Club Med Phuket

Family of 4, our 2 boys being 13 and 16. We had booked an 8 night stay at Club Med Phuket. We flew directly into Phuket from Perth arriving mid afternoon and were picked up by the Club Med Representative who ushered us into the van and we were off. The drive was only about 45 minutes. Fantastic all inclusive resort. 2 boys age 9 and 11 had the holiday of their lives. Brilliant food with good variety. All staff were helpful. Good nightly entertainment. Free bar. Good beach. Transfer from airport was the only problem with driver having a death wish.

This was our second holiday to Club Med Phuket and yet again our stay was excellent. Not only did my wife and myself thoroughly enjoy our stay but there was so much for our 16 year old daughter and sons aged 12 and 7 to do whilst there. The actual accommodation (rooms) may not be as classy as some of the other big resorts but there is nothing that you would be wanting for, if you are at the resort for a fun filled or lazy vacation. This is our second Club Med vacation experience, our first was at Club Med Punta Cana which was simply fabulous! So I will admit that I am comparing our experience there and finding Phuket to be very disappointing. We spent five days over spring break at Club Med Phuket. We spent a week in Club Med Phuket in early April 2007. Having read a few bad reviews of this resort, I must say we were pleasantly surprised by how good it was. We stayed in the standard room, which was basic, but it had everything that you need in a resort like this, particularly excellent air conditioning!. There were a lot of mosquitoes around but Club Med provided room spray. We stayed at the Club Med in Phuket for a week and it was a pleasant experience. Our children loved it, the kids clubs are really fantastic and in excellent condition. The Spa is quite nice but the treatments were okay or average depending on the staff you had this day. The food buffets get VERY crowded during the meals and thus it's very noisy. Club Med has changed since our first visit in 1980 (tahiti) we have found that if the chef de village has a good team then everything goes well and is worth the money but it has changed in the last 5 years and the original concept has been lost in the chase of the dollar, now instead of all rooms being similar and beads to buy drinks ir is charge cards and several levels of accomodation. The original instigators of the club med credo must be spinning in their graves

After spending a fabulous week at Club Med in Bali last year we were so impressed we decided to try the Phuket club In January for 13 nights. Upon our arrival in Phuket where we received none of the normal Club Med greeting we instantly felt things were not right. Sadly our suspicions were confirmed. We stayed at Club Med Phuket from 29 July 2005 - 31 July 2005. As we were Malaysians, we discovered on our first dinner that Malaysians are confined to one particular dining area for the very simple reason that we were on a promotional package! As there were only 2 of us, we requested the waiter to set a small table (which was vacated by an earlier couple) for us as we did not want to sit on a large empty table.
