Club Acuario

The hotel was definately not worth the money we paid. First, it is not a three star place by any means. The staff was generally nice, however the people at the front desk did not know what they were talking about half the time, or they need to learn better English in order to better serve their English clientel. Our room was okay, except for the cockroach on my pillow when we arrived, we were on the top floor (3rd) with no elevator so we had to carry our luggage all the way up and down, we could not open our patio door, the toilet did not... more

We really enjoyed this hotel- lovely quiet pool, good food, great cocktails- like a private club more than a hotel! Don't wander around outside along the canals though like we did for a pleasant walk- we were told by security guards that it was not allowed!

It is indeed a great gem! Can't remember having a holiday where the staff are so anxious to please and make sure you enjoy yourself. Tremendous value. Particularly like that it wasn't crowded. It was laid back, calm, quiet and fun, fun, fun! Anyone who wouldn't like this spot is looking for food like home, entertainment like home, etc....in which case I say...stay at home! I have been to Cuba seven times over the past 20 years. I love the country, the people are great and it is the safest tourist destination in the world. On this visit I stayed at the Hotel Acuario for the first time and I was really, really happy with the place and the staff. It is located only 40 minutes from Havana city centre and you can take a free shuttle bus there every day, twice a day return. My 2nd stay at Club Acuario was very much like my first. The hotel staff again were what made the hotel the gem that it is. Friendly, courteous, and will go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable. From the kitchen staff, bar staff, or even the grounds keepers to the animation team (which is A+ I must say) they all remembered me from my previous visit. This trip I was treated as family. I really enjoy the stay, the staff are so friendly, esp Sol and the tall lady whose name starts with O who works in the travel desk. Food is good, not awesome, but good basic food. For us, typical breakfast is omellette, toast, fruit, juice and coffee. Dinner always has some sort of meat, wine, salad, potato, rice, soup and desert. I enjoy the food! It was shockingly awful. This is far from a 4 star. You go to cuba with lowered expectations, especially for the food, but this was just silly. I posted a youtube video with the title 'hotel club acuario havana cuba review'. Old Havana city can be fun in the evenings.

Food was terrible - no pasta, no carrot, no lettuce (cabbage & cucumbers only), no bacon, no onions, dessert was never enough - they were short of a lot of things we had only one show for the whole week except on December 31st new year eve - it was a boring fashion show - 95% of cuban people who only wished to dance (and us also) nothing else to do than to swim in col water - we were not lucky with the weather - there was no activity except on Jan. 1st - I will never go back I asked for 2 days to be transferred to another hotel - their... more

I have never been to a resort that is totally nothing to enjoy. They have only a swimming pool for swimming. A stage for dancing and singing shows every other night. That is it for the facilities and activities they organise. They have a buffet resturant that provides very very little choices and poor qualities. The resturant is always smoky as the ventilation for the grill is not working well. Management for the resturant is poor. They did not open the Italian resturant probably there is no one to make a reservation at all.... more
