Chaaya Lagoon Hakuraa Huraa

Dont really no what to say coz there so many fantastic comments on this hotel. But I totally agree what everyone else is saying. It was out first time to the maldives and we loved it. It was exactly what we wanted, a relaxing, chilled out, fantastic weather and good food. This is what we got exactly. Sea Plane was amazing, dont forget your camera. Location is quite amazing and to arrive by seaplane makes it extra special. Really does appear as 'paradise on earth'. The sea is as blue as you see in the pictures/on TV.The lagoon is as warm as bath water,which you share with all manner of exotic marine life. (Take reef shoes with you). Just back from a fabulous 7 nights with my wife from this lovely resort island and really can`t wait to go back--as I write this my wife is on her lap-top trying to book for March! I concur totally with the review by Rishi and Kamini already posted so won`t cover the same ground too much. The water bungalows have a lovely outlook across the lagoon to the ocean waves crashing beyond. Our stay at the Hakuraa club now renamed the Chayaa Lagoon Hakuraa Huraa was excellent from beginning to end. It began with our flights over on Emirates which were superb, great service, good food, seat back TV on demand system, and complimentary drinks. Once we had arrived in Male we were then transferred to the sea plane departure point. We went to Hakuraa now renamed Chaaya Lagoon on the 26 November. To our amazement the Monarch flight was okay, having been very worried from previous reviews. Stayed in a water bungalow and although the bathrooms need an unpgrade they were clean with plenty of hot water. Only one down side if you stay in a water bungalow, no: 150 upwards there tends to be a very nasty smell at times from the disposal of waste. After a whopping 24 hour delay from Gatwick (!!**) with lovely Monarch (not!) we finally arrived at the resort a day later than expected (having spent 24 hours in the Gatwick Hilton (not as glamorous as it sounds). We must have had high expectations as we were quite disappointed by the quality of the resort. we understood that it had been rebuilt after the tsunami not just refurbished. Hakuraa Club which is now known as Chaaya Lagoon can only be described as paradise. All of the staff are wonderful, in particular Raj the manager, Sujau our room boy and Fernando the barman. The water villas are modern, spacious and everything you dream of. The bathrooms are a little tired but nothing that you can't live with. Having read some comments about Hakuraa which weren't very good, we set off excited but wary. We needn't have worried, but first we had to fly with Monarch!! The flight was delayed by 3 hours due to broken toilets, which in the end weren't fixed, one working toilet for approx 300 people, for 12 hours, not nice! and due to the delay it was too late for the seaplane transfer.We were taken by speedboat to the Dhonveli Beach Resort for the night, lovely island, and were looked after really well. Water bungalow fantastic, very big, huge bed, air condition that worked, glass floor ( mind blowing ) and a houseboy that kept the room immaculate. Weather was excellent, food was very good and varied, Ociuddin (the junior chef) always had a great big smile to greet you at any time of day and is a credit to the hotel. Bar service was excellent where you are looked after by Fernando and Sumpath, again a credit to the hotel.
