Centara Kata Resort Phuket

My family of four adults and 1 child stayed here last week and we got an excellent pool front room on the ground level. Though the hotel booked us on a second level, they obliged to move us to a ground floor upon request and even provided connecting rooms. The breakfast served had variety though similar on all days. Staff were very polite and friendly. I was disappointed with the Spa Cenvaree at the resort though. check in process was a breeze. hotel staff greeted us with a cool welcome drink, definitely refreshing after the 1 hour ride from airport. the staff had us chilling on the benches in the lobby while they check us in and the lady explain the location of the hotel facilities before taking us to our room. the room turned out to be a pleasant surprised. we booked two hotels, centara kata and centara villas karon, so we're expecting this to be the lesser of two. the room is clean and neat. it has a sink top next to the wardrobe.... more

The family (2A+2C) spent 7D6N at Centara Kata Resort and it was the BEST. No holiday is without its minor inconveniences and this was no exception but, hey, we were on a holiday and it's always best to just 'chill' if something minor arises. Perhaps the biggest issue faced was that there were no inter-connecting rooms available as pre-requested. The response: they offered a 2 bed-room family suite at a reasonable top-up rate. Just got back from a very relaxing stay at this resort. Over the last few months they have had some extensive refurbishment work taking place and the resort appears to have been given a more contemporary feel. All the staff we encountered were exceptional and the managment team where very helpful we any requests we had. The new head chef in the restaurant also seems to have worked his magic with the food which we found to be exceptional. As the title says we find this hotel to be a real disappointment. Alot of money for what it was. We found several of the staff to be quite rude, unhelpful & unfriendly - some with a 'chip on their shoulder'! Felt the cleanliness of the rooms in particular could have been GREATLY improved. 2 out of 5 of us had severe food poisening one of them being our 2 year old son - we only ate in the hotel. We stayed in a great family hotel – Central Kata Resort – located in Kata town with 2 fantastic pools where our kids spend a lot of time. My partner and I stayed at Central Kata Resort for 4 days and 5 nights during February 2007. Price - I thought that this hotel was pretty expensive for what it was. i also thought it was a but much to charge tax and service charges for food and beverage - this is not standard outside the hotel. Pools - Three pools, one with a slide, one with elephants. All the pools needed a good clean - hair, etc in the water. Beach Towels - each guest is allocated a towel card per stay. I've uhmmed and ahhed for a few days whether to actually write this review as our experiences were so mixed from very bad to very good as to make hard to be objective but here goes. \we have just returned from an 8 night stay at this resort, we had booked a 2 Bedroom Suite for our family of five, very spacious with two bathrooms, kitchen facilities and a lounge. This resort has great facilities, 3 great pools, spa and a restaurant, about a 10 minute walk to the beach or in the mornings there is a free shuttle, Tuk Tuk's are available and are very reasonable. My sister and I stayed at the Jiva Resort at the end of October. We found the resort lovely and very relaxing. After a small hiccup on the transfer from the airport we arrived 1 hour later from the airport. The resort is huge and has the typical open to the elements style lobby/entrance and the gardens are dripping in coloured flowers and shrubs.
