Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

We stayed at Deluxe for two weeks at Christmas time.Generally everything was ok.The territory is huge and beautiful, the deluxe area is comparatively quiet ,the beach is long and you can walk and walk .We didn't have any complains about food,nor we never had problems with stomachs.We made friends with some guys from St Petersburg,and a girl from Moscow and spent evening at the reception bar drinking mamajuana and at Casino watching Tropicalissimo. This hotel was chosen for both my 1st and 4th trips to the Dominican Republic. The first time I stayed here was with my sister, and the second was with my boyfriend. Both times were fantastic. I also recommended the resort to a cousin who went with her boyfriend and they raved about it as well. Stayed at the oceanfront Bavaro Palace Deluxe Junior Suites in January 2009 and just loved it. The suites are really nicely done - brand new, modern, sleek - very clean. All of them had a jacuzzi on the balcony, which is really nice. The view is absolutely spectacular - the beach is beautiful. The grounds are very pretty and very well maintained. I stayed at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe Suites. First I have to say you cannot go by what you read in these reviews, I suggest you go and experience it yourself. I worried so0o much about the poor rates and comments that I've read. When I got there I was amazed. I felt like I was in paradise!! So, we stayed in the Jr. Deluxe section of the Palace Aug. 9 -14 and I have to say, Im so glad we didnt believe all the reviews. Honestly, think about this, YOU are planning a trip to a THIRD World Country, so you have to have an OPEN MIND. That being said, We (husband,14 yr old daughter & myself) had a FABULOUS time. After a bad experience in the NH Edenh Real Arena and a few days in Santo Domingo and the countryside we decided to hit the beach before going home. We spoke to a local good friend - he said the Barcelo Deluxe Junior Suits are great - so we booked via phone. The Junior Suite is not very big, but the interior is realy well done. The best deal going is the oceanfront room - literally steps from the sand, jacuzzi on the patio or balcony, very nice room and if you're on the ground floor you have your own front lawn with lounge chairs. All this for very little more than the oceanview rooms but you have to ask for the upgrade ( if available and if you didn't book oceanfront previously for $18 more per night than the oceanview jr. suite and worth every penny ). Just a couple things to have in mind... Waterfront rooms will cost you more but believe it worth every penny .... Once you booking this room make sure ticket say OF ( ocean front) if it said OV (ocean view) you will not get the rooms next to the walkway and waterfront...... no matter what the agency said OV will NOT get you the waterfront rooms Rooms are beautiful , Service is fine with no problems . Our family of 4 stayed at the Junior Suites Deluxe from March 17 to 25. We have vacationed at several other resorts in Punta Cana and Mexico. The Palace "Deluxe", as the locals refer to it, was hard to beat. The Room - we sayed in the newly opened Junior Suites Deluxe. Make sure your rep sends you to the right Reception/Lobby area. We just returned from a week long stay at the Barcelo Palace Jr. Suites Deluxe. The rooms were very modern and spacious. The double headed rain shower was fabulous and the whirlpool on the balcony was used every day we were there. One note of caution is the mosquitoes in the room since the maids keep the door and patio doors open when they are cleaning. Be sure to bring bug spray.
