I loved it. Best holiday I've been on in a long time.
Our hotel room was basic but that's all we wanted. They were cleaned everyday. Although I dont think the towels were changed a lot.
Puerto Pollensa its self is lovely. Go to Dakota. Its wonderful in there!
I am going back this year!

Beautiful resort of Puerto Pollensa is better than brochure leads one to believe. Weather was beautiful, sea was blue and relaxation was quickly achieved.
Only downside was the attitude of apartment staff to guests. One morning early I was in reception when a person I took to be a staff member was using foul and abusive language in both my presence and the presence of a male receptionist. This moron assumed that I didn’t understand Spanish or worse he didn’t care. He saw me but continued this appalling tirade. The receptionist walked off and I also left. I was horrified that a guest could be so blatantly ignored. I made a written complaint to reception asking for an explanation.....not a word. On my return I complained to the company head office.....not a word.
I heartily recommend Puerto Pollensa but would strongly advise against staying at the Oro Playa apartments as guests are both ignored and treated with disdain. We also saw guests having to get their own sheets......but that’s another story.!

This was our 10th visit to puerto pollentia, we have stayed in the oro playa before 2 years ago, not bad at that time. But if you want any of the following don’t go here, peace, quiet, cleanliness, good food.
Music starts at 10 am and goes on all day till 12 midnight, when the music stops, people stay around the bar area till 3 am, the staff say nothing. If you want a siesta during the afternoon, go to the beach, it’s much quieter.
Don’t accept a room over the bar area or you will regret it. Ants are in abundance, not nice to wake early hours with ants crawling all over you, in the drawers, on the bed, in the wardrobe, on the worktops, on tables, in fact you can't get away from them, shake your clothes before you put them on.
The whole place needs a face lift. We spent the whole holiday away from the apartments; my partner was in tears the whole holiday. We watched from the balcony people queuing for sun beds and the late revellers singing and shouting till the early hours with no respect for others.
Then they would go off to the other side of the complex were it was quiet and stay in bed till dinner time. Our neighbours went 2 weeks before us and they said exactly the same. They liked the resort but not these apartments.
Do us all a favour and knock it down. We have arrived back 09.09.2006 and will need 2 weeks sleep to recover. The only good thing to come out of it all was we found some great restaurants, can pancho, can ferra, la parra and best of all el posito this has the best staff and chef in puerto pollentia.

Just back from the Ora Playa. I must say firstly that the staff as a whole were exemplarily. However, we requested a room with a terrace only to find that there were no terraces there at all.
The day we arrived, the room was crawling with ants including the beds and sofas. We complained to reception and to our Direct Holiday travel reps. The reps said that it was the exceptional heat (though temperatures were just about normal) and the receptionist gave us insecticide to spray.
At no stage during our 14 days, were the floors of the apartments washed. You would expect that this would be the first thing done in the interest of hygiene and also to combat the ants. The maids came in every day (between 10 and 11 am), made the beds (did not change the linen in the 2 weeks), replaced towels and brushed the floor.
In addition, there is a severe lack of sun beds. People started reserving them with towels (though this was not meant to be allowed) as early as 5:40 am. (I know cos I was still awake from the ants biting me). The entertainment staff consisted of two blokes from Belgium who try as they might simply came from a different culture to us.
The level of "professional" shows was extremely poor in general with the exception of the Elvis impersonator/comedian. The resort itself was beautiful but we found the restaurants were expensive and the menus limited. A steak fillet, accompanied by sparse amount of veg and the compulsory baked potato, about the size of your palm was anything from 18 to 25 euro. You could get a huge delicious T-Bone in Gran Canaria for 11 euro last year. All in all, Peurto Pollensa was scenic, expensive and the Ora Playa was not the best place I've ever been.

we have just returned from Oro Playa apartments. This was our 4th time to Puerto Pollensa having stayed at Duva and Hobby Club before. After reading the previous reports I am sorry to say that things are not so good this year.
Cleaning was very poor and infrequent. It smelt like a dirty mop had been used to clean the floors and the place is full of ants including the beds. We were never bothered by ants at either of the other apartment. Cupboard doors were hanging off hinges the door of the fridge was all rusted and the bathroom door had a large dint in it. We got clean towels and sheets about twice a week which is not good enough. We did ask for a move of apartment but are still waiting a reply.
On a positive side the location is great which is why we went there and the entertainment staff were fantastic. The music doesn't stop until midnight so beware if you like peace and quiet and the air conditioning is very poor. We complained and they sent someone to fix it but it was no better and he left dirty marks all down the wall. Also ladies there is no hairdryer. We will not be returning to these apartments.
We loved Side and intend on going back next year. Best holiday we have had! :-)

The Oro Playa has good clean basic apartments. It has an on site mini market which is convenient and not much more expensive than its resort competitors. It has a fair sized swimming pool with a kiddies section which was good for our baby daughter.
The entertainment, reception and cleaning staff are all very friendly. Sunbathing o.k. but you have to move about a bit as one side gets the sun for most of the am/early pm and the other only for the late pm. (we went last two weeks in Sept though).
2-3 minute walk away (at the most) is a beautiful clear water beach which stretches for miles. Good for kids as calm waters, plenty of space etc. Ladies look out for the massage man, my partner highly recommends him. I think its 15 euros for 15 minutes. He's in one of the many beautiful apartments/villas on the beachfront.
The restaurants are of a very good quality. I would recommend El Mojitos as my favourite of 4/5. Had to keep going back for the Mojitos Mussles(very hot/spicy).My partner enjoyed Tangos(really tuned into catering for families). If you don’t want to spend loads on meals out, there are plenty of other fast food options.
We've just booked again for May/June, Maybe the score of 8 is on the low side as the resort is truly beautiful and not anything to really complain about!!!

We returned to the Oro Playa for a second year as these apartments were fab for families - with very close beach access, a secure pool with day and evening entertainment every night.
The rooms are basic, but very clean with speedy maid service, a shop on site and friendly and helpful staff. We had a relaxing holiday and enjoyed ourselves - mainly because the kids were happy and busy - so we were happy!
We will definitely be returning again.

My grandpa, sister and I went to the Oro Playa Apartments for the October Holidays this year and we had a great time.
The Apartment facilities are great and we enjoyed playing pool every day and watching the evening entertainment. We’ve been going to Puerto Pollensa since me and my sister were born (15 years ago), it's become our trademark holiday place and we never get bored of it.
This was our first time at the Oro Playa Apartments, and a very enjoyable holiday for us. The only problem was that the pool was freezing! But you got used to it after a while. There was also a slight rudeness from the male receptionist but it didn’t ruin our holiday too much! I think we will definitely be coming back to Puerto Pollensa next October, and maybe to the Oro Playa Apartments again.

As we are a couple in our early thirties with a 15 month old daughter, we wanted a resort (and apartments) which catered mainly for families (or couples), with none of the typical Club 18-30 holidaymakers, and we were not disappointed!
Puerto Pollensa is a lovely resort in the north / north west of Majorca, set in a calm horse-shoe shaped bay, surrounded by mountains with beautiful scenery. The resort has a pleasant promenade which stretches for a few miles, with the most attractive part being where it is pedestrianised, and lined with restaurants and hotels where one can sit and drink/eat, watching the world go by. Our particular favourite area was where the promenade was narrowest, slightly to the north of the resort centre, where one can sit only 20 feet from the gently lapping shoreline, sipping a sangria at dusk.
Puerto Pollensa is perfect for families with young children (which was evident from the number of buggies we spotted!), and kids are always welcome at restaurants, where the waiters and waitresses will genuinely fuss over the children, even on their way to another table.
The resort was also popular with middle-aged and older couples.
There is a wide range of restaurants, including tapas, pizza, Chinese, Italian, snack bars etc, with good quality food and reasonable prices.
The Oro Playa apartments had everything one would expect, including an adult and kiddies pool, bar, restaurant and evening entertainment (if one fancies a trip back in time with the aid of very cheesy 1980s music!). The apartments themselves are comfortable and functional, but would benefit from a slight facelift e.g. plug sockets hanging from the wall (out of a child’s reach, though), slightly mouldy sealant in the bathroom, slightly cracked plaster. However, these minor issues did not affect the comfort of the apartments, which were literally a 1 minute walk from the beach.
If you would like a pleasant family holiday (or a quiet holiday for a couple) in beautiful surroundings, that is only ~2 hours from the UK, then Puerto Pollensa is for you. I can guarantee that we’ll be returning there, and would even stay in the Oro Playa apartments again!

The Oro playa apartments were welcoming all the staff were friendly and and very good with the kids. The kid’s entertainment team were energetic and hard working wonderful people they made sure all the children felt involved and the parents even got up to dance. The live shows were brilliant the apartments are in a good location being just a stone throw from the beach there is nothing bad I can say about these apartments we had a very enjoyable stay. Puerto Pollensa is a beautiful part of Majorca the promenade is very relaxing with plenty of shops and cafes and the beaches are clean with plenty of sunbeds we didn’t want to come home. I would recommend it to anyone who wanted a quite relaxing holiday.

Have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday at the Oro Playa apartments, Puerto Pollensa, booked through Direct Holidays. Just wanted to make a few observations.
The resort itself is stunningly beautiful - can’t fault it - even in peak season, it retains an olde worlde charm, reminiscent of the old South of France or Italian Lakes - sophisticated, yet not in a sickening way, i.e. doesn’t attract people dripping with gold watches, but nice families. Restaurants look very expensive - two table cloths, candlelight, etc., but very reasonable.
The apartment was fairly basic - at first, looked a bit shabby, almost like there had been some flood damage. Health and safety was poor - lots of exposed electrics, potential hazards with steps, paving stones, etc., no lifeguard in pool. However, once you’d got settled in and put your own things in, it looked fine! A home from home. Staff were second to none and cleaners were fantastic - 5 or 6 times a week! Regular change of towels and bedding.
Beware of mosquitoes - we are bitten very badly. Buy one of those plug in things.
Also, hotel entertainment was so loud, we had to buy earplugs and there was no way our five year old could have got to sleep before about 11.00 pm every night. The two entertainers were really, lovely though - Franca and Jerome! Thanks for the Schumacher dance Jerome and Gasolina Franca! You really made our holiday - but you weren’t half LOUD!!
Perhaps what made it worse, was the neighbouring hotel - Puerto Azul? We all love Steptoe and Son and Rolf Harris, but my husband felt like re-enacting a scene from the Godfather, after about 3 days of listening to terrible jokes, TV theme tunes and speeded up Pinky and Perky music and this went ON AND ON FOR 14 NIGHTS. It became like a scene from Clockwork Orange!
Also, we were all sickened by the selfishness NOT OF GERMAN people, but English people, putting towels on loungers at 9.00 am and then not returning until mid-day. We took great pleasure the first week, in folding them up and removing them. The hotel states that you can’t reserve beds. One young lad even had the audacity to question someone- the wrong person, as it happened - when we did this! Feel free to remove all towels, if people aren’t around. Soon people will get the message.
I must say, I might sound a bit miserable, but it was a fantastic holiday - thoroughly enjoyed by husband, my daughter and me. Just to let people know about a few factors - pre-warned is fore-armed! Definitely, go though!
Thanks to the lovely staff and also Dolphin Club, which Lucy loved.
