Akumal Beach Resort

Having read a lot of the reviews about this resort before going there was getting me concerned. On arrival all my worries were put me behind me. We were allocated a room in the Chitchen Itza building that over looks the sea. Yes the rooms are basic, but they are clean and individually air-conditioned. The locks on the doors were not very good but every room had a free safe and the resort was well patrolled by security. Food in the buffet restaurant (on the back of the beach about 10m from the sea)and in the Mexican a la carte was excellent.... more

i have been to many different resorts but this one was horrible. first of all the people in the front desk were very rude. Some of the people in the entertainment dept. were very mean and rude. I was very ofended when i over heard a conversation from two of the workers over there , they said that they treat the mexican people ok they treat the americans better but they must treat the italian people better. Me being half mexican got me upset. So if you are not italian be sure you wont be treated right. I will never go back to that place.

I went with my two children aged 7 and 10 th this resort in the month of august for two weeks vacations.We planned to do a lot of snorkling, play tennis and vist around Xcaret and other beatiful places of the riviera maya. This was our third trip. I read some of the comments posted in this page, and in general I agree with them. Akumal was not so expensive but at the end cheap things becomes very expensive !!! We recently returned from a ten night stay at the Akumal Beach Resort (July9-July19)and found it to be about the best all-inclusive resort we have ever stayed at. Having been to over 25 different Caribbean destinations that says a lot for this resort. The staff was unbelievable in all respects, helpful, courtious. efficient, etc. I had three minor problems with my room and after a phone call to the lobby on the first two they had someone at my room in less then three minutes, the third problem was just a burnt out light bulb at my bedside... more

Had booked vacation before seeing all the negative comments about this hotel, was very nervous about going. Very glad we went the Hotel was very beautiful, the beach was fantastic the sand soft white sand, water aqua green/blue and calm, the food was fantastic and different assortments and varieties everyday, never a problem with service, waiters and bartender and animation staff were helpful and very polite all the time. the bars all served good drinks if they didn't have your type alcolhol they got it right away, my drinks were never... more

I just HATE this Resort. Too bad, because some of the staff wew amazing. The BAD things, This is Not Karisma, is Venta Club, some Italian company. Just the regular, a foreing company comes with all Italian staff, for Administration, entretainment, and Locals (mexicans and many natives) in the restaurants and cleaning stuff. I never seen so many people working so hard, for so little money. Came back from Akumal Beach Club last week - had an amazing holiday! The hotel is gorgeous, I was getting a bit worried by the size and 'poshness' of the other resorts we dropped people off at on the way, but was very pleased when we got to Akumal...it was perfect, felt like we (me and my sister) were in paradise, the beach was gorgeous and the whole layout and presentation of the hotel was beautiful. Myself, hubby, daughter and her fella had two great weeks of R&R from 12 May to 26 May 2003 and would recommend this lovely place to anyone. Accommodation was very good - large rooms with excellent view of beach and grounds. We were in Chicken Pizza as we called it (Chichen Itza) block 6 right next to the main building on the first floor but were not bothered by the disco at night if we turned in before it ended nor noise from below or above. I have just arrived back from the Akumal Beach Resort this morning. We stayed there for 2 weeks on our honeymoon and I have to say after reading many negative reviews on the resort, I was a bit wary of what I was going to find, however, myself and my husband couldn't have picked a better place. It was fantastic from start to finish. After reading so many recent negative reports on Akumal Beach Resort we went into this vacation not knowing what to expect. Now we do!! Apparently a number of people just live to complain.Bottom line, if you want a 5 * resort—GO TO ONE!!!!!Akumal Beach Resort is a great value for money. The staff are wonderful, food is good and our vacation was EXCELLENT!! We would highly recommend this to our friends, family and anyone else.
