9 Beaches Resort

We just returned from Nine Beaches for our Anniversary. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the over the water cabanas they show on the website. Believe us, these are the ONLY rooms worth staying in. They are really awesome. Great views, great breeze and the sound of the waves all night long! Awesome. Other cabanas are near a farm that has a VERY stong manure smell (read other reviews), or have ant problems, or no breeze. With a great degree of trepidation, my wife and I arrived in Bermuda on June 10 to begin a week of who knows what, in a place that had received, at best, mixed reviews. After reading reviews of "abandoning hope" and "the stench of manure" all the way to "beautiful beaches" and "enjoyed our stay", we didn't know what to expect. We just returned from a one week stay at 9 Beaches. The best way to describe it is; it is like renting a cabin in the woods/mountians only beach style. It is rustic. The cabana's are not air conditioned, thus everything gets very damp. My swimsuit cover never dried out. I had difficulty sleeping in the damp warm weather. Plus the cabana's are noisey in the breeze, which sounded like someone trying to get in. The bathrooms do not have much privacy. My husband and I just returned from a wonderful 8 day/7 night vacation at 9 Beaches. We read the posted reviews prior to our arrival and set off with a combined sense of curiosity, concern and caution. Over and over again, our comments were - "what are those people talking about?" - 9 Beaches isn't a lunar landscape, isn't a KOA for farm cowhands fleeing from uncontrolled bovine stench or any of the other 'take it with a grain of salt' reviews offered thus far. 9 Beaches is a pleasant, relaxed resort community blending hospitality... more

My wife and I just returned from 5 days at Nine Beach"s Resort. Overall we had a wonderfull time. The staff was very helpfull. Great entertainment in the afternoon at the "Dark & Stormy" and dinner was a pleasant experience. My only criticizm is the performance of our cabana "maid" service could have been better ie no soap all week, no extra toilet paper and residual sand buildup was never swept. The positives.....GREAT VIEWS as well as privacy and comfortable beds. WE WILL GO BACK!!!

I have been following the reviews and feel that I needed to put one in to address some of the issues. My wife and I stayed at 9 Beaches the end of April. We thought it was amazing. The main beach is protected so that even when it was windy we could kayak along the coast to a national park. We could snorkel right outside our cabana. The biking was great because the resort is at the less populated end of Bermuda and you have easy access to the best part of the rail trail. The sailing was great with a solid wind and lively boats. We were basically very satisfied with our experience at 9 Beaches. It lives up to the unique image that is projected by the website in almost all ways, including the wireless internet access in the Cabanas and on the beaches. Most of the previous reviews tell an accurate story (apart from the one who found the restaurant menu boring, in our opinion – but that of course is very subjective). Don't be misled by the fact that the owner of The Reefs is somehow involved in this venture. Other than the restaurant (which, to our complete surprise given the other problems, turned out to be very good), we did not find much to recommend this place. Comfort? Not to be found here, at least if you judge by the high standards set by other resorts in Bermuda. I just came back from a 5 days 4 nights package at 9 Beaches with my husband. Overall the experience is mixed but more toward the service. I believe the resort is just opened on April and still trying to train their staffs. The food at Hi-Tide is very good, however the service is different. It took 30 minutes before someone comes to ask for drink orders and then never return with your drink orders. It took an average 2 hours for dinner. Well, like most of you, I too was very, very skeptical after reading many of the posts in the forums section, and we just returned today from 9Beaches. The verdict? Couldn't have had a better stay. It seems that they've got most of the kinks worked out already--not bad considering what a huge piece of property they have. We stayed in two different rooms categories: the Aqua Vista and the Top Banana.
