" It was fun "

Overall the food was good and the Hotal was clean .....my girlfriends and I had a great time...we enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent made sure we were having a good holiday...The entertainment staff were always around to make sure everything was good..I did most of the activities, they were alot of fun. There were alot of families and couples there but that did not take away from our fun if anything we would meet people at the front bar and have a good time till the weeeee hours( it's not a quiet resort)...I would do it again..and it's a trip I will always remember with my girlfriends and the new friends I made. The only thing I would say is watch out for the dominician men( they are straight to the point anywhere in dominician) especially if your blonde ....they want more.

Advice: yes

Activities: the beach

" Generally had a great time. If you're... "

Generally had a great time. If you're looking for a quiet resort to relax in this is not the one for you. As soon as the entertainment staff arrive they try to encourage you to join in with their activities however they don't harass you if you say no and are very friendly.

The hotel and pool were very clean. There were plenty of beach loungers to rearrange if you wanted to to relax by the pool. The beach was nice apart from the beach vendors trying to flog their wares to you which became very annoying, so my friend and I avoided the beach. If you do go to the beach take your mp3 player as the vendors tend not to bother you when they see you can't hear them.

The food was ok. There was plenty of variety although it seemed like everything was constantly repeated. I'd give the food quality around 6 out of 10. The barbecue around the pool was lovely which happened on the Friday we were there when it didn't rain. If it does rain there isn't a lot to do around the complex.

It is well worth getting into town by walking up the beach near the waters edge and going to the Irish bar (Jose O'Shea's). You can cut through into town and you'll discover the liquidation store a few yards up the street on the opposite side of the road. This is the cheapest place on the island for souvenirs unless you really want to pay more!

At night don't expect to get an early night. Our room was in the main part of the hotel on the second floor. We didn't need to be on the ground floor to hear the entertainment as it boomed into our room. It was very loud even on the second floor. This started around 10pm and finished around midnight every night, which wasn't appreciated after a 4 hour flight delay!

You can not fault the staff and I would go back but only for a maximum of 1 week.

" Very pleased with the resort and the... "

Very pleased with the resort and the extensive choice of food. Really impressed with the 24 hr snack bar which served excellent fresh food.

A really great place for the kids with plenty of activities to keep them occupied whilst we enjoyed soaking up the sun on the beach which was cleaned every morning.

Loads of sun loungers and clean beach towels. The staff are really friendly and helpful, credit to the maids for keeping our room clean; nothing was too much trouble for them.

One of the best family resorts I have been to and will certainly return.

" I just came back from Viva Wyndham... "

I just came back from Viva Wyndham Tangerine Playa Dorada Puerto Plata. I have to say that the service was incredible, the people there was so helpful any problems I had they took take of it quickly and thoroughly.

I am also from the Caribbean so any foods that I wanted to eat that wasn't on the menu they were able to provide it. The hotel staff are very friendly but yet professional which made this hotel a delight to stay in. It was always clean and the atmosphere throughout was very lively and happy throughout.

The hotel staff work many hours and many different jobs within the hotel but they were always in a friendly manner willing to go the extra mile for guests. The front desk called up to my room on the day of check out to ask when I would like the bellboy to retrieve my luggage I didn't even have to ask them.

I travelled by myself and found that they respected and understood the fact that I went to rest and they never pushed me to join in on the activities or shows at night which I really appreciated.

The hotel is breathtaking throughout right from the very front all the way to the beach which is a nice 12 minute walk from the main lobby it really makes you feel like paradise walking to the beach. The pool area which I never care for when I travel however it is elegantly put together with a pool bar and waterfall.

This is my fourth vacation in one year, this hotel was the quietest even at night, and it has signs on every stairway / hallway on every level, which politely asks to keep it quiet in these parts of the hotel.

The beach was incredible which I stayed most of the time it was quite big and the beach bar was a minute off the shore so you can easily leave the noise and music and just hear the ocean or you can snack and drink on the beach bar with the music depending on your mood.

I really enjoyed my stay there and this was the hardest vacation to leave as I just went there to relax as intended and got just that.

" I wanted to let future Wyndham... "

I wanted to let future Wyndham Tangerine goers, what they were letting themselves in for.......a bloomin' good holiday is what I would like to tell them!!

The hotel complex is made up of apartment blocks (up to 3 floors) and they were situated amongst the most beautiful gardens which were maintained each and every day. The flowers were so pretty and the palm trees set the scene perfectly.

The more important stuff..........our double room for 3 sisters was ideal which had a balcony and a brilliant shower with very hot water if you wanted it - there wasn't a bath.

The food........well, basically you could eat all day, even in the early hours, there is food on tap non stop. And it's GREAT food too!! For breakfast, lunch and dinner, it's a buffet and there was such choice, fish, meat, vegetable dishes (so do not despair if you are vegetarian), there was a great salad bar with all of the dressings (mayo, ketchup, oils etc). Fantastic rice dishes, the pasta was superb and the pizzas (clay oven baked), delicious. So you will not be disappointed with the food-it was superb and the variety, well my family was flabbergasted!!!? Oh and expect to put about a stone of weight on!!!? You just want to try everything. Oh and each meal is served with the local wine, which is drinkable - the white wine better than the red and mineral water too. There is on tap fruit juice available for the kiddies too. And I would like to say that the ice is safe too - it's brought in specially. At this point, I would say that this hotel had hygiene high up on it's list, not one of our family members had any sort of tummy bug while we were there. They had various bottled water facilities around the complex so that you could top up your own plastic bottles.

The drink........that's on tap as from 10am each and every day too, that's alcoholic drinks. They pretty much have every spirit available and they have a cocktail list for the brave!! Tea and Coffee is available throughout the day at the snack bar and you must try their cappucino's - freshly made behind the bar - pretty good!! Great with a slice or two of their banana cake.

Entertainment......very well done!! Throughout the day they have different activities going on put on by the entertainment team - it's the same guys that put on all of the shows and they are very passionate about what they do and work extremely hard too. At first they seem extremely overly friendly, but that's their job, they want to make you feel at home and they are harmless. Just let your hair down and join in the activities and watch their shows!! I'm personally not into shows all that much, but the rest of my family are and they really enjoyed them.

Dress code is not at all formal - you can wear what you like (even at dinnertime) but it was more casual than anything - flip flops with something or other. Very easy going so don't over pack!!?? We flew with Thomsonfly and their baggage allowance was only 20kg, I ended up unpacking and packing again just to get my allowance down - it's quite tricky when you're a girl. But take it from me, you don't need any really dressy clothes and you do wear some things more than once!!?

Electricity - it's very low voltage (110w) so my own hair-dryer was really quite pathetic (it just about did the job but worked very slowly) but the small dryer supplied in the hotel bathrooms was just fine. My sisters GHD's were just fine and our mobile phone/ipod chargers worked all ok too. The iron and ironing board supplied in the room was just great too!

The beach party and the lunchtime BBQ were very well done!!! Very enjoyable.

The internet access at the hotel was brilliant - there were 3 computers that were available - you just buy your tokens at the hotel reception (US$10.00 for an hour of credit) - it's so easy - you just type your code in and a way you go!! What credit you have left you can use on your next surf, just keep using it until your credit runs out. TIP - Just remember to take all of your user names and passwords with you, so you can access your email accounts ie AOL and Hotmail etc.

There were 2 really good little shops on site, for the odd nick knack or more snacks if you're still hungry!!

The gym looked really good too, quite modern, not that I used the gym while I was there.........come on........I was on my holiday!!!??

The health spa was good, my dad went in for his first ever massage and it definitely sorted out his back problem. They had lots on offer and very reasonable prices!!

The water sports were brilliant, bearing in mind they were all free - went kayaking, body boarding and my dad had a catamaran lesson and then took the little catamaran out for himself, which was such fun.

The beach was amazing, very clean with white sand and the beach went on for miles, you could see the beach bars at Caberete from our hotel. The kite surfing was quite an experience (no, I didn't have a go!!??), later on in the afternoon when the wind picked up even more, hundreds go out along with the windsurfers - it was a surfers paradise out there!! If you want to have a go there were lots of places along the beach where you could hire the kit from. It was amazing watching them all and the stunts were fab!

Nightlife..........we walked along the beach a couple of times at night to get to the beach bars at Caberete - we felt safe, it's was fine!! It was about a 20 mins stroll to get there, but everything kind of shuts down at midnight except for Friday and Saturday when it goes on until 2am. Very surfer dude kind of place, everyone is there shorts and flip flops - a very chilled out sort of place - it was very relaxing!! You'll love it!!

TIP beware of your baggage allowance as they will charge you at the airports for excess luggage (inward and outward) - Gatwick were weighing our suit cases before we checked in and the couple in front of us had to pay for their excess luggage before checking-in, they had to show a receipt to say that it had been paid. It's not cheap either!

So overall a very, very enjoyable holiday and I do recommend it - Have a wonderful time!

" Well what can I say! This was my... "

Well what can I say! This was my second trip to the Dominican Republic and if I hadn't moved hotel I would not ever be returning again. The complex is small, very crowded, loud music geared towards the youngsters. The male entertainment staff were extremely randy with all the women and enjoyed groping at every opportunity. The food was adequate on a similar basis to school dinners, tended to be overcooked and left standing for ages, very limited choice.

The actual hotel rooms were very nice and the staff cleaned them everyday, can't complain on that score. The only complaint was that if you were sitting on your balcony every now and again there was a whiff of the sewers.... lovely!

I would not rate this hotel as a 4 star, possibly it would scrape a 3 star if the food improved.

The grounds are very pretty especially the beach, but if you go on there beware of being constantly hassled to buy items off the locals.

If you like to queue for a drink be prepared to. Wait approximately 15 minutes and make sure you stipulate what you want in quantity as it mostly consists of one half ice and the other half in spirits with a dash of mixer. Forget cocktails as you will get a slush puppy instead, not mixed in a blender as at other hotels.

Some parents are happy for their children to have a pee in the bushes and on one occasion there was a small turd on the edge of the pool.

If you want a quiet holiday forget this place, it was like Butlins abroad.

We moved to a hotel in Playa Dorada, The Victoria Beach Resort and that was absolutely fantastic, it made our holiday, more what we were accustomed to from our last visit. Proper mixed drinks, a good selection of freshly prepared food, beautiful rooms. The staff were friendly and kept their hands to themselves. Entertainment if you wanted it and also quiet areas to relax in. Felt like I was finally on holiday!!

" In this review I’m just going to... "

In this review I’m just going to put my honest opinion (by the way I am 16). I went there with ma family and I had been having nightmares bout this hotel but when I got there I was like....oh no they have came true...but then you look around the corner and you are lost for words. Me and my brother were astonished.
Palm trees and the sound of people laughing made me feel really welcome. As we were the new people we really stuck out because we were so pale and had not yet gained the tan which everyone else had got.

The entertainment people greeted us with open arms and were keen to know about us and where we came from.
The food! Well what can I say except from yummy yummy. I am a picky eater but they seemed to have something I liked every single day.

The drinks!! Because I was too young to have alcoholic drinks I had this banana mama thing which was really refreshing and made out of fresh fruit and ice. I can tell you something the alcohol must be strong because we would sit there at night watching people get tipsy and my dad felt it after the first drink. (Which is specially made)

The entertainment! This was the best. I don’t think anything could match it. Everyone was so friendly and would always try and get you involved. The entertainment people are really easy to spot. They have big smiles on their faces and have 'we are the sun' on the back of their bright yellow tops!! The evening entertainment was really good although a bit late for ma little brother. Because I made some friends out there, I was able to stay out as they went back to the room way before the entertainment started so I stayed out with them.

Dancing lessons and Spanish lessons!! These are a must they are so funny and you get to learn their culture as well.

Italian and Mexican!! These were great but I had a preferential to Italian but that was only because that’s where I had my birthday meal. They made me a birthday cake (which was too big and got shared with other people enjoying the meal at the Italian) and put balloons on the back of my chair.

I have seen some people have written that they only wanted the girls for one thing. But this is just so untrue. They just wanted to have a fun time and for you to remember them.
Yes ok this hotel is not perfect and the only thing that I can really complain about is the music. Because when you get home you are singing the songs for ages and me and my brother keep singing them now and sometimes it gets quite annoying. And also the fact that I can’t seem to find the songs anywhere is frustrating! But that’s it.

The rooms. When we first got there the rooms where separated and I was in a room by myself which we did not like or want so that day we went and asked them to change the rooms. They apologised loads and the next day we got a 2 rooms which were interconnected by a door which I found extremely helpful.

The disco: the entertainment crew go down there and it’s a laugh. They all get you to dance, so funny!!!

" Absolutely fantastic hotel. First... "

Absolutely fantastic hotel. First time my husband and I had traveled to the Caribbean and we really must go back. The weather was brilliant, the hotel was clean and bright. The staff were very friendly and we made many friends both locals and other tourists. The hotel facilities were very good particularly if you enjoy or wish to try the water sports. We enjoyed watching the enthusiastic learners on the windsurfers from the luxury of our sun beds on the beach!

Cabaret is quite windy but this was very pleasant as it served to reduce the intense heat and humidity somewhat. You really do need plenty of high factor sun cream! For those who don't have to watch the waistline, you can eat and drink 24/7. Plenty of variety and a different themed evening meal every day. The shows were of a good standard although we never managed to stay awake long enough to see the ends of these after sea air all day and the many cocktails available! The rooms were comfortable and have recently had cable boxes installed, the air conditioning was a godsend.

The only negative point here were the reps from the viva hotel chain that tried to get the Brits to attend meetings for a vacation club, they were pushy and persistent but never managed to get us to go! They get paid commission so try to persuade everyone to attend. Apart from that, the hotel would get 10/10......perhaps next year?

" This was one of my best holidays. The... "

This was one of my best holidays. The accommodation was excellent. There was lots of things to do like Darts, bocce ball, dancing, the crazy games, bingo and lots more (remember to try and win cause you get a bottle of rum or if your a kid you get a lollypop but it not very useful if you has braces).

The food at the buffet was great same with the Italian cause they were quick, but at the Mexican they were very slow so if you want to see the show don’t book for 9. The staff like the maid and that were great (not the animation staff yet) the check in staff were fast and easy.

The animation staff were incredible if they were not there I would have had a boring holiday because there shows were funny like the comedy show and they made all the games better. so thanks to William, Jordon, Robert, Broulio and the rest thanks for a great holiday. hope to come back next year.

" This was my first time to Dominican... "

This was my first time to Dominican Republic, and I am ready to go back!! I went with a friend and we had the BEST time - most of it was due to the staff at the hotel - the animation team (entertainment) and the water sports team were exceptional!

The food was much better then I expected in an all inclusive (the quality was very good) as were the rooms/facilities. I was sold the ticket as a 3 star, but the hotel website said 4 star - I personally would say its well worth the 4 stars! I can't get over how friendly and 'happy' the animation and water sports people were - they do VERY long days, but never seem exhausted and will greet you with a big smile (and a hug and a kiss, if you are comfortable with it!).

I was warned about the timeshare people, but only got asked once - told them I didn’t have a job ;-) and they soon left us alone!

I also spoke to people that had stayed at other hotels (nearby) and all told me that this was the best and are only going to stay at this place - don’t get me wrong, they didn’t have 'bad' experiences at the other hotels, it was purely the 'activities' and the staff that made this one better!

Highly recommended - I'm saving now, to go again!

" Just got back and what a holiday,

Just got back and what a holiday,

The hotel was kept very clean and they do there very best to keep it bug Free ( air conditioning works well to), the food was good and the drinks flowed nicely.

The hotel is directly on the beach in the morning there is little wind and it picks up in the afternoon.

The fresh water pool is great and the pool guy keeps it clean.

The hotels entertainment staff are fantastic, (look up Jordan and Teresa to learn Salsa). The team run around all day providing loads of activities and then if that’s not enough in the evenings it is SHOWTIME, these are talented dancers and comedians recommended shows are Grease and the comedy shows.

If you are a couple under thirty you will not have any problems with the time share people. Beach sales man are polite if you say no most of the time they will leave it at that.
otherwise walk along by the waves they do not want to get there feet wet.

We book our tours with Pot fun (cabaret) there were great and low prices and one trip was cancelled and we had no trouble getting our money back.

Again great holiday and I am going back.

" This was our first holiday in the... "

This was our first holiday in the Dominican and has left us wanting to return the hotel was excellent and great value for money.
<br><br>
The town can be reached by walking along the beach approx 20 mins. Do not venture via the road at the front of the hotel its very dusty and quite dangerous the monster truck trip was very interesting and a great day out, do not miss the swim with dolphins or sharks for the more adventurous.
We couldn’t believe how hard the staff worked especially those that cleaned the beach after the hurricane.
<br><br>
All inclusive really means AI here with our hotel fridge being stocked daily with soft drinks great holiday great price.

" We had an excellent all inclusive... "

We had an excellent all inclusive holiday at this hotel in September 2004. The complex is a 10 min walk into the town centre along a busy road, but with no pavements to walk on, and as the locals drive on any side of the road that they like, it is better and much safer to stroll along the beach into town. The food was excellent, with plenty of choice and variety. The staff very friendly and helpful. Every evening, the entertainment staff put on an hour long show.

We were at this hotel during ‘hurricane Jeanne’, although the facilities were suspended for 24hrs while the hurricane passed, we were kept well informed of what was happening, with food and drink brought to our room. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a quiet restful holiday
