San Luis Hotel Reviews
" fantastic holiday !! "
Submitted By: bateson familyThe poolside pasta/pizza bar was also very good, daily pasta and pizza option.
The sports facilities excellent, especially as we had a very sporty 14 year old with us !
The staff were very polite and helpful. The restaurant has an inside and outdoor area and on our last evening we requested a table outside, the area was full but the restaurant manager soon found us a table outside. The evening entertainment a bit cheesy at times but game for a laugh!
On the whole a quiet, relaxing holiday with good food and excellent facilities, but this is typical menorca, if you dont like a quiet tranquil holiday then avoid menorca!
Looking forward to returning next year.
" San Luis is OK "
Submitted By: ianj.townsendThe hotel is nice the rooms are a bit small and the beds were uncomfortable.
The all inclusive was good although the poolside snacks weren't as good as other all inclusives I have stayed at before so we went to the dining room at lunch time as well.
The food was as expected plenty of fresh fruit and salad. The omlettes at breakfast were excellent.
The resort of S'Algar is tiny there is nothing apart from a supermarket. No beach in this area Punta Prima further down the coast was better and a bit more lively.
For a first holiday was a 9 month onld the San Luis was perfect all quiet by eleven very clean and other small children to mix with.
Trip to Mahon was excellent really lovely city worth a visit.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: picasso123Fancy a day out of San Quentin- sorry San Luis, do not entertain the Reps trips, if you ever see the Rep, they are a total rip-off, the local but is good but plan in advance for the last bus back.
Even as the last batch of holiday makers was arriving, tables & chairs were being cleaned and put into winter storage, poolside snackbar was emptied & closed and food got more repetitive to lower the kitchen stock.
On the whole I was happy to return home, at a different time of year the Hotel & Resort may be more alive, but my experience of the October booking was the pits, it has put me off ever visiting Menorca again, this tim of year it will be mainland Spain or Madeira in future

Submitted By: Mrs K MosesFood, there was always lots of choice, you can eat inside or outdoors, you are shown to a table which is nice especially when busy. You can enter the restaurant upto the closing time and the food is left for you to choose from with no rush.In other hotels we have found that the food is quickly removed as soon as it's closing time.
The pizza/ pasta restaurant is great, we found either the pizza or pasta of the day a suitable choice each time we went( which was most days).
The poolside bar is only 11am -5pm which just isn't long enough, the girl who serves in this bar is super always happy, friendly and wears a smile!
The sports area has lots of choice, tennis, table tennis, mountain bikes, bowling etc which is great if you want a change from the pool. No inflatables are allowed in the pool which is a bit boring.
The small beach is a 15 minute walk, it is well worth it as it's so idyll.
The only problem we had was the resort is so quiet, only 2-3 shops and bars. We like to have a walk around at night whilst the mini disco is on but in S'algar that isn't really worth doing.

Submitted By: Miss C DouglasThe only niggle was the bar service - very slow, definitely need more staff to man it. The poolside bar is probably the best bet, but is only open at certain times.
Other than that, we all had a great time and to anyone going soon - I'm jealous!!

Submitted By: Mrs J S MooreThe food was ok, but one thing that let it down, was the all inclusive bit...... If you ate at the pool bar (Pasta & Pizza), then you only get a choice of the dish of the day plus one other as part of the All Inclusive, so if you want something else, you have to pay a surcharge... ranging from 3-8 euros. The buffet wasn't bad always something there, really nice salmon and steaks on the grill!! lots of salad, fresh fruit, and the puddings are fantastic!! you must try the chocolate mousse... doesn't look like much, but if you have a thing for chocolate you will be sorted! There are lots of kitchen people around, so the food doesn't get left for ages under the heat lamps, but are regularly removed and fresh stuff put there. The waiters are really helpful and friendly too.
The drinks at the lobby bar finish at 11pm for those on All Inclusive, then you have to pay! To say that the bar staff are not overly customer orientated, maybe a slight understatement! They will stand and chat for a good 5 mins (between themselves) or even leave the bar whilst you are standing there waiting!!... without even acknowledging you are there!!! Bl**dy annoying that was!! then they serve people in no particular order...
The childrens pool is absolutely freezing, and stuck at the back of the grounds under loads of pine trees, so very shaded. The pool area is not as big as it looks in the photos, its also been decked now which is better.
We are a family of 5, small child of 3, two older teenagers... wouldn't recommend for older ones (16+) unless they are outgoing and sporty... loads of stuff by the sports bar, mountain biking (must take your trainers!!!!), mini golf, bowls, boules, tennis, football, gym.. then the usual pool tables/air hockey.....
Very quiet resort, so don't expect too much nightlife.. all the entertainment finishes at 11pm!

Submitted By: Mrs Debbie StampsThe hotel entertainment at night was usually ok (one or two blips) but the children's animation were excellent, as were the staff, who were always very friendly and helpful.
There isn't much to do outside of the hotel at night and older teenagers may find this a bit too quiet for them. Perfect for families and couples though.
Free train (7pm-10pm) runs every 20 mins or so and has several drop-off points. Very few shops so if you want shops you'll have to go into Mahon (20 minute drive away).
Sports facilities great and for a 10 euro refundable deposit you can hire beach towels from main reception (less luggage).
There is a lido with steps into the sea but we preferred to use the pool at the hotel, although some friends we met walked to the next cove and said the beach there was lovely.
All inclusive is a must if you have children as drinks can be expensive and with AI all drinks, ice creams, nuts, crisps are free throughout the day and evening.
Definitely going back next year.
" We arrived very late to the hotel... "
Submitted By: Mrs N IrvingBreakfast was the usual buffet style and continental very nice but the same every day.
This was served between 07:00 and 09:30.
There was no bar All Inclusive starting untill 11:00 so if you want tea or soft drink in between not good cause u had to pay.
The rooms are spacious even with 3 beds in them and very clean, bathrooms very modern and hairdryer in them. We had sea view rooms witch is a must as the other rooms over look the carpark.
Hotel main areas were very clean and always tidy, pool areas are very nice and as we went in june we always got a good spot all though the pools in the main San Luis hotel are to deep for small children unless in with and adult.
The best option as we did every day was to walk down to the Los Narangos apartments where you can still get All inclusive, one or two familes and plenty of space. The pool down here was the best for children as they could stand up in the water.
Lunch at the poolside bar was as others said 3 items to choose from on All Inc pizza of the day a pasta dish and ice cream etc and one free drink.
Lunch in the main hotel was buffet style nice food, pretty much the same every day, chips and meat dishes fish and pasta, and also soup of the day, cold meats and salad. Not much choice if you have very fussy kids with you.
Evening entertainment wasn't the best and some times very laugh able, i hope you get to see the flamenco dancers and the magican as they were about the best.
Kinds mini disco is 20:45 -21:30 and its the normal two reps and a few kiddy songs.
Mini club during the day is 10:00- 12:15 over at the sports bar across from the main hotel carpark, this was ok but my kids were bored and only went once. They are 8,6.
The transfer from the Airport with Thomson has no rep at this hotel as they have the new phone line thing call if you have a problem, all though the First choice rep was very nice and said if we needed anything to see her about it.
Weather was very change able for June and we did see some rain and clouds but, still we have come home with very nice tans.
SAGA HOTEL = lots of older folks sat reading there books and playing cards, a few funny look from them if the chilldren were making noise !!
I took drinks to the room and nobody stoped me i even took my drink from luch or tea with me into the main hotel.
The lobby bar staff are very slow except if you are a paying customer, and there was one that i think was head man and he was very moody if ordering more than 4 drinks !!
saying that there were two younger men who tried very hard to please everyone.
Poolside bar oprn for a few hours a day and had to go and get the woman from the main bar nearly all the time if you wanted out, as she didnt stay in the hut like she should ov !!
Overall a nice man made resort sport 3 shops and 2 hotels a diving centre and 3 lots of apartments , there is no where to walk to in the evenings and could be very boring.
Back at the hotel they stop All Inc at 11:00 pm, and like everyone in bed by midnight.
In fact we were using the computers late one night and they turned all the lights off !!
very rude in deed.
Balcony lights go off at 12:30pm and people bang on walls to tell u to shut up, so you cant even have a late night in your room, the wall bangers are the SAGA guest !!
Overall we had a great week but that is long enough here in this resort, Menorca is lovley but would like to try the North next time.

Submitted By: Mr Ma GreenThe food was good with a great choice, something for everyone. The resort is very quiet so if you are taking teenagers or want nightlife this is not the place to go. The beach is ten minutes walk away but well worth a visit.
The bus into Mahon is a bit like a cattle truck as they pack that many people on so be prepared to stand for the duration of the journey. The entertainment was the only disappointment as it was not very good.

Submitted By: Mrs S BurrowsWe thought the hotel was superb and had brilliant facilities. Our hotel rooms were clean and provided us with a good base for our holiday. The hotel was clean and friendly and the food and drink (including alcohol) was of a good standard.
It was a family friendly hotel without it feeling like a Butlins in the sun!! It was lively without being rowdy and it felt safe for our daughter to play and run around.
The staff were friendly and were always on hand to help and we found the entertainment at times laughable (the magician whose tricks kept going wrong was most amusing!), but always enjoyable and if the evening entertainment didn't take your fancy, then nobody is forcing you to stay and watch!
My only complaint, and it is a small one, is that in the morning, if you were not going into the restaurant, there were no drinking facilities until after 10am. Not good when you have a 3 year old that gets up at 8 every morning and all you want is a coffee! It is also a shame that you cannot take drinks to your room or have drink making facilities in the room, but in the scheme of things, not a huge disappointment.
The resort of S'Algar itself was very beautiful and although there was no beach, it was only a short walk away to a lovely cove.
In the evening, if you are all inclusive, you can use the facilities of other hotels within the all inclusive package and the Asian restaurant looked and sounded lovely, but unfortunately, we left it too late to make a reservation and missed out. I would highly recommend going to the Asian restaurant early in the holiday to make sure you can make a reservation during your stay. There are also a few bars and restaurants near the sea front and they were also run by very friendly people and always made you feel welcome.
On Menorca itself, I would recommend hiring a car as it is a beautiful island and well worth visiting a few places during your stay. On the whole one of the best holidays I've ever had and will be going back without a doubt.

Submitted By: Mrs Suzanna KrykantBecause it is not a totally all inclusive hotel even with an armband you constantly have to state your room number for drinks and meals. The staff treat AI customers differently, i.e. smaller wine glasses and no waiter service.
Some of the staff were very rude especially the bar staff and the guy that serves in the poolside bar very lazy and slow. The games room for some reason is all closed and locked up at 6 in the evening which we thought very strange.
The restaurant don’t open the outside doors at lunchtime and when we asked why they said it was too hot! The Asia restaurant only provide half a glass of wine with the meal and if you want more you have to buy it! This is not all inclusive.
The pasta restaurant by the pool is only open 3 hours a day which we felt was a waste and AI guests had a small option to choose from without having to pay which we thought was a bit off!
On the plus side the hotel was very clean and the food good. Also thought the little train was good fun but should run all day!

The food is ok but after 10 days I had had enough. I would recommend the Asian restaurant though. We were all inclusive and you are allowed to go once during your stay but we liked it so much we paid extra to go another time.
If you want a sunbed then you need to get up early. People were putting their towels down from 6.45am in the morning which was ridiculous. I normally went down at 8am and could get the 3 beds we needed. I hate doing it but if you don't, then getting a bed is difficult.
Overall this was a great break, but we love the quiet and knew what to expect. I spoke to a lot of people that found it too quiet initially but got used to it in the end.
Advice: Quiet and out of the way
Activities: Go to the Asian for a meal
