Palacio Avenida

Good base from which to explore Palma. Was in walking distance of the old town. Hotel is modern, clean and the staff helpful and friendly. Only thing I'd say is that it was a bit pricey (€120 per room per night) for what you get. Breakfast was not included. There was no view to speak of but otherwise the room was well appointed with TV (no english channels) mini bar and hair dryer. If I was going back to palma I'd probably be looking for something with a little more soul.

Stayed at the Palacio Avenida in August and it was fantastic. The rooms, although not overly spacious, were very modern and airy and the decoration was minimal and stylish. The bathroom was great and there was even a jet shower on the wall. The staff were business like but very helpful and the breakfast was very good, although it was just continental, which suited us fine. We had originally booked the UR De San Miguel Hotel, but as a previous reviewer remarked we were given the same excuses of overbooking and burst pipes. I think this must happen regularly. The Palacio Avenida was nice but just not what we booked, once we had unpacked we just did not want the bother of packing again to move back to San Miguel Hotel once a room became available.

I booked the hotel because of a change of a sailing trip for one night at the same day I checked in. The price was 80 Euro for a single room [ without breakfast ] I arrived at the hotel two hours after I booked it. Having read some of the previous reviews I am slightly confused. My Husband and I are seasoned travellers and have high standards. However the Palacio Avenida succeded all of these. We were delighted with the central location, as Palma is an easy to walk city with no need for taxis. Buses and trains are 2 minutes away to explore Mallorca. This hotel was a real find. I understand it has only been open since January and we were able to get a reduced rate as an opening offer. The rooms are very modern and the staff are friendly and helpful. In terms of location it's about 15 min walk to the centre of the old town. There are also of plenty shops and department stores nearby. The transport links are excellent. We decided on friday to go to palma for the weekend. And this hotel indeed was a good find. We arrived early at the hotel, and they checked us in early, that was a treat. Relaxed for a bit and then took off. The location is very good. The bus from the airport dropped us just outside the hotel, which is apparently the main hub for lot of buses and trains. The rooms are decent, nothing spectacular that would make you say - WOW, but not bad at all, for the price and location.

We also paid to stay at the Misión de San Miguel. On arrival, we were advised that due to overbooking, we had to go to the Palacio Avenida, part of the same hotel chain. In an effort to placate us, we were told that the alternative hotel was an `upgrade’, having recently been refurbished and earning 5 star ratings. Situated on the corner of Placa d'Espanya, the hotel is located in a converted cinema. Hotel was only opened in Jan. 2009 so rooms were spotless, and well proportioned. Our room had a view over the square. Didn't have breakfast in hotel, so can't comment on that, but overall, I'd certainly recommend hotel or return when in Palma.

We had originally been booked into Hotel Mision de San Miguel but due to their problems we were moved to Hotel Palacio Avenida. The reception staff were welcoming, the location excellent and the rooms were large. However, the cleanliness was not good enough. The room was only vacuumed once during the 7 nights we were there and the towels were not changed often enough, unless prompted.
