Melia Madeira Mare

An excellent hotel. We had a very good reception and we were pleased throughout our stay. The gorgeous spa area is a real plus and the pool area is very pleasing. It was a 'soft opening' time when we went so the resturant wasnt in full swing as the hotel wasnt even half full so the evening meals were not of a 5 star standard, but then again they were free so you couldnt complain. We stayed for our honeymoon in April. Allocated a superior room...........great balcony and the views are amazing. As the hotel was in a start up situation a few areas for improvement existed. Breakfast was the usual hotel buffet. However, a few items were not stocked up when supplies ran out. I am sure that this will improve once the seasons evolves. Just back from a long weekend in Melia Madeira Mare. It was fantastic. The hotel is amazing, the decoration is 5 stars. the isn't anything that I didn't like it. The room is great, very confortable, with a fantastic view and the bathroom the best that I ever had in a hotel. The staff is very friendly and dedicated although they need a little more experience for example, but it is normal because the hotel is new. The breakfast is very good, and the spa is luxurious. just back from a week at the melia lovely,beautiful hotel. cant say a bad thing about it ,staff so polite and helpful we were in superior room well worth the money beautiful terrace/balcony it was the biggest i have ever had at an hotel the hotel decor is so nice maid service so good , would highly reccommend it

We just came back from a week on a Thomas Cook deal at the 5 star Melia Madeira. It has been open just a few weeks, we really enjoyed our stay. The environment is very modern and the facilities are great. The room was a good size and a sparkling well designed modern bathroom. We stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon in the last week of March, and we think that it deserved the 5 star category. The facilities are great, the rooms have a beautiful decoration and incredible bathrooms. The breakfast was good, with fruit (like pineapple, Banana, Watermelon, sometimes papaya), pancakes, large variety of bread but with a very limited option of croissants (only very little ones with no quality). I have recently come back from Melia Madeira Mare Hotel and I have to say I was very impressed. I went with my mother to completely relax and destress. The hotel is absolutely lovely and luxurious. The reception area is large and spacious with plenty of large couches to lounge in. The staff are extremely friendly and cannot seem to do enough to help you. just returned from one week at melia mare( the official opening was last friday) the spa is now open as is the gym etc.everything was fantastic.rooms were ultra modern with the most comfortable beds and pillows we have ever had in any hotel.the staff were without exception totally dedicated.the five star status is reflected however in the prices in the bar and snack bar but there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the immediate area.getting about is easy due to the frequent local buses.one stops immediately on the prom at the back of... more

We opted to stay at the new MELIA MADEIRA MARE in January this year as we were curious to experience this new Brand hotel on the island. We were allocated a huge room with an equally large bathroom and a superb balcony with a fantastic view of the sea. Staff and service were absolutely first class and well deserving of their 5 star status. We have stayed in other 5 star hotels in Funchal during our previous visits and can certainly recommend this new contemporary hotel to anyone.
