NH Krystal Puerto Vallarta Hotel

Hi, My husband and I stayed here last Xmas. I saw a picture online and only read pretty good things online about the Krystal, I should have waited. The room they put us in was next to like swamp or something,but it wasnt too bad,we were only there to sleep. We were rudely treated when we went to a timeshare presentation and refused to buy one. We have been going to the Krystal during Spring break for the last 4 years. Last visit was March 2003. We use a time share.Four years ago it was well run and nice. Found a definate deterioration in both accommodation and restaurants.The last two years we didn't get the suite size we ordered and paid for. Embarrassing if you end up with two rooms and 6 people. Lots of promises from management, but one gets passed around and nothing happens. Used to be 3 restaurants, now there are two, but only one is open at any given time - food is fine.... more

It's been about 4 years since I went to Puerto Vallarta (I believe 1999) and I Know there have been moments of severe weather conditions so I don't know if this remains true... but Krystal was one of the best places I could have imagined. I loved the swim up bars and our room was part of somewhat of a villa. I went with a group of 8 and for every two rooms there was a private, enclosed pool --- so cool not to mention service was great too. I would highly recommend staying there assuming things are the same!!!

I stayed @ the KRYSTAL from 8/7-8/10 and loved it. My wife and I went for a 2nd honeymoon and I booked this hotel for 3 nights and the Westin for an additional 2 nights to ensure that we didn't get stuck @ a bad hotel. After our 3 nights, we didn't want to go to the WESTIN but were obligated due to prepayment. AFter the 2 nights @ the WESTIN, we came back to the KRYSTAL. We love PV, but usually stat at the Sheraton Buganvilias. This year, I made the mistake of booking the Krystal...Not only was the hotel really old and dirty, the a/c in the first room we had didn't work, our 2nd room had a 2 inch long roach on the ceiling, the a/c was almost decent, so we killed the roach and stayed. The 3rd night of our 6 nite trip, the college kids arrived, screaming and banging doors ALL FLIPPIN' NIGHT LONG. THe Krystal was like staying in alittle town in Mexico. The large resort had paved streets, trees, flowers, shops, resturants, great pools (3 large), a wonderful beach and friendly staff. We were upgraded to a villa, sharing a private pool with two other rooms. It was located close to the main, free-form pool and access to the beach. I loved the Krystal, though the first room we were given was situated by a disco and we had to move. The management moved us willingly and we were given a lovely suite. The pools were gorgeous, and the food was wonderful and reasonably priced. The breakfast buffet was incredible with so many choices we ate there more than once just to taste everything. People were gracious and friendly. The hotel was not opulent; it was more old world and comfortable. I'd stay there again.

We have stayed there for the last five years and own a time share there. We love the hotel and its grounds. However, the service could not be worse. They notified us in February 2003 that they could not honor our res. for the following month (res. made 3/2002) because of hurricane damage. They will not answer phone or emails and there is no recourse to anyone. EVERYTHING is a problem in attempting to deal with time share admin and has been for the last four years..

I stayed 5 days and I could not use the pool, not to say a "palapa", few beach chairs. The clerks just say, we can't do anything for you. The room was ok but we didn't enjoy the stay. The facilities are exceeded by far.

The most awful place to stay. I am sorry I do not mean to be rude, but anyone who has given this hotel more than a bad review has never experienced even a moderate let alone deluxe hotel. Dirty and filty, everything worn down, cracks on the walls and almost every one of the stairs, annoying time share people, rocky beach, just terrible.
