Hotel La Certosa

We had a pleasant, 4-day stay at the hotel as a last leg of our trip through central and southern Italy. The pluses: the room we had was a spacious quad - very nice; a great bathroom; nice verandah. More pluses: very scenic location, right on the water, great food for dinner. The minuses: the staff really didn't seem to care whether we were there or not; aloof. Two couples in late fifties. Stayed five nights in September as part of 3 week independant tour of Italy. My faith in independant travel was justified ten fold in finding this fabulous real Italian Family hotel in a beautiful small cove Alfonso,Allexandro and Enzo , Thank you for your hospiltality and your patience sometimes, with our quaint English habits. The hotel is a little shabby from the outside - it was formerly a monestary and is very old - but don't let that deter you. Inside, the restaurant has a large verandah which is probably not more than 2 metres from the beach. Our room was clean and comfortable with en suite facilities of a high standard. There was a small balcony which looked out directly onto the bay. The pier (right outside the hotel) is quite busy during the day and early evening, with the comings and goings of small boats. everything was perfect for us at this hotel. room was clean, bathroom was big and the view from our balcony was picture perfect. great place to relax and to tour from. alfonso thanks for our great dinners each evening and your wine selection. we dined looking out on the bay and a full moon came up over the headland and lit up the sea. it was sooo perfect. you can have a swim right in front of the hotel, they also have beach chairs. the dock at the marina is fun to watch all the comings and goings of the day. we took a tour with the... more

Four of us stayed in Marina del Cantone, a small fishing village in the Massa Lubrense area of the Sorrento Peninsula in April of 2005. We stayed at the charming family-run Hotel Certosa, which is located right on the beach. The Massa Lubrense area has 5 or 6 color-coded barely-utilized hiking trails for miles in every direction, with dramatic aqua-colored sea and mountain views. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel La Certosa for a week in late October and found it to be absolutely charming. We can't say enough good things about it. The blue-tiled bedroom with bath was simply furnished and modest in size but very comfortable and had a small terrace overlooking the Mediterranean that was nice for relaxing and great for viewing both sunrises and sunsets. We had a great stay at La Certosa and we thoroughly recommend it to you. Right on the beach, the family-run hotel was a real delight. We had been travelling for a while so it was amazing to stay somewhere so peaceful with a gorgeous setting - and to be hosted by friendly faces who were proud to be recommending the dishes that mama had made fresh that morning! The rooms were also a good size with lovely tiled floors and bathrooms.

We stayed at the Hotel La Certosa for 4 nights in September 2003. Our room was small and plainly furnished but had a nice balcony overlooking the beach. Breakfast was simple: rolls, cereal and great coffee. The owner, Alfonso makes sure guests are happy. The hotel is steps from the beach and you have use of beach chairs and umbrellas. You can rent small boats and arrange to take ferries to Capri. The bus to Sorrento is located up the hill from the hotel. The hotel restaurant is very good. Everything is homemade!
