Stll dreaming of the Hotel Palladio by thebritkate
10 / 10

I cannot say enough about this charming family run hotel. It would be a highlight of any trip to Sicily.

Run by father and daughter, they provide genuinely caring and considerate service. The rooms are lovely, many with balconies and views. And the food!

We arrived on a rainy windswept night, the weather forcing us to give up our goal of driving to Taormina. We saw 2 hotels, chose the one closest to the sea, knocked on the wrong door and were warmly welcomed up the stairs through the owners private apartment.

Despite our late arrival - almost 8pm - we were invited to make a choice from the very reasonable prix fixe 2/3 course dinner menu, which was about to be served.

Three meals are served each day and cooked with a gourmet's passion by the owner. Breakfast is an excellent buffet, served with the same abundance and discernment in the beautiful glass enclosed dining salon with wonderful views and light. You can read the lunch and dinner menus and decide whether or not to eat in.

You will not be disappointed. I still dream of the bucatini with ragout and fresh ricotta that surprised and soothed us on our first night.

The public rooms are charmingly furnished and hung with the paintings of the owners mother which really give personality and the feeling of staying in a well loved home that welcomes guests.

This is a hotel that I hope to go back to again and again.

good value, beach front by Jazibe
6 / 10

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of february 2007, after staying for a few days in Taormina. The Hotel is right across from the beach, which is nice, but in our case the weather did not cooperate. If coming by bus, you should let the driver know exactly WHAT stop you need, since there are more than 1 stops in Giardini Naxos (the hotel's website makes it seem like the bus station ir right next door, when it actuallity its NOT a station, just a stop, and its NOT next door, but about 1 block away). Tell the driver where you're going, it might help to say you're going to the church with the pointy top, which is right next door and might be more recognizable to the driver than the hotel. We ended up having to take a cab because we had our luggage with us and did not know exactly how far the hotel was from where we got dropped off.

The staff (family) is friendly and they were expecting us, so check in was ok. The room was large, but there was a "smell". Bathroom was large too, with a tub, but no shower courtain. we got a balcony with a great view. We had to take a cab to Catania's airport (for 90 euros!!! we had no other choice and they knew it), and the hotel was kind enough to charge 100 euro to our card and give us the cash, as we were having problems with the ATM. (NOTE: make sure you check the bus schedule if you're going to the Catania airport, the buses are not as frequent on weekends, and have a rather weird schedule anyways, so plan your departure ahead of time. The staff checked the schedule for us.). Breakfast was included, and was a a very small selection of salami and cheese, yoghurt and mermelade and granola, coffee, milk and pastries. Dont expect to be waited on, this was purely serve-yourself. If you get a room on the 3rd floor (like we did), you will probably wake up to the sound of dishes being thrown around in the kitchen area, when the not-so-friendly kitchen lady is clearing tables (we were right next door, although we woke up before the noise started).

This was an ok hotel for the money (we payed 60 euro per night). Dont expect a lot and you wont be dissapointed.

great stay in a beautiful town by KevinSt.Catharines
8 / 10

The Hotel Palladio is located in Giardini Naxos, which is just below the beautiful town of Taormina. Although overrun with touristy hotels and restaurants, Giardini Naxos is certainly more affordable than Taormina, and just a short bus or taxi ride away. The Hotel Palladio was a great place to stay, with a very friendly, family run staff. Our room had a beautiful balcony view of the Mediterranean, was very clean, and had all the ammenties needed to be comfortable. Prices were reasonable, and its location was very close to the bus stop to go up the mountain to Taormina. I highly recommend the Hotel Palladio to anyone.

Great little hotel, great location, great staff by A TripAdvisor Member

Just got back from a couple of days at The Hotel Palladio and we found it to be a really homely place, in fact a lovely original sicilian grand home with interesting furniture and loads of paintings.

The staff Antonella, Ivana and Luana could not be praised highly enough for their helpfulness and welcoming attitude and friendly smiles.

We stayed in a lovely double room, with sea view and balcony, ok it did overlook a petrol station as well which closed at 6pm, but it was still nice to sit there in the evening with a beer or well earned glass of vino and soak up the view and town atmosphere. Didn't have any problem with noise as the balcony door was double glazed, the air conditioning was very efficient and was needed.

The rooftop balcony was also good, great views where sicilian canapes and drinks are served in the evening.

Location was perfect, ideal for a stroll to one of the many restaurants and bars nearby, good public beach over the road and close to some great lidi, also just a stones throw from Taormina and Etna and Alcantara Valley.

Didn't have any trouble with the parking but can imagine it could be difficult in high season, but you can book a parking space with the Hotel in advance.

Would recommend Hotel Palladio for a short stay whilst touring the island, good value, very friendly and will return again.

not for light sleepers... by Nicholas48
4 / 10

I have just returned from a few days at the Hotel Palladio and although the staff are very helpful & friendly & the roof terrace is very pleasant - our room was very noisy as a main road passes at the front of the hotel & at the back. Our room also overlooked the petrol station opposite! The traffic is quite relentless throughout the night as well & I am surprised this has not been mentioned in other reviews - had I been aware of that fact I would not have chosen this hotel.

Wonderfully kind, caring and helpful people at the Palladio by A TripAdvisor Member

Everyone at the Hotel Palladio went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had an unfortunate incident leaving Catania airport but our best memories of our week's holiday will be of the exceptional level of help the staff gave us in sorting things out. The breakfasts and level of hotel service were excellent. The views were lovely and we found Sicily a very friendly place to be. The Palladio could not have done more to make us feel valued and ensure that our stay was a happy one.

An excellent 2 star hotel by LondonWales
10 / 10

I booked this hotel having read the reviews. We stayed for 2 nights. Parking is an issue I would imagine in the high summer but we were lucky and had the hotel parking space.

The hotel is a lovely old building with beautiful sea views which are worth paying for. The rooms have lots of character. Breakfast is buffet style - it has cakes, cereals but no hot food. The reception are incredibly friendly and helpful. There is a lovely balcony which catches the sun. As a previous writer stated - an ideal place when it is quiet. The hotel is ideal to drive to Taormina - a fantastic place.

2 stars would seem a bit unfair and worth staying here if you are doing a touring holiday

Winter storms but bargain hotel by cobbydaler45
10 / 10

We spent two stormy cold nights here in February. There was just one other guest. We were warm and comfortable and watched the dramatic sea from our sea view room. We had some difficulty finding food in the evening as many restaurants close for the winter. The amazing selection of jams for breakfast also is reduced to two ! The hotel staff were amazingly helpful sending heaps of information on what to do and see. We paid just 62 euros a night - what a bargain - but go in spring not winter.

Great Little Hotel! by A TripAdvisor Member
10 / 10

Stayed for 13 nights - despite 2 star rating the facilities and service were definately 4 star. Even though the style and decor of the hotel is unusual the services and plumbing are very efficient. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel due to its price and location. Excellent fresh food is available at a wine bar minutes away called 'A Putia' - Salvatore has a great hand with fish and authentic Sicilian cuisine! We also used to visit a very friendly cafe, after our meal, called 'Sesto Senso' for a coffee and brandy. These are much less expensive than the tourist restaurants at the Naxos end of the bay.

Quality of the sand opposite the hotel is poor, so you can walk approximately 1 mile along the bay to beautiful sands. Would recommend the boat trip which leaves from the beach - 11/2 hours for 10euros.

Get Room #31 - Best View! by microskis
8 / 10

This was a great hotel for a two star, and for the price. I found that generally hotels in sicily were pretty cheap, the entire island is pretty cheap compared to the rest of Italy. The sheets were clean, we were staying in a fantastic room, the Blue Room with the white canopy over the bed (see the expedia pictures). The breakfast is amazing - 15 kinds of jam, they don't lie. Only problem was with the shower, which was small and let water into the bathroom easily (there is a drain in the bathroom floor - never a good sign) Overall a great stay for the price. TripAdvisor seemed to low-ball the average stay - Ours was 80 Euro a night, which is about 100 or so USD. Request room 31.
