Atahotel Naxos Beach Resort

Stayed at the Naxos Beach mid October 2006. Having read the reports on here and holiday brochures the hotel didn’t live up to expectations. We stayed in a Standard Villa Accommodation. We had been allocated a room, but on entering the smell of the previous occupants smoking was so overpowering that within a few moments I realised that I could not stay in this room. We were part of a group booked almost a year in advance. After traveling almost 20 hours, our room wasn't ready. In fact it took hours to get our room, get a key that actually worked, and get our luggage. We found the staff very unhelpful, surly particularly to Americans. We might as well have been invisible! No orientation to the facility, didn't know there were shops or what the beach rules were. Lights didn't work, safe wouldn't open. No sense complaining, the desk staff ignored you. We stayed here for 6 nights, and enjoyed the lovely hotel immensely. The grounds are beautifully and immaculately kept, and our room was large, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We were taken to our villette in a little golf cart, and were very happily surprised to see the size of the rooms: one large main/master bedroom with large double bed, tv, mini fridge, digital coded safe, and lots of closet space; a large bathroom, and a smaller room with 2 twin beds that opens out onto the private terrace. Really loved the hotel itself, really clean and tidy. We are a family of two adults and two children age 11 and 2. We had a small villa which was lovely, but our view was of a brick wall, wish i would have asked to be moved! I was disappointed with the lack of activities for the children, as it was out of season everything closes on the 22nd of September which I wasnt told about, so we had no couple time at all. At 272 euro a day, you would at least expect some kind of guidance to where things are when you came to this hotel. Arrived at the hotel with the perception you had access to all the restaraunts at the resort, that is a error. We stayed at the villas, which were nice clean rooms, but found out the first morning that we could only eat breakfast in one of the restaraunts, which was more like a large cafeteria. In order to upgrade and eat at the other restaraunts it would be 40 euro per person a dayto upgrade and be able to eat at the other... more

A brilliantly run hotel. The food was fantastic - so much choice and beautifully presented - the staff serving were very efficient and polite. Wine included from a choice of red, white and rose. We had to wait for an hour before we could go to our rooms when we arrived so that was one downside. The beach facilities are very good and the kayaking is free. The hotel is very impressive, had a very quick and efficient check in.bags taken to our room by trolley service.rather upmarket feel to the hotel. glitzy reception area, spotless, clean, sparkly. wonderful garden areas, immaculate and kept to high standards. The restaurants were very good too, we had a great variety of food to choose from, and free wine and water too, which was an added bonus. Just returned from a fabulous family (2 Adults, 2 Children 5 & 7 yrs)holiday at this Hotel. We stayed in the Villette accomodation and had 2 rooms (Double & a twin) which seems to have been larger than other reviewers. The Room was excellent with Air Con and safety Deposit Box and a sizable Balcony. There is loads to do on the complex, Golf, Tennis, Football, 4 pools, Archery, Kids mini Club, Table Tennis, Pool, Beach etc. etc and we could have spent the whole of our two weeks on the complex. We very much enjoyed our holiday- we are a family of three two adults and a two year old. Weather was beautfiul and we found the hotel and resort very easy. Food was fine but a bit samey. Not many Brits staying (good and bad i suppose); plenty of Germans and Russians. Contrary to what many on here say, we found the reception staff and some of the bartenders extremely rude and unhelpful. The animation staff were excellent however. This hotel was fantastic in many ways, mainly it would be for families as the whole place is just geared towards children from the arranged activities to the number of staff to entertain them. I went with my husband just as a couple but we still thoroughly enjoyed nearly every moment, the only ones not being thin bedroom walls (very loud snorer next door!) and bedroom doors that slam closed quite loudly.
