Almost all good but for one serious issue……)

(Almost all good but for one serious issue……)My wife and our 5 year old twins had seven nights here. Firstly we liked the short transfer from the airport and the check-in was a smooth and welcoming process. The hotel is very clean and well presented. The rooms here are modern air-conditioned and well equipped, we had two linked rooms so we all had proper beds and two bathrooms (one had bath/shower the other had double shower). Unfortunately we were next to the maids storeroom and this woke us up at 6.30 most mornings, there was also a lot of shoe, chair and bed noise from the room above as an inherent result of concrete construction and tiled floors. I guess a quiet room is luck of the draw wherever you go, even though we specifically asked for a quiet room.
The reception and bar staff were all pleasant and polite and the entertainment crew were excellent, enthusiastic and really hard working. They provide all the usual sport and leisure activities throughout the day and all seemed to run smoothly. There are two pools in the main square, one half the size of the other and all with sun beds in a mixture of sunny and palm tree shaded areas (no parasols other than a row of fixed ones by the big pool) It’s worth pointing out that the music around the large pool was quite loud most of the time and there weren’t any secluded areas. We were pleased that there was no need to do the mad rush to reserve your sunbed as there was just the right number available.
We went for the All Inc option and it worked out well for us particularly as the children could choose and try whatever they wanted. There was a fair enough selection of all the usual buffet food and everything was well presented, clean and smoothly run although I must say if we were staying for more than a week we’d try some of the local restaurants just down the road by the beach to add some variety. The AI wine is Rioja in either white red or rosé and back in the UK would cost about £5.99 per bottle.
The evening entertainment was quite a high standard and comprised Michael Jackson tribute, various dance, acrobat/gymnasts, mock Grammy awards show etc and every night starts with a clown hosted mini disco.
Apparently the Spa has excellent facilities but as these all have to be paid for as extras we didn’t indulge.
We didn’t venture into the modern capital Mahon (Maó) although is only a short bus trip away so can’t comment on that although apparently it’s the destination for leather and boutique fashion stores etc.
The local beach is quite nice but very crowded during our week (Aug 19-26). I wouldn’t rate Punta Prima as a top Menorca beach destination, there are many better resorts if the beach is your thing. For us we were more interested with the children’s pools and the splash pool in particular is excellent although it’s located the other side of the car park and tennis courts. There is another small pool there too and another bar but food and drinks there are chargeable even if you are AI because these facilities are open to the public. There’s an outside public soft-floor playground there too with all the usual equipment.
The demographic during our week was about 60% Italian 20% Spanish 20% British and a mixture of couples and young families.
Now, here’s my gripe. The two swimming pools are both edged with regular bathroom tiles and are obviously very slippery. Both our children slipped over and we witnessed both children and adults fall over every day. This wasn’t enough to stop us using it with great care but left us feeling quite uncomfortable just waiting for the next accident.
Overall we had a really good holiday and it’s a well-run and equipped hotel, just a real shame about the ridiculous choice of pool tiles.

Have just returned from two weeks at this hotel, staying on an all inclusive basis. Can not fault the food, staff, facilities, entertainment or surroundings. The only complaint i would give was the beds were too hard, did not get used to them despite having firm bed at home. Very child friendly.

i thought the hotel was brilliant it was really relaxing the accomidation was amazing and i would recomend this hotel to anybody. the entertainment crew involve everybody there are 2 clubs the scimpa club which is for younger children or the maxi club which is for the bit older children which goes up to 12. theres is a teens club with lots of activities like archery rifle shooting football volleyball minigolf and the younger children can take part in these activities. there are two pools and a fitness room and a spa. the hotel is very lively. the entertainment is also very good and the entertainment team try there best to satisfy all. the only downfall is there is'nt a lot to do outside the hotel but the beach is lovely. anyone with younger children would find this resort fantastic.

Having just returned from a week at the Barcelo Pueblo
My sister-in-law and myself, found it excellent
the hotel has been refurbished as we were told at a cost of £36,000,000
We had no complaint`s with the room`s, food,or staff
Most of the All inclusive stayed around the pool`s,there were more than enough sun-bed`s,and the evening entertainment very professional
there is a lovely beach which we enjoyed, there were beach bar`s for cold drink`s(phew and we needed them)
it was really hot
So the thing to to do is go and enjoy your holiday

An excellent holiday. The hotel is modern and well maintained. The rooms are excellent and the restaurants and clean.
The variety and quality of food in the restaurants is excellent. The resort is very quiet and ideal for young families. There is little for older children to do. There are plenty of play parks in the resort.
The kids club at the hotel runs a range of activities that keep the kids happy. The swimming pools do not have lifeguards and the water is deep.

First impressions were not good. The lift to our room smelt like a Salford tower block.
We didn't unpack the first night as I thought we would be asking for a move. The rooms are small and basic, but clean.
The following morning things were better and we decided to give the Hotel a chance.
The Pools are ok, but could do with a proper clean, there's algae on the concrete above the tiles. Lots of sunbeds, but these get reserved earlyish.
Restaurant was excellent, lots of choice at every meal, plenty of good quality fish and meat dishes, lots of salads, daily regional specialities, decent choice for young children. The restaurant staff are all friendly and hard working, as are the bar staff, no queues for drink at any time.
The entertainment staff are very friendly and work hard to provide a varied program during the day. Night time entertainment is ok, with acts brought in on several nights.
We ended up having a really good holiday and I'm glad that I did not act on my first impression. Not many brits at the hotel, but those we spoke to seemed to enjoy the place too.

Having booked a holiday for myself,...

Having booked a holiday for myself, my husband, my son, his wife and three children at this hotel I decided a few days before going there to read the reviews given by other holiday makers on this site and I must admit I was horrified by most of them. I really wondered what I had let us all in for.
However, I have to say that we all had a terrific holiday. We went out to Menorca on 13th August 2007. We found everyone on Reception very friendly and helpful.
Bar staff were fine, not as friendly as in some places we have been to, but certainly no complaints about them.
We were fortunate enough to have two family rooms, which were quite adequate, though I have to admit the ordinary rooms were very small, but then hopefully you don't spend all your time in your room.
The rooms were clean and the staff looking after them always pleasant and friendly. As for the dining room and meals, we certainly had no complaints there, the choice of food was amazing, and yes sometimes it wasn't as hot as it might have been, but when you are feeding people in such large numbers it must be very difficult to keep everything piping hot all the time.
As for the Animation Team I don't think we have ever seen a team who are so professional and so in tune with each other, we thoroughly enjoyed there performances in the evenings and their company during the daytime, never were we made to feel unwelcome because we were English and not Spanish or Italian.
I noticed in one review that someone complained that the majority of holiday makers in this hotel were Spanish or Italian, but what did they expect. If you go abroad you are likely to meet foreigners. I wouldn't think that Spaniards or Italians going to Scotland or Wales would be surprised to find they had to mix with the Scots or the Welsh or even a few English.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this Hotel and would recommend it to anyone.

Excellent hotel with very good facilities. Evening entertainment is poor. Food is very good with a wide variety of dishes.
All inclusive is excellent value, bar staff are good.
The resort is very small and quiet but lots of things for small kids to do. The resort was busy with young families from different nations.
Excellent holiday would recommend to anyone with little kids looking for good value and quiet resort.

When I went on holiday to Menorca...

Feb 2007, Mr Mike Jones

When I went on holiday to Menorca after reading the reviews I was quite put off.
But as soon as I arrived at the hotel I knew it was going to be good!
My room that I shared with my mum and dad was quite small, but the family rooms are a lot bigger.
There are three pools which are suitable for different ages.
The food is nice although on some occasions I struggled to find something I liked. The bar staff are nice but sometimes serve out of turn at the bar.
The resort is quiet and it’s only a short walk down to the beach from the hotel. There isn’t any shops apart from a couple of beach shops opposite from the beach and a few bars.
The sea is nice and is quite warm with loads of rock pools to one side.
Renting a car is a must as you get to go to really nice beaches around the island and the other towns, like Mahon where there is a market and shops.
My only little complaints are that the minigolf bar (across from the hotel) is not all inclusive and the tennis is 10 euros.
If you get offered the chance to go to the fiesta in Sant lluis there is a lot of waiting around to do after the parade and a taxi would be better than the bus.
Even though this wasn’t my best holiday, I would go back as I had a really good time!

Oct 2006, Mr M Houldsworth

We went on a honeymoon/family holiday, and have to say it needs reviewing for British holiday makers.
The First Choice rep we only say him on the welcome meeting, we put a complaint postcard like he said, suppose to be 24hrscome back 5 days and still no answers. Nowhere in the brochure or in the travel agents did it say the hotel was all geared towards Italians/Spanish people quite a lot through the holiday we felt overlooked due to us being English.
The kids club my 4 yr old daughter went to it one day and the rep could hardly speak English and seemed not interested because she was the only child, and she never danced the whole 30 mins the kids disco lasted, they refused to give here a balloon, which is disgusting.
The food was often cold even when it opened as we went in straight away, the food was all for the Italian or Spanish, it was fish, grilled fish, or fish there were know kids choices, my daughter lived on biscuits and chocolate spread for here tea, we had to go out and buy food to make sure she ate.
We had glass on the floor in the room for 3 days, even though the rooms were cleaned daily, not. The bar staff were not helpful at all unless you were all inclusive. The list would go on, dont book this hotel it is a not worth a 1 star and need looking at

Sep 2006, Mrs M White

Do not go to this hotel if you are after a peaceful relaxing holiday, with children under 10!
My husband, myself and my 6 year old son stopped here for 7 nights and it was the longest week of our lives! Most nights we didn’t get to sleep until 2am due to rowdy/noisy people going back to their rooms. The room said it slept 3, but 3 single beds pushed into a 12ft room with little room to walk round is not my idea of fun.
The hotel run kids club, mainly catered for the Italians /Spanish of which the hotel mainly catered for. The food was at best warm, with no kids selection.
