Hotel Excelsior le Terrazze

My Husband and I Have just returned from a week at the Hotel Excelsior and have had a wonderful time, I looked at the reviews from some of the other people and do wonder if we stayed at the same Hotel why do people go there and expect it to be the same as home When in Rome !!! etc. The Staff were pleasant and helpful the Hotel was very clean and nothing was too much trouble. As usual I read other reviews and then panicked about what I had booked. As a single traveller used to paying extortionate supplements for a broomcupboard, glad to say I had no need to worry at all. Got back yesterday and just have to set the record straight ! We booked a one week holiday with Crystal Holidays in Hotel Excelsior, paying extra for a balcony . It was the most disappointing experience of my life. The hotel is nice from the outside but dont be fooled! It is much more comparable to a run down youth hostel, than a three star hotel The bedroon is adorned with two red metal framed beds upn a tile floor. We have just returned from our 4th Stay at the Hotel Excelsior. As usual all of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The new terrace they added to the existing one is great and obviously the views over the lake are as magnificent as ever. However one disappointment was the quality of the food this time, we didn't think it was up to it's usual standard. But thank you Terrazze for another wonderful holiday

As another reviewer has said, Crystal/Thomson do not seem to have lake view rooms so you need to pay extra for those and a balcony. Our room was only marginally bigger than the wardrobe in it and there was no air conditioning which would have been useful on the hotter days. Staff very polite and friendly. No garden area of any size so limited choices for sitting out around the hotel and the hotel beach area was very disappointing. That said our stay here was pleasant.

The Excelsior is a nice Hotel with mainly lovely staff Good points were the pretty pool area and the lovely terrace seating plus its nearness to Town ( 5 min walk ) also the staff were very nice indeed Bad points are that the traffic noise gets boring after a week or so as its almost continuous and although the dinners were quite nice the breakfast was Basic Continental plus the only hot alternative was scrambled eggs and undercooked Italian bacon FOR THE WHOLE OF OUR TWO WEEK HOLIDAY !! This is an average three star holiday hotel. The rooms and hotel were very clean. The bedrooms were fairly spartan but had all the usuals. The food was just about average. The hotel is well situated just on the edge of Garda (5 minutes to the centre) so is a lot quieter than those in the town or harbour front. Thoroughly enjoyed a week at the Hotel Excelsior - especially breakfast on the terrace. The hotel is very comfortable and well located for the ferry (5 mins). It has wonderful views of the lake and is surrounded by beautiful old trees. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. All-in-all a great holiday with only one minor niggle - there is traffic noise from the road below the hotel.

We stayed at the Excellsior Hotel in August 2005 and found our two week stay there to be a fantastic experience. The area of Garda is a beautiful place but our stay was made even more beautiful by the friendly atmosphere at the Excellsior Hotel. The staff were so friendly and helpful.
