San Antonio Suites

The first thing you face when you enter the hotel (on your way to your room) is the infinity blue of the sea........( i have no words to describe the view)..the location is not far away from Fyra and Oia and the best thing to do is rent a car otherwise there is a bus station in front of the hotel. My husband and I had booked a standard Katikies Hotel room for 3 nights of our honeymoon. When we arrived at Katikies we were blown away by the beauty of this hotel and the service was beyond incredible BUT when we saw our room we were highly dissappointed. With two months before my wedding, I decided to take my mum and myself on a little girlie break to Santorini. I had booked Sun Rocks as it looked great and relaxing. We were met at the airport by the manager of Sun Rocks who was very apologetic, however had double booked our room. She explained that she had managed to get us the master suite at San Antonio suites, but would only charge us the same as we had booked. Although we had booked at the Cosmopolitan Suites in Fira, the hotel had overbooked - appears to be a common problem in Santorini. So they sent us to San Antonio and boy we were happy. The rooms were spacious and beautiful - the breakfast was simply AMAZING. It is a bit out of the way but the hotel makes renting a car or getting a taxi very easy. do you work in hotels, do you know when your hotel is fully booked, and should learn where to stop booking. that's what San Antonio didn' t learn. Ok...so we rolled the dice on SAS and won. When I booked the hotel, I knew that they were a new hotel. Knowing this made me a little hesitant for booking our honeymoon, but nonetheless, we tried it anyways. The entrie staff made our stay a pleasant and enjoyable experience. From booking our 2 hour boat ride in the Caldera to the hot springs, to our meal in the small restaurant at the hotel, to the excellent room service throughout the day, they made our stay memorable. Words can't describe...I'll only say if you are between choosing hotels for your trip to Santorini, choose San Antonio Suites. We were so lucky to stay at this hotel, because it gave us the opportunity to do everything we wanted to do in Santorini, but also have such incredible privacy and solitude. There are no other hotels, nightclubs, noise, people walking through your hotel or deck to get to another place as they do in Fira or Oia. We wanted to be sure to write a review, because when we booked with the San Antonio there weren't any (we learned bc it opened 2 wks before our stay). This is an amazing hotel - quiet, impeccably decorated, well staffed and with an idyllic view. We were concerned about the location as it's near Imergolivi but not in Oia or Thira like most of the other hotels we'd had recommended to us. The hotel was recently opened in mid 2009. We stayed there on our honeymoon. Our junior suite had no separation between the bathroom and bedroom--it was essentially one large room offering absolutely no privacy. In addition, there was no shower curtain, causing water to splash across the remainder of the bathroom. The location of the hotel is poor--it is located between the two main cities of Oia and Fira, requiring one to rent a car. We were re-routed here from a different hotel for a portion of our stay on Santorini and could not have been more blessed. The service, the view, the accommodations, the food; everything was superlative.
