Doubletree by Hilton Resort Kos - Helona

A beautiful hotel still having teething troubles but will get there. We had a deluxe room with sea view but could not use the swimming pool below our rooms, asked for move to room with pool it only cost an extra 20 euros per day and was well worth it, be sure to specify exactly what you want before booking ! Most of the staff are eastern european and are very friendly but add to the lack of greek atmosphere, you could be anywhere. We don't usually do hotel based holidays, normally preferring to arrange our own travel, accomodation etc. However on this occasion we decided to have a lazy break and went for the Helona Resort based on the brochures, resort web site and the fact that it had a 5 star rating. The Helona resort was beautiful. We arrived during the early hours of the morning and we’re greeted by a very friendly Receptionist. Check in went in very smoothly and we were taken to our room in a golf buggy. The resort has many pools and we would recommend when booking this hotel that you request a room with a ‘sharing pool.’ This will allow you to have a pool shared with two other rooms. Spent one great week at the Helona Resort in Sep 09. The layout and decor is really nice, with water everywhere. The room was really spacious and nice, had a nice terrace with sun-loungers and chairs. There are 2 main communal pools and lots of other private/shared pools and decorative pools. I have one of the weirdest experience in Kos Island.. As I was visiting the island with some friends, I chose a new hotel in Kos which honestly is very beautiful. The most weird thing during my stay was that I had an offer from one of the front line staff to spend a night with her in my room by paying her extra which for me was unacceptable!! The hotel is new and nice, with own sandy beach. 3 things I didn't like: 1. The restaurant service! There were mornings when we couldn't get a cofee. 2. Beeing close to the airport is quite noisy especially in the morning. 3. There are only 2 restaurants and for lunch only one is opened so it can be crowdy. Overall, is a very good hotel.

I booked this hotel before its official opening in June so there were no reviews. We needn't have worried, it's a beautiful hotel with no ongoing building work on a great beach. There were a few hitches with staff and service, our room didn't have any towels at all on three days running but ten minutes after a call to Reception they were brought to our room. Just spent a week at the Helona beach resort, fantastic new hotel on it's own beach. We were the first to sleep in our room and it had everything you could possibly need to be comfortable. The receptionist were very accomodating and nothing was to much trouble for them however the same could not be said for the resturant staff we managed to go through 3 dinners without being asked for a drink! and as there is no way you could help yourself you were at the mercy of the staff. New hotel in Kos, it is probably one of the nicest. Hotel infrastructure is very well made and beautiful, with its 19 chromotherapy pools and private pools, even if I am not a big pool fan, it was truly amazing. Our initial criteria were nice and elegant hotel with a nice beach/sea. This place perfectly met this requirement. hotel was great and people kindly, nice. i think that this hotel is too high 5* +
