Hotel Villa La Tour

We stayed at the Villa La Tour for a week in July 2006 and were very happy with our choice of hotel. It had a nice French feel and Barabara (the manageress) and the staff were very polite, friendly and helpful at all times. We stayed in two different rooms during our stay- room 102 and 316. A group (14 girls) stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, 3 days during the 1st week of July 06. First of all, the manager (lovely woman) couldn't have been more helpful with us, we arrived early and she still checked the majority of us in (2 rooms weren't ready). One night we got so drunk we forget the code to get back in (after 1am the main door is locked) we woked her up yet she was still happy. Instead of a triple I booked a double (79E) and a single(49E). The double was fine with a good bath but the single was a bit below my standards ( then again 49E!!!) A continental Breakfast was included too! Barbara Kimming, the proprietress is a lovely,.warm and interesting person. She let me know I should get the mini-suite next time. We liked the Vila La Tour for the proximity to the old Nice and think that overall this hotel offers good value for the money. Our room was very cozy and tastefully decorated, but super small, it was hard to take a shower! Another downside: the hotel doesn't have an elevator, not handy if you need to carry heavy luggage to the third floor. However, to enjoy the French riviera this hotel is not the ideal choice; there are plenty of 2 and 3 star hotels along the coast, closer to the beach and decently priced, particularly in cap ferrat or cap... more

Stayed at this hotel from 6 May to 10 May 2006 for 4 nights. Hotel is in ideal location in Old Nice with the 'bus station just over the road,get no.98 bus from airport. We did two great trips by 'bus to Menton & Antibes,both thoroughly recommended,forget Monte Carlo! Fares were cheap,1 Euro 30 per person. The hotel is great value for money, I agree with other reviews that rooms are small, but they are clean and adequate with lots of hot water and fresh towels daily plus air con. Stayed here for a week in the peak summer season of last year (middle august). Absolutely fantastic little place, great location in the old town, very convenient to get around Nice as well as a starting point to other cities on the coast. the taxi to/from airport should set you back around 15E, or you can catch a bus that stops, in a street 5min from the hotel. The staff in this hotel couldn't be friendlier and more helpful and the location in the old town was perfect. The rooms themselves are small but very clean, tidy and well presented, and the bed is very comfy!!!!! To get here from the airport though don't get a taxi (35euros) jump the no98 bus from right outside arrivals door, it only costs 4euros each and the final stop in the bus station is 100m from the hotel door. My wife and I were looking forward to a pleasant stay in a quaint hotel in Vieux Nice. We were disappointed. Granted, we booked the small room...but it is one room with a bed and a shower and there was barely enough room to fit our 2 small suitcases. The toilet was (literally) located in the shower. Carrying our bags up four flights of narrow stairs to the room was unexpected. To our surprise, we woke up to find innumerable black bugs throughout the room. On my recent trip to Nice I stayed at the Villa la Tour for a bargain price compare to the everage costs of the city. Since about a year the hotel is under a new management and things changed very positivly. The rooms were in good shape and tastfully re-decorated, small but comfy. The staff was very helpful, friendly and informed about anything happening in the city. It´s a nice cosy place to stay and to discover the old part of Nice. My wife and I are just back from our vacation in the south of France and while being in NIce we stayed in this lovely Hotel for 4 nights. We loved the place and the warm and human welcoming . We did apreciate the location too, very close to the heart of the city and alowing the tourists that we were to visit on foot both the Old town and the new part of it.
