Hotel Saint-Georges

We booked this hotel from the flyglobespan website. I have to say it was an amazing week. The South of France was just out of this world and the Hotel Sainte-Georges is the perfect base to explore it from. The staff were VERY friendly, always greeting when you passed and were in general very helpful, English is spoken if you don't speak French. My husband and I had a long weekend in Nice in September and booked the St. Georges based on some of the other reviews. We do have mixed feelings about it though. The hotel does have a great location but our room was mediocre. We didn't get any of the lovely balconies that some of the other travellers got. Our room was very dark and quite basic, despite it not being the cheapest we'd seen in our search for hotels. However, it was clean and the breakfast was nice. Well, this was definitely the worst hotel on our vacation. We stayed here for 3 nights in Sept. 2006. We stayed in a double room overlooking the garden courtyard. The room was very dated, the linens were more than overused. The blankets were so old they were almost paper thin. The sheets seemed clean but the rest of the room made me wonder. An excellent find and frequented by the French too, which is always a good sign of quality. Excellent breakfast and friendly, helpful staff. We'd go again. It is well placed, tho a bit far if you want to go to the beach everyday - it's more for those who want to explore all aspects of Nice.

We stayed three nights in Hotel Saint Georges, and were extremely happy with the experience. It is medium priced hotel which suited our budget perfectly, and we believe you are getting value for money. The hotel was very easy to find and is in an ideal, central location. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station and a 5 minute walk from the beach. The rooms, whilst they were not the most extravagant, were clean and very comfortable, and even had a nice view. Stayed at this hotel for six nights - very good value. Although the decor is a little tired the overall service was very good. Rooms / linen / towels changed every day. Bathroom and bedroom clean. Breakfast was excellent - far too much to eat (continental style). This is a budget hotel and as such is fine ... would stay there again and use the money saved to eat at the hundreds of great placesin Nice. We found the staff to be efficient and friendly enough ... no problems!

No problems for us. All staff very friendly and helpful - recommending where to eat and showing us where to go for station, sights etc. Breakfast was good - typical continental. Room was comfortable and clean. The hotel was very busy but that did not cause us any problems. Lovely quiet location for a central location. Would recommend and use again.

I recently stayed at the St George Hotel in Nice with 4 friends. We booked this hotel because Flyglobespan, whom we booked through, described it on their website as "A discrete and charming hotel". But there was absolutely nothing charming about this place. On arrival we were met by a very arrogant man at check-in who made it perfectly obviously he did not want to be there -nor us either. We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights the first part of Oct. 2004. For the price this is a very nice hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff helpful. The rooms vary in size as my friend had a much larger room then I had. No street noise and the location was nice. Just a 5 minute walk to the train station which was great for side trips. Also the hotel is surrounded by all you need...an internet place, pharmacy, cafes, bars, even a McDonalds if you can't live without it. The walk to the water took about 10 minutes. The hotel was clean, towels and beds were changed every day. The management were friendly and helpful, as were all the staff. Breakfast was good enough but tended to become boring after two weeks... croissants, yogurt, coffee or tea, and orange juice. The locality of the hotel was quite good, reasonable distance from beach and main shopping areas. Of course there was no pool, which we knew, but we really missed one.
