Catalonia Mirador Des Port Hotel

Quite a nice hotel - very friendly staff.
The breakfasts are nice - get there after 8:15am so that the chef is there to prepare hot stuff. The coffee in the restaurant is not very good but if you ask for a "cafe con leche" it’ll cost you about 1.5 euro - and tastes great.
You can get a buffet dinner in the hotel - pretty good at only 14 euros. Again, keep an eye out for the chef - he cooks local fish on demand.
The double rooms are nice. I made the mistake of booking a single and they put me in what can only be described as a 'cupboard'. When I mentioned this to them, they were really helpful and moved me into a nice twin room.
The pool is not heated but the gardens are quite nice.
The location is good and you can either walk down to the harbour front - about 5 minutes or go the other way and into the town.
Mahon is very quiet (even in August). Ideal for couples aged 30 plus. You're ok with kids at this hotel but you’d need to rent a car to go to the beaches regularly. There’s a good, cheap bus service to most main beaches. The bus station is about 10 minutes walk for the hotel.
Another plus is that the hotel is only about 10 mins (or 10 euros) in a cab from the airport.
Overall, a pretty good experience.
