Columbia Beach Hotel

Having read rave reviews, looked forward to stayiny at columbia beach hotel. Room was very average and in fact dont accept room 216 as next to lift, long thin balcony and ackward room as long and thin.My wife and I couldnt pass at end of bed as too narrow, also no view from room.You couldnt swing a cat round in the bathroom! however it was all very clean and comfortable. We stayed at this hotel for 10 days and high standard of service was maintained throughout. The room was clean and cool, with plenty of wardrobe/cupboard space; and communal facilities were excellent - the gym had a good range of modern equipment; didn't try the spa, but it looked nice. Loved the bar in the pool and whiled away several afternoons with an ice cold frapuccino, lounging poolside. A lovely touch was the freezer cold flannels brought round at midday. We spent our fourth holiday at the Columbia, as usual we really enjoyed our stay...the food was excellent as ever and the staff were very friendly. The Eastern European waiters and waitresses that have been referred to in other reviews are actually very efficient and friendly, the only problems we had were with the more senior waiters who seemed very disorganised. Having just returned after our 3rd visit to this hotel we thought we should share our experience in this wonderful hotel. To start with the hotel is in a beautiful position and offers all facilities needed for an enjoyable stay. My husband and I stayed at the Columbia Beach Hotel June/July 07 for 2 weeks (dont get confused with the 5* Columbia Resort next door). We absolutely loved the hotel. Very clean, rooms bright and modern and the staff were great. Only stayed on a B&B basis but there was everything you could wish for at breakfast. I can only repeat what fellow guest have said on this site- This is a truely wonderful hotel. I'm puzzled why it's listed on Trip Advisor under Limmasol (20 minutes drive away) and not Pissouri, and also why there are not seperate entries for the hotel and resort...anyway We stayed in the Columbia 4* hotel (not the resort 5*) during July 2007. We have just come back from staying at the Columbia Beach Hotel (not resort) and have come away feeling slightly disappointed. The hotel itself is beautiful and most of the staff seemed very nice. However we came back on the Wednesday after a wonderful evening of entertainment at 'Cyprus Night' in Pissouri village and decided we'd round the night off by having a cocktail and looking up to sea. At Pissouri beach there is the Columbia Beach Hotel and the Columbia Beach Resort. The hotel was built in the 70's and re furbished in 2004. The resort was built about 2002. We stayed at the hotel over the New Year period and were very impressed. The hotel is at the end of a small street so there is no passing traffic. The building is side on to the beach; so many more of the rooms have a sea view than would be normal. There are four floors, and as usual the higher you go, the better the view. My Girlfriend and I visited the Columbia beach Hotel for a week holiday at the end of June this year. It was my first visit to Cyprus so I had no idea what to expect. I was completely astonished with how fantastic this hotel was. Firstly let me be clear that we stayed at the Columbia Beach “Hotel” and NOT the Columbia Beach “Resort” which is next door. Stayed for 1 week at the end of September 2005. This newly refurbished hotel exceeded our expectations, with excellent food and accomodation, and helpful friendly staff. It was also spotlessly clean. The hotel is built end-on to the sea, so rooms face each way along the beach with even numbered ones on the higher of the 4 floors having the best views as they face west.
