Berkeley Hotel

My partner and I stayed here in August 2008. The hotel is lovely, rooms are clean and spacious and all have a kitchen and eating area. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. Location was excellent, located in a lovely harbour and only 5 minutes by bus to the old town and the Pile Gate (1 minute walk to bus stop and busses come every 5-10 mins). What a fantastic Hotel - it has a three star ranking but should be a five star hotel. The service, the cleanliness and the quanlity of finishings in the hotel are excellent. The breakfast was what we expect i.e. full American breakfast and more! Katarina was very helpful with any questions we asked e.g. buses, hire of car and all other needs to help a weary traveller. I have referred the Berkeley Hotel to all my friends and family and look forward to going back to Croatia in the near future.

After travelling by bus into Dubrovnik, our group of four walked the 10 minutes from the Port to the Hotel Berkely. On our arrival, we were greeted with open arms. From the moment we arrived, the owner/manager Nik, his daughter Katrina and the rest of the staff took us in and ensured we had a great time in Dubrovnik. They acted as tour advisors, drivers and historians. We stayed at the Berkeley for four nights in July and had a very pleasant experience. The customer service was exceptional and the hotel itself was chic and comfortable. Our only quibble with it was the location, and whether or not this issue would be a problem for you depends on the kind of traveler you are. We typically like to stay in a relatively central location, so we can go out to do our sightseeing all morning and afternoon and then walk back to the hotel in the early evening to rest up and clean up a bit before going back out to get... more

Stayed at the Berkeley for four nights in July of 2008. It's a wonderful little hotel located a little ways from the historic Old Town. My room was perfect, the studio on the first floor was very spacious and clean. A/C worked perfectly which is a big plus considering the summer temperatures. Having a large balcony extending from your room was great for unwinding in the evenings. What better way to cool off than to have a beer as the sun is setting on the balcony. This hotel is fantasic, when we arrived in Dubrovnik we called the hotel for directions and the girl was great. The welcome was nice and the room was very pleasant, a lot nicer than on the hotel website. The location is no problem as it is about 5 mins away from the bus stop which goes into the old town. The bus to the old town takes 10-15 mins. I also felt this location gave us the chance to discover the new port area which is nice, but obviously not as nice as the old town. Family run business offering really first class accommodation at reasonable prices. Hotel was built last year and clearly a lot of thought has gone into the design and fittings. We have never slept so well in a hotel – fantastic soundproofing! Everything immaculately clean, contemporary and really comfortable bedding. Family very generous with their time - Nothing was too much trouble. Yes the bus trip into town is a bit of a pain and the Croatians don't queue like us Brits but the buses are very regular and drop you within 25 meters... more

Dave and Sandy Roberts stayed here for 10 nights between end of June and 9th July booking the hotel after having read the reviews. We were not disappointed at all. The family run hotel is so friendly, starting at breakfast time with a hearty feast that sets you up for for the rest of the day. Nothing is too much trouble for the entire family who take turns to look after you and there is always a smile to be had. We stayed at the Berkeley for 6 nights at the end of June 2008. It was a wonderful experience. The hotel has a terrific location - supermarket close at hand (we had a one bedroom apt with kitchen), right at the ferry terminal, near the bus terminal, away from the crowds of downtown. It's only a 10 minute bus ride from the old town and the bus stop is less than 5 minutes away on foot. Breakfasts were great. We stayed in Dubrovnik on holiday 4 years ago and returned this year to attend a wedding. We previously stayed on the Lapad peninsula and saw all the hotels in that area, and they are not great. Basically if you are not going to spend the money for a five star hotel then this is the best hotel in town bar none. It is impeccably clean, everything works as it should and the staff are friendly. There is no beach nearby but the old town is only five minutes away by bus. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else if I am ever in Dubrovnik again.
