Solymar Beach Cancun Hotel

The prices are pretty reasonable for this hotel but there is a reason. The room was not as bad as I thought it would be, but there is no carpet on the floor. It is tiled. The biggest problem I had on site was that the maid would come in the morning and take the used towels. I would come back from the morning walk, hot and sweaty, ready to shower and there would be no towels. One day I found the maid and asked for some. She said "mas tarde" (later). Stayed at the hotel solymar one week. They do not allow friends or guests in rooms. only in the lobby. my money was stolen from the housekeeping and when i went to the manager i was told that it wasnt possible and they couldnt help me. many rules. rooms not very nice. would not recommend staying here. the pools are nice though.

I recently went to Cancun in July of 2003 , and stayed at the Solymar with my boyfriend. We were promised a condo , and when we got there were put in a 1 room dungeon. There was a hole in the wall covered by cardboard , and bugs all over the counters. People we talked to at the pool were equally unhappy. One man even woke up with termites in his bed! Staying at this resort was like staying at Motel 6. Everything is run down and dirty. The only good thing is beach and that has nothing to do with the hotel. For the amount of money that we payed we could of stayed somewhere decent. You are warned, don't waste your money on this place.

My wife and I just completed two weeks at the Solymar Beach Resort, and had a great time. This is off-season down in Cancun; the weather was hot and getting almost to the "too humid" point. Solymar we loved the hotel so much we are going to go back! With the entire family!!! Last Christmas we spent a week in Cancun at the Solymar. This hotel is in comparison to a Best Western or LaQuinta Inn. The food was great (buffet style) the beach was the most beautiful out of all of the beach front hotels. My sister and I spent a week (July 24-July31) at the Solymar. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our studio faced the ocean and was equipped with everything we needed to be comfortable. This was not my first time in Cancun, and I have stayed at posher resorts, but I enjoyed myself at the Solymar. We contacted a travel agent in February and told them we had $2000 for a family of 4 to take a vacation. Get us somewhere warm. Anywhere. They booked us at the Solymar in Cancun, all inclusive, which was great considering we had two boys with us, ages 15 and 13. We've never been to Cancun nor taken the boys out of the country. I have just returned from a great vacation in Cancun. I stayed at the Solymar Beach Resort. I was celebrating my 50th birthday so I invited some old ( smile ) college freinds down to join me. The accomodations were just right for the price. We were fortunate to get an upgrade, so for the price of a studio we were abe to share a three bedroom condo with sweeping views of the Ocean. Went to Cancun for Memorial Weekend 2003. My boyfriend and I (both in our thirties) had a blast. Our hotel was nice and inexpensive. We did the all inclusive and the food turned out great. Best breakfast buffet and the rest of the time we sampled the menu from steak to seafood and pasta. Very tasty. The staff was great. This hotel is down a ways from the nightlife but the bus system is easy and cheap. Our hotel did not have the normal things such as hair dryer, clock, iron, remote control.
