we stayed here for a week, all inclusive. food was average, usual buffet style, but drinks and snacks ok. you will need some DEET for the mozzies in the evenings, the whole resort is built on a swamp. Biggest pain in the butt though....loud american 'jocks' who, although... more

My goal: To get to and stay in Cancun during spring break (March 13-20) for as cheap as possible without sacrificing safety or fun. I have to say it happened and it was a success. There is no reason to spend 800-1300 to stay at one of the posh places in cancun for spring... more

Ok first off - "if you want the worst vacation then go here". Cheap booze, watered down mixed drinks. Food is horrible; I seriously wouldn’t feed my dog that stuff. Mould in the room, blood on bed sheets. No first aid kit as my buddy fell and cut his leg. Leakage in our... more

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, it was dirty and smelt really bad. The food was awful, rooms were damp, had torn towels and in our room plug sockets hanging off the walls. Beach was dirty, there were cigarette stubs in the pool and no sunbeds. We only lasted... more

Cancun is totally geared towards tourists and so you don't get any real feel of what Mexico is like. If you like to stay around your hotel and the beach all holiday, Cancun is perfect! However there are several excursions that can be done from Cancun, the main one being... more

Sorry folks but unfortunately this is a bad review. I was looking forward to spending 2 weeks at this hotel and I was sorely disappointed, it was not a good experience. Before I rant and rave, I do have to say that the rooms were clean although they are very basic, however... more

Had a great time at this hotel when I stayed there for 2 weeks. Its in a prime spot on the white sandy beach and there is security on so you don’t get people hassling you when you try to relax etc. It was great. The hotel itself is not the poshest I have been to but it is... more

Spent 2 weeks here and no way would I go back. I never got a cheap package deal when I booked and it cost me a fortune to take my children. If there had been no nice weather my holiday would have been a nightmare as the hotel is a joke. The maids can’t be trusted, the... more

If you are a picky person you cannot stay here. I took 5 children over there and had 2 rooms and none of them were exactly good even though the holiday cost me over £4000. I would never stay there again and I wouldn't recommend it to people who can get a better hotel for... more

We went to Mexico expecting it to be paradise. When we got there it was hot and sunny, which was good. Passed all the nice hotels, got to ours pretty basic which was fine. As soon as we stepped out the smell hit us. It smelled like rotting fish. I understand that it was... more

Do not go! This was the worst holiday we have ever had. I think Thomas Cook should stay in these hotels before they send customers there. We arrived and were put in a room above reception that was not fit for animals, let alone humans. We were supposed to have a ground... more

Loved the Imperial Las Perlas
Stayed there all last week - it was wonderful! Very reasonable and nice hotel - safe, clean, not too loud or too quiet. Service was good - they provide fridge, plates, silverware (cutlery) and pots and pans that they wash them for you every day. TV had American CNN and HBO as well as a few Spanish-speaking Cancun channels. Only downsides for fussy pampered Americans were no elevators, room was clean but not perfect, old A/C unit was a bit noisy but worked well. Restaurant on the water opposite hotel had the best food (buffet) of a dozen I... more
Fun and made the best of it
Just got back from there. For the price we paid, I had a great time. We made the best of it. Housekeeping was late the first 2 days, but after that, they were excellent. Didn't expect a kitchenette in the room which was handy. Stayed at worse places in the US for prices of $100.00 a night. Some of them popular hotel chains. Loved the bartender, Eusebio. Jokingly offered to pack him in our suitcases. The staff tried their hardest to keep us content for the tiny pay they make. One staff said they get paid less than $80.00 a week. So I have to... more
Imperial Las Perlas-Good deal for the price!
We chose this hotel through the internet as a package with our flight. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how nice our stay was. The hotel isn't the fancy, overpriced hotels of the zone. It has a charm all its own. The staff was all polite and helpful; the meals were the best buffet of all the places we ate. If you are looking for a good deal and a quiet stay, I'd suggest after the spring break time-frame. We had no problems with the noise that I read about in other reviews once we got back. The beach is clean and combed every day,... more
avoid this place
The noise was unbearable - nobody wanted to hear the rap music playing on the beach, by hotel staff, and the manager was very rude and told me he didn't care. The food is the same garbage every day - so don't plan on all your meals there.
Stay Here, but use the Public Beach!
My friend and I went to Cancun to have fun for a cheap price...and that is exactly what we got...everything is what you make of it. If you are looking for an amazing resort, you won't find it here. The beach is clean and the staff are very happy to help you with anything. (We had no problem with the front desk staff.) The food is horrible....the last few days we went into town to a grocery store and bought cream cheese to have on toast.... We usually waited until 7-8 p.m. to eat, so that by then we were starving and would be able to stomach... more
Thanks Gorge! Loved it!
Prior to traveling to Cancun, I read reviews of the hotel on this website so I wanted to leave my own opinion. First of all, I found a great deal on Imperial Las Perlas on Expedia.com for $44 USD per night which is equivalent to what you will pay at a budget American motel so I was somewhat apprehensive, especially after reading previous reviews. My visit was from May 1- May 6, 5 nights and was fantastic. I arrived from the airport at approximately 6pm. The bell-boy carried my bags into the lobby so I tipped him $1. The concierge... more
hotel or hostel?
following a long flight and wanting to freshen up. felt more dirty after the shower in this hotel?. who owns it? What a great location a real gem. But give it a face lift please.
Time of my life
I must say that staying at the Imperial Las Perlas was by far the best time of my life...I went down to Cancun for a cheap vacation..sun..sports..and lots of partying..the people there were overly helpful..the event coordinaters Taz and Ricco were sooooo much fun!! And all the people I met there I miss terribly..Yes the food is not to be desired..but why eat there are far too many other things to be doing..all in all greats times and I will be back in November.
Better Than We Expected!!!
After reading the several horrible reviews of the Imperial Las Perlas we were scared to see what it was actually like, but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The beach was nice, the staff was very friendly, and the drinks were great. The only down sides were that the rooms were a bit run-down, the t.v. only got about 2 channels, and the food was pretty much the same thing at every meal. It is definately not an immaculate 5 star hotel, but it was a fun, enjoyable and awesome trip at a good price. I recommend it for younger... more
Like Most Hotels It Had Its Good And Bad Points
For a ** (Airtours Rating) hotel it was far better than some. The best was the position, away from the amercanised expensive crap of Cancun, i really thought to be in Florida not Mexico. The beach was well maintained and the staff did their best to keep it clean and looking nice, although my enjoyment of the beach was non due to the loud loud music ( mostly rap) the so called entertainers insisted on playing, i found it hard to relax. I felt like to be in disco in New York! Hence we stayed away from the Hotel most of the time. The staff were... more
