San Miguel Hotel Club Reviews
" brilliant family holiday "
Submitted By: Clowesy7We usually look at the reviews before booking our hoilday and thought some people do just wanna moan for the sake of it so i'm putting my review on here as it was a brilliant hoilday. We where really particular where we went this year as we have a four year old and a nine month old at the time, so we wanted a family holiday that was both good for kids and adults.
First impression when we arrived where that the room was a bit small, but we didn't expect the room to be cleaned everyday but it was, the pool was was cleaned everyday as well! weston salon bar were quick and execellent with the drinks especially slippery nipples lol jose and tito were fantasic
Food at the hotel was different everyday and the chinese was really nice but you gotta book early for that, you could get 4 drinks a time at the 3 bars available which was brilliant.
Kids club was execellant as they could attend several times a day which gave you some alone time to do the various activities available, footy vollyball etc
Megaday in the pool on a monday was really good as you got to show the reps who were boss lol, in general this holiday was brilliant and i wouldnt think twice about booking again for net year
Advice: entertainment was great
Activities: hotel
Good for: Beach
" never done this before! "
Submitted By: bowersFANTASTIC THATS WHY!
i always read these and think there must be moaning people who dont enjoy themselves.
this goes to show.
dont get me wrong i could have moaned about a few bits but the good bits undid them all.
bad bits.
first impressions didnt go down to well. felt a bit clostrophobic. people were getting up at 6am to reserve their loungers! how ignorant is that? its not the fault of thompsons or the hotel.
we didnt struggle to find one all week so why bother?
flies around did my head in.
weather was poor the last three days.
if thats all iv got to winge about then why blame the hotel.
there is not much to do outside the hotel. be warned.
we struggled to hire a car. taxis are expensive.
good bits.
food was fantastic. the chineese was one of the best iv ever had. the mexican snack bar was good and we eat in the beach club most of the time. couldnt fault it and we enjoyed it! my son lived on pasta for the whole week!!!
the staff in the resteraunts were lovely, the bar staff were friendly and attentive, especially in the western saloon.
the entertainment was first class, (not the thompson run one which was like any other!)
i have never laughed so much for years in the mr san miguel! the belgum entertainer was so funny!
the acrobats were unbelievable and if you had paid to see the entertainment you wouldnd have complained.
the beach is lovely and the sea so warm. fish take bread out of your hand.
the rooms are basic, but do you come on holiday to stay in your room? i dont!
nothing was any problem for the hotel staff, they were friendly but didnt speak much english! if they could help you they would.
there is always things to do for the kids. kids club is all day long! the pools are different and will suit everone.
its a kids hotel for families. dont go if you are a couple or no patience with kids or you wont like it! in my stay the kids were good and i encoutered no problems.
the external prices to use the games pool etc are fair and not over charged.
many people i spoke to have returned for many years.
the people staying were down to earth and friendly. i felt a t home.me.. id go back tomorrow.
thanks beach club. i had a ball!!
Advice: lovely place for a family holiday!
Activities: the sea is like having a bath!
Good for: Beach

" excellent time "
Submitted By: yewdellsThe food was good and in a few previous reviews we had read that there wasn't much choice of food. This wasn't the case as there was something for everyone. There was a lot of variety and we even had something to eat in every restaurant on one day.
The bar staff were very friendly (apart from the bar man in the Tapa bar! and need a medal for the hours they work, they even remembered what we drank each time we went to the bar. The chines restaurant was ok but you have to book and the men stays more or less the same but you can always come out of there and then go int he main restaurant for a pudding!
If you want a sunbed by the pool in your favourite spot then you need to get down early to put your towel on the beds and to reserve a brolly, but if you did choose to come down later there were plenty of beds left but you just might not get the prime spot that you wish.
The only thing we were a bit worried about was the glass lift which did break down a couple of times (we didn't see this though), but it wasn't far to walk to the next level - so not worth moaning about.
The beach is very clean and the sea lovely. The canoes were free if you were all inclusive, but the sun loungers were obviously not free and unfortunately towards the end of our stay they put the prices up (which didn't affect us anyway)
There isn't much outside of the complex apart from a couple of shops whose staff watched you like a hawk and made you feel like you were a shoplifter, but again this was no big deal.
I would recommend this to all, and hopefully we will return at some point soon.
Advice: good for families with all age children
Activities: main restaurant in the hotel
Good for: Beach
" Great all inclusive family holiday "
Submitted By: lodgerobinThe hotel was very clean, the food was a reasonably good choice for all inclusive (you could always find something to eat).
The entertainment was good for families.
There is a really good irish bar just over the road from the hotel (good music).
The staff we found to all be very helpful especially at reception and the bar staff.
We would return again maybe again this year.
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: Mrs F CosseyEvery year we enjoy it and don't understand how people find it boring. The evening entertainment is fantastic, also in the day you could never be bored, from playing games, sport and also shooting/archary to win t-shirts, wine, towels and more.
The hotel resturant is definatly better than the beach club one. One main thing that brings me back every year are the entertainers, Ollie, Zorro, Eva and Cris. Also this year the thompson entertainers were brilliant. The beach is beautiful and very select. With a few improvments this hotel could easily be a 4*.

look out for boogie night tursday night Zorro, chris and olli dances on the roof with fire and its graet fun as every one gets involed for a night full of fun and dancing (and bollons)
" Just returned from San Miguel Hotel... "
Submitted By: Ms P FletcherWe had a fantastic holiday, the hotel staff where friendly and the entertaintment was great. The beach was beautiful. There was plenty for the children to do and they were not bored at all!
The food was good we had no complaints, and the drinks were great. ( especially in the coctail bar).
The only negative we found are the lifts, they are not very reliable to say the least!
Would recommend the sunset boat tour, which takes place from the jetty on Sundays it was fab.

Submitted By: Miss Amy HolmesFood was very nice. Entertainment was very good, Zoro was really funny too and all the other reps were really good to. Hotel was very clean but does need abit of a make over in some parts of it.
Entertainment during the day was also good. Beach was lovely.
The rooms were very basic but very clean.
The lifts were a big pain as they were only two in the whole hotel, and took ages for them get around.
Overall, this was a very good holiday and would love to go again.
" We have just returned from the hotel... "
Submitted By: Mr S HillSo negatives first: the staff were generally unfriendly and few spoke little English. The entire hotel is in desperate need of modernisation. Air conditioning in the rooms sounds like an aircraft taking off.
Lifts are a nightmare only 2 in the main hotel - both tiny and cramped, and 1 from the hotel to the lower 'entertainment' level which rarely worked anyway.
The food choice was limited and generally unappealing and very bland. The Chinese restaurant food was god-awful - it was uncooked and cold.
The resort is dead - we have always chosen quieter resorts but never found 1 as quiet as this. There are literally a couple of shops, bars and a small disco. Don’t even dream of getting a sun bed by the pool. As per usual all were pre-reserved with towels by 7.30 with plenty of people never turning up for them throughout the day.
Taxi's to anywhere on the island will set you back a small fortune. The complex and beach suffer a severe litter problem with fag ends and plastic cups everywhere. Avoid the hot dogs - I was given a hot dog bun that had an extra green life form growing on it - and they weren't impressed when i asked them to change it!
Now the positives: great view from the rooms - the San Miguel bay and beach are very pretty. All inclusive drinks had a great selection and were of a decent quality, plenty of entertainment through the day and evening. We had great weather. The seafood restaurant opposite the hotel is fantastic and reasonably priced - the t-bone steak melts in your mouth and is enough for 2 sharing!
Summary: resort is extremely quiet, hotel is more of a 2** and requires modernising, food is ok in the main restaurant but avoid the alternative snack bars. The island is expensive to get around - taxi's cost a fortune. But there is plenty to keep the kids happy.

Advice: excellent scenery and resort
Activities: main dining area and glass bottom boat trip
Good for: Beach
