First time we have been, 2 adults 2 kids 15 & 5. Thomson rep where great & the thomson & the hotel entertainers fantastic & really friendly. You can either chill round the pool all day or join in the little games in the day for kids & adults. Food ok judt im a fussy eater. Lifts a pain having to wait for them all the time. Was sick of the small plastic cups for the drinks but over all GREAT

Just spent two weeks at San Miguel, overall enjoyed it but a couple of things........
Good stuff
1. The hotel staff were brilliant, The hotel entertainment staff superb led by the brilliant Zorro.
2.Im a veggie but the food on the whole was quite good, The main restaurant had loads of veg and salad with pasta most nights so we eat ok. The mexican was the best for Veggies, not a great selection but the service was excellent and cooked in front of you.
3. Chinese again good, only 1 slot available tho in two weeks!
4. Location of the Hotel for kids could IMO not be bettered. You can drink and watch a show while also keeping and eye on the kids playing on the beach with their new friends or joining in with the reps. There is no better hotel Ive found as child friendly as this, no major roads, everything in one complex, made us feel our kids were safe all the time.
Err not so good
1. Rooms need a refit although they are super clean, fresh towels and bedding which I can't fault
2. The Thomson entertainment! OMG where do you start! One rep does the quiz and can't pronounce the words and also can't speak spanish!!! The hotel entertainment with Zorro and the team is the best and its a shame they can't book the singing acts as they were all bar the soul singer poor through the two weeks. Best night was the party night and not to be missed my 13 years old sons best night! And he has downloaded most of the songs to his ipod! My kids thought Lee from Thomson was pants!
3. Our 9 year old broke his tooth falling next to the pool. None of the Thompson reps are equiped/trained to deal with an accident. We tried for an hour to get a number for a local dentist from our "Knowledgable" reps. The number we finally got off them was useless. He was in pain so we just got a taxi to San Antonio to the local Hospital (£60 round trip). At no time did anyone from Thompson bother to see how he was. For a package deal you expect the reps to know what to do in a very minor accident. I think the reps at the hotel are just ex drama students with rep t-shirts and useless for anything else. The trips out are carried out by non-Thompson reps as well!
4. The lifts were a problem and I would book the Beach club at the base of the resort. We had a quiet room and had 2 weeks of good sleep.
Summary
For me the Hotel and Hotel Entertainment team made the holiday and we intend to book direct next year for a weeks break. You are wasting your time and money booking through Thomson believe me!

Hotel flights and transfers were excellent door to door service. First impressions, helpful receptionist although limited details about what was going on in the hotel, only an invitation to a welcome meeting the following day (this however left us time to explore the complex). Rooms were as expected, a television in the rooms there was an opportunity to buy a card for extra channels (approximately half a dozen). There is also a cost for the safe 40 euros for a fortnight with 5 euro deposit. Fridges also cost approximately 40 euros.
Room service was excellent, a door card from reception put in place stopped you from being disturbed and rooms were cleaned quickly if reversed.
A cot had been requested for one room this was not put in place but it was decided we would manage without, I am certain this would have been put in place quickly if requested.
In one of the rooms there was a small problem with cockroaches but apart from this we only witnessed two others in the complex during the fortnight.
There was sightings of lizards on a number of occasions, these are small creatures which would normally disappear quickly and were of fascination of the younger children.
There were problems with flies especially around the Western Saloon, these tended to be around areas where drinks had been spilled.
At the welcome meeting the representative moved on quite quickly when it was questioned about provison for under three's when we booked the holiday we were of the understanding that there would be creche type facilities, staff referred us back to our booking agents.
Apart from these issues the holiday on a whole was excellent.
Food was very good, massive selection each meal time. Breakfast included cereals, toast, bread etc a cooked breakfast, vegetarian options available as well as a children's section. Lunch and Dinner were similar excellent choices including fish, meat and vegetarian, other options steak, pizzas, burgers and a good selection of deserts. Drinks included wines, beer, soft drinks, tea and coffee.
Tuesday night was fish night with champagne(Salmon was amazing). The musical accompaniment was also greatly appreciated. The chinese restaurant was worth trying, only 45 minutes allowed but because of the small numbers this was ample time. We also tried Mexican which was good for snacks and took adventage of the snacks from the Western Saloon.
Drinks were plentiful, all spirits, cocktails etc included in the price although provided in plastic cups and often rather strong (remember to say stop to the barmen). We tended to over-indulge in Malibu, Pernod and strange named cocktails. The bar staff in the Western Saloon were very friendly especially on the night of the world cup where champagne was flying.
We were particularly impressed by the friendliness and professionalism of Alex who worked the bar on floor eight, restaurant and chinese restaurant, she made our holiday. There are plenty of bars around and areas to sit if you prefer a quieter night, but most people can't help themselves get involved in the Western Saloon entertainment. Some of the entertainment may not sound interesting but don't under-estimate it, the entertainment team are excellent. Ms San Miguel and Boogie Night were excellent (and you did not have to join if if necessary) We were frightened off on Boogie night thinking we would have to get up and dance, whilst watching from floor eight we wished we had stayed, excellent end to the evening.
Beach was beautiful, views stunning, plenty of available sun beds, but at a price of 4 euros. Glass bottom boat definitely worth trying 10 euros for adults. Free canoes available and pedal boats for 12 euros. We also visited hippy market and Aguarmar water park the day trip for both was enough although we would have liked more time at the water park. Ibiza sunsent was also a great trip, this gave us a brief glimpse of San Antonio, definitely for the younger generation but interesting markets and shops.
Bus trips to Escanar and Ibiza town were available from outside the hotel although you need to be prepared to spend the day there as the return bus is not until tea time. Taxis cost approximately 25 euros if you wanted to return earlier.
Overall an excellent holiday we spent two weeks there in a party of seven (ages 2 to 53. There was plenty there for everyone. All staff were very pleasant, friendly and helpful. I believe the above is an honest view of our holiday, we would definitely return here if given the opportunity. Thanks Thomsons!!

We have just returned from a weeks holiday here and it was great. We have a boy aged 16 months who had a fantastic time. He played with all the other kids all day and all night. The reps were so lovely and the entertainment was fab. I would go back there no problem. Only little pain was the lifts there is only 2 in the hotel for everyone and resturant is on the 8th floor and everyone trying to get down to the ground floor for the entertainment at night. We did however decide after the 2nd night to walk out of the hotel reception down to the entertainment. Beats queing for lifts then being stuck in there when its very hot. And a lovely walk all down hill to walk of all the food. The views are amazing from up there. The chinese is a must it was so nice and I'm not a big lovely of chinese. Really nice hotel all in all. Basic rooms but as someone else put who stays in there room on holidays.....

The San Miguel Resort is by far the best holiday I have been on. It is perfect for elderly people, and kids alike. Food, Entertainment, complex, layout, activities, bars, and scenery weas excellent. You can never get bored in San Miguel. The hotel and resort are very secure. The hotel is a bit strange because the reception and resturant are on he 8th floor! That doesn't matter because you have the most spectacular views of the sunset, beach, hills, greenery as you eat your evening meal. Truly amazing holiday.
The only things I could critisize are the lifts and drainage around the pool. Just be careful around the pool and ue stairs. They're not that bad!!
I hope you enjoy your holiday if you are going to San Miguel. You will have the time of your life. ENJOY! :)

recently visited san miguel hotel its the best holiday we have been on. The food was great with plenty to chose from. All dining areas are clean and the hotel rooms are very clean. There are 2 pools and they were really nice. The only down fall of the resort was the western saloon area where there were loads of flys around when you was eating. My kids loved it there and you need 2 weeks 1 week wasnt long enough for us. There are fantastic views surrounding the hotel and have some good views from the balconies. We would defo go again didnt want to come home

Just returned from our family holiday a month ago and we are seriously thinking about booking again for next year.
We usually look at the reviews before booking our hoilday and thought some people do just wanna moan for the sake of it so i'm putting my review on here as it was a brilliant hoilday. We where really particular where we went this year as we have a four year old and a nine month old at the time, so we wanted a family holiday that was both good for kids and adults.
First impression when we arrived where that the room was a bit small, but we didn't expect the room to be cleaned everyday but it was, the pool was was cleaned everyday as well! weston salon bar were quick and execellent with the drinks especially slippery nipples lol jose and tito were fantasic
Food at the hotel was different everyday and the chinese was really nice but you gotta book early for that, you could get 4 drinks a time at the 3 bars available which was brilliant.
Kids club was execellant as they could attend several times a day which gave you some alone time to do the various activities available, footy vollyball etc
Megaday in the pool on a monday was really good as you got to show the reps who were boss lol, in general this holiday was brilliant and i wouldnt think twice about booking again for net year

so why start now?
FANTASTIC THATS WHY!
i always read these and think there must be moaning people who dont enjoy themselves.
this goes to show.
dont get me wrong i could have moaned about a few bits but the good bits undid them all.
bad bits.
first impressions didnt go down to well. felt a bit clostrophobic. people were getting up at 6am to reserve their loungers! how ignorant is that? its not the fault of thompsons or the hotel.
we didnt struggle to find one all week so why bother?
flies around did my head in.
weather was poor the last three days.
if thats all iv got to winge about then why blame the hotel.
there is not much to do outside the hotel. be warned.
we struggled to hire a car. taxis are expensive.
good bits.
food was fantastic. the chineese was one of the best iv ever had. the mexican snack bar was good and we eat in the beach club most of the time. couldnt fault it and we enjoyed it! my son lived on pasta for the whole week!!!
the staff in the resteraunts were lovely, the bar staff were friendly and attentive, especially in the western saloon.
the entertainment was first class, (not the thompson run one which was like any other!)
i have never laughed so much for years in the mr san miguel! the belgum entertainer was so funny!
the acrobats were unbelievable and if you had paid to see the entertainment you wouldnd have complained.
the beach is lovely and the sea so warm. fish take bread out of your hand.
the rooms are basic, but do you come on holiday to stay in your room? i dont!
nothing was any problem for the hotel staff, they were friendly but didnt speak much english! if they could help you they would.
there is always things to do for the kids. kids club is all day long! the pools are different and will suit everone.
its a kids hotel for families. dont go if you are a couple or no patience with kids or you wont like it! in my stay the kids were good and i encoutered no problems.
the external prices to use the games pool etc are fair and not over charged.
many people i spoke to have returned for many years.
the people staying were down to earth and friendly. i felt a t home.me.. id go back tomorrow.
thanks beach club. i had a ball!!

We have recently returned from the San Miguel Hotel were we could not fault a thing, well maybe the lifts (but that didn't spoil our holiday, we just took the stairs)! We stayed in the San Miguel Hotel and our friends in the Beach Club. The hotels themselves were great, the view from our room was amazing just like the brochure..I think its definately worth that little bit more that we paid for the Hotel opposed to the Beach Club. The only downside was that you had to go out very very early to reserve a sun bed, even by 7.30am there were hardly any left, but if that were the case you just go to the beach which is literally a foot away!

We are a family of 2 adults & 2 teenagers 16 & 13. We really had the time of our lives at San Miguel Hotel. Facilities are superb although not enough lifts, but you'll need plenty of exercise to work off all the food & drink The quality of food is definitely worth more than 3* The Chinese was fantastic. The Thomson entertainments team especially Jessie, Eva & Zorro were as good as you could ever find. Their enthusiasm is immense. The hotel is quiet, clean & tidy & all staff so helpful. I would jump at the chance to return.

I stayed at the Beach Club in June 2010 with my partner and our 3 children aged 8, 5 & 6 months.
This was our first time abroad with a baby and we were a little nervous. After the journey to Ibiza we were shown to the coach by our reps and after a short journey of about 30 minutes arrived at the Beach Club.
As we flew out on the early flight our rooms were not ready when we arrived but the receptionist, noticing that we had children, offered us the use of a room where we could freshen up and get changed while ours was being prepared.
We were given our all inclusive bracelets so decided to have a look around. It was fairly early but already incredibly hot so the children were delighted when they realised that the bars stocked a variety of frozen lollies and child friendly drinks.
After a short wait we were given our room keys, the rooms are basic but comfortable and incredibly clean. As part of our package we had booked for a bottle sterilizer and stroller (through Thompson) and these were not in the room, I walked to the reception and was told I could rent one for around 10e I refused to pay this as I had already paid in the total cost of the holiday. a moment of panic set in until the realisation that the hotel and Thompson work independantly of each other and the Thompson rep soon gave us our bits (I later rented a kettle from reception).
During the day there are a number of games and activities for adults and children, although my kids spent the majority of their time in the pool. Just a minutes walk from the pool is one of the best beaches on the island, with sunbeds and pedalo's for rent and FREE CANOES that can be used to explore the stunning bay.
The food in the restaurants is good with a varied choice, the fish night was a personal favourite.
Evenings here are amazing with the best entertainments team I have ever seen.
The bar staff are friendly and fun and offer a great variety of drinks.
As the night draws to an end the restaurant holds a secret delight in the form of a sneaky cheese toastie.
Overral this is a great holiday and as a person who swore to never go to the same place twice, have booked again for next year and am bringing the extended family.
