White Waters Hotel

This place is wonderful!! We were there in Jan for 3 nights, it is extrememely clean, very quiet, and welcoming! The staff and owners really out do themselves, nothing is too much bother. Food in restaurant is lovely. Continental breakfast in adequate. Their is flat screen in every room and get many english speaking television programs. If you are used to North american type hotels, you might find this small, we found it did the job and was very homey. A clock radio would have been nice tho. This hotel is simply the best I have ever stayed in. The staff are wonderful - attentive without being intrusive - and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a lovely room on the third floor with sea view and large balcony. We could hear the sound of the sea just a couple of minutes' walk away from our room when we had our balcony doors open. Fantastic Hotel, great location based near the beach front and amongst good restaurants, sea and mountain views, the owners and staff were extremely helpful and went the extra mile, the sort of service you would never dream of receiving anywhere, simply fantastic. If you want to feel as if you have found the best deal of the year stay at the White Waters, Machico. Here you are a guest, not just a room number. Small and friendly with the ability to make you feel special. Immaculately designed and furnished rooms, excellent food and friendly staff. What more could you want. You get a lot for the 3 star rating. Nice enough to hang around the facilities all day, their coffee bar, restaurant and roof terrace. We stayed here on the last night of our trip to Madeira, because of the location of it to the airport. It was initially hard to find because of the lack of signage, but it turned out to be on the main square, all rooms facing the beach. It was a great, clean contemporary hotel, and all of the rooms are unique so as to catch the sea view. We were warmly welcomed, and treated like family. White Waters is a stunningly beautiful, family-run hotel just 5 minutes by taxi from Funchal airport. Our room looked like it’d never had anyone stay there before us (it was spotlessly clean). We were welcomed as if we were old friends, and treated like royalty throughout our stay. Nothing was too much trouble. We have just returned from The White Waters Hotel, Machico. The Hotels location is brilliant, it over looks the central fountain and the main seaside promenade area. Three minutes to the bus stop where regular buses can be caught into Funchall and onwards from there. The cable cars, beautiful gardens, the views, toboggan rides, shopping etc., Then after all that, return to the peaceful town of Machico where you can relax, have a coffee, tea or something stronger and just watch time go by in the cafe-bars or from your balcony in the White... more

My boyfriend and I stayed here for six nights at the end of May, after stumbling upon the website, getting a very reasonable quote and deciding that it would be worth a shot even if rumoured to be neighboured with the island's airport. I stayed at White Waters for 4 days at the end of May - and it was fabulous! This newly decorated boutique hotel overlooks a pretty town square and is without doubt the piece de resistance of the entire area. Our room had gorgeous sunshine streaming in from the large windows and we had a pretty balcony from which we watched the world go by. The restaurant is very popular throughout the day and I know why! Some of the best homemade cakes and coffee I have ever had, and amazing fresh fish - which I ate for lunch and dinner every day....... more
