Barclay House

We were travelling down to West Cornwall and wanted to stop off overnight in a decent hotel in East Cornwall after a long and tireing drive from the North. We turned off the A38 for Looe and by accident found Barclay House about 1 mile from the sea front and were delighted with all aspects of the hotel. This was our second visit to Barclay House and it was superb. The service from all members of staff was always polite, efficient and very friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed with our 3 year old son who was made to feel very welcome and was very well catered for. My wife and I stayed at the Barclay House for a few days over New Year, and found it to be generally a very enjoyable experience with just a few minor glitches. Firstly, some of the many good points: The staff were, without exception, very friendly and even the younger ones were polite and keen to please. This was without their being intrusive in the way that staff at some smaller hotels are. From the moment we arrived to the time we departed, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. The hotel was extremely comfortable with clean, comfortable rooms, and the view over the river to Looe was outstanding. The restaurant was excellent, serving first class food with faultless service. We will certainly be returning.
