I'll try to keep it short. The pillows are hard and lumpy as are the mattresses. Two of six beds provided our group had broken bases so sagged in the middle. We did tell management - they tried to get a bed out of the room (didn't try turning it around) - failed so just... more

We stayed at the Cemre for a couple of weeks, the hotel was basic but was what we expected for the price we paid. We had a "room with a view" at the back of the hotel, it was fantastic... over looking the sea and some islands (including Kos). There was a lovely breeze in... more

Good times
I have stayed in this hotel four times now over the years and it just gets better and better. I have stayed as a couple and also with friends and family. It has been great every visit. They cant do enough for you. It is a good, cheap place to stay if your traveling independently. The food is good and reasonably priced. The staff are particularly friendly and make you feel very welcome, not just to the hotel, but to their country too. I worked for three years in a British run activities hotel just down the beach and know the area well. It has a lot to offer if you go explore. Am heading back to the Cemre for my 5th stay next week!
Excellent hotel
Can't believe the review of the Cemre I have just read! We have stayed there three times over the years and each time had a fantastic holiday. The bar/restaurant staff have all been very friendly although II agree that the 'management' could be more friendly. In June 2005, we were there with a friend and her two young children (5 and 13) and both the boys had a fantastic holiday. There is no entertainment laid on but all the kids there made friends and had a great time in the pool and the sea. Food was great (has improved over the years) and we certainly had none of the problems with cleanliness mentioned. Please don't let the last review put you off the Cemre - take a look at the Holidays Uncovered site if you have any doubts.
BRILLIANT
Anyone who says the Cemre is not for kids is wrong. i was 13 when i went there and it was the best holiday ive ever had. The waiters are the best and the walk to the town is great fun because you walk past loads of other hotels.
The cemre is great!
Last June/July I travelled to Turkey, with my husband, mother in law and sister in law. After a long and hot bus ride from Bodrum to Turgutreis, we eventually arrived at the Cemre. We were greeted by a lovely receptionist( who bore more than just a passing resemlence to a turkish David Walliams!!)who took our bags to our rooms (top floor, a long walk after a long day sunbathing or a large meal!!)and we headed straight for the pool! We found the food, the rooms and the service wonderful, for what is cheaper accomodation. The surrounding restaurants are great, and I would defenately recommend a trip to the Anatolian restaurant, where u have to sit on cushions on the floor, in a beach hut, right beside the sea, it was truly beautiful. Also recommend Udals bar in turgutreis, we made good friends with udal, lovely bloke!! we also treated outselves to a turkish bathn and massage, which was a great experience. We found the market on a saturday hard work, everyone grabs you as you go in and tries to sell u stuff, but as u walk round, they ease off, and there is loads of bargains to be had!! It was also VERY hot when we went in july, which is not for all people!! We did find that there were a few stray animals round the hotel, but Raki, the dog was dead cute, he just likes to be left alone - understandable in that heat!! We had a wonderful stay in the cemre, we stayed by the pool all day, i personally didnt like the beach, its mostly shingle, and not my type of thing, but was nice to sit under the grape strewn canopy of the hotel at nite time! lovely!!
alls well that ends well
Stayed at otel cemre middle 2wks of aug 2005 me, my wife, & 2 sons 14 & 11 with my sister in law & her 2 sons 16 & 8. Arrived early hours of morning went to our rooms & slept.Later that day got up we had been pushed into a twin room with bunk beds instead of a twin room with 2 single beds. Although we were asked by travel co. 4 days before we left England if we had any objections to bunk beds we were not told the room was a twin we eventually sorted this out. Otel was clean & staff couldn't do enough for you, sheets on beds were only changed when asked & towels onlt when left on floor. Apart from all this the views of the sunset from hotel are fantastic & Turgutries is very nice. Places to eat:- Hasans Place, Can restuarant you won't find better steaks any where, The Well, just away from busy town part & owner cannot do enough for you also a little fish restaurant opposite all the boats. Places to drink are plenty but we found Paddys bar & Tashs bar were excellent, local beer & Vodka are very cheap any other drinks i.e Bacardi & coke are normal prices as in Britain. Turkish bath in Bodrum recommended. Aqua park in Bodrum a bit of a nightmare especially if you have younger children as it is on different levels & you cant see all the slides from one or two positions.I was reluctant to go to Turkey for various reasons but we had a great holiday & turkish people were fantastic they were always willing to help & nothing was too much trouble for them. Went to Market in town on Saturday & the first few stalls are very aggressive trying to sell you shirts etc. because they know that once your further into the Market there are lots of stalls selling the same stuff & they love to barter with you so dont dissappoint them & you can come away with some real bargains.
hated it
the cemre otel is not a place to take your kids!it is for older couples.there is nothing for the kids to do.there was no entertainment at all, only card trix by the staff.who i may add were tired out due to overworking them.the staff tried their best to keep us amused.the cleaning staff have absoluteley no idea of "cleaning".we had to take our towels to reception for changing.there were no loo rolls and the bugs were in my sink and hallway all the time.my rubbish mounted up until i sorted it myself.my room was like a shoebox with no lock on the door and a balcony for one, dont know what 2 chairs were doing there, neither fitted outside.the blankets were made from shaving the manky dog ttat walked about growling at us.the stray cats were awful that begged at your feet daily.the breakfast is not suitable for children as nothing was suppliedfor them,no cereals or juice.we were overcharged several nights on the trot until i asked to see my so called tab that they run at the bar.the owners were not at all friendly to us and moaned at the staff about our children on several occasions, their beach balls were taken by the kids next door.music wasnt played if you weent spending money at the bar.too many problems for my liking ,i would never visit cemre again.2 stars is too much for this place,i rate it 1!turkey is a beautiful place but stay at a 4-5 star hotel to be treated properley.the pool is too salty, yet checked every day.it made your eyes so sore, plus dogs and cats drink from it.no slippery floor signs are used,as my daughter fell over as did my godson whose family stayed at the same otel as us.they also had the same complaints,as did many others.i wouldnt reccomend it at all.
cemre is laid back
Me and my boyfriend went to stay at the cemre and i didnt really find much to moan about the hotel. i found it chilled and very laid back and thats the impression i got from Turkey after travelling from place to place for the duration of my holiday. The staff were really friendly and we really got on with everyone there, especially the night desk clerk soal who is the funniest guy you could ever meet. He will go out of his way to help and answer any questions about Turkey you need. the rooms were always clean and the egative review that has been added is not what i experienced. i can say that i never really spent alot of time at the cemre as i was always out looking at things and on the moped. there is a great resturant called the anotolia just down the beach and it has the nicest food and staff you could ever meet. Its real cheap too. its paradise in there! i made some great friends in turkey and the cmre is a nice hotel with friendly staff it had a laid back attitude of turkey. its cheap n cheerful nd recommend it!
Stayed in the cemre twice and will do again
We stayed in the Cemre in Sept 2003 and June 2004 after previously using the Sky Sea 2002 and Water Ville 2001 all in Turgutries. We were well looked after on both occasions and on the second visit we were asked to fill in a comments form on how the hotel could be improved, our only comments were with regard to making improvements to the beach area ie new sun beds etc but the management were already aware of this. The food was good, the staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms cleaned regularly and the sheets (2 each) were changed every second day. The pool area was also clean and safe. The location of the hotel is approx 3km out of the town centre only a short walk or very cheap taxi ride, we would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone going to Turgutries
cemre hotel
we have been to the cemre twice last year and we were there the same time as the people who complained about the dirty sheets and having to go into the basement while they waited for a room. we found the cemre very clean and the bedding was changed every 2nd day, the hotel was full and obviously if you arrive at unusual hours they are not going to throw other guests out. we liked the hotel that much that we are going back in may and taking our son of 17 with us. we have been to Tururtreis seven times and the cemre is one of the friendliest and nicest places we have stayed. The cellar that the writer was on about is where the staff stay and you do not have to go down there. You can sit in the reception room until your room is ready and they will fetch you whatever you want. You have to remember that if you go on holiday that there are certain times that you have to leave and go the same as it is in England. The beach was foll of seaweed because it was very windy at that time and they were always clearing it up. The Cemre was the only hotel along that beach that was full. the people we met in September had been there time after time and i would strongly recommend it
Hated the itchy blankets
We stayed at the Cemre Hotel for one week from 11 to 18 September 2004. First of all when we arrived in Bodrum we were picked up by a Turkish Rep in a minibus. We weren't told anything about the hotel or the resort. When we arrived at the hotel, the Receptionist was fast asleep at the desk and we had to wake him. He then took us down to the basement and we were put into a room which resembled a police cell with a window looking out into a corridor outside about 12 inches wide. I immediately said we were not staying here, and he told us it was only temporary until lunchtime then they would find us a room. The bedding was dirty (we found out later it was where the staff slept). After breakfast we went for a walk to pass time on waiting for a clean room. We were then taken to another room, which was clean and basic, you could just about walk around the room in single file. The balcony was big enough for one person to stand on (not sit in a chair). The bedding consisted of one white sheet (to sleep on) there was no top sheet, but you were supplied with a crocheted blanket which covered from your knees to your ankles and made you itch. These were not changed or washed. There was also some stained blankets in the wardrobe for extra warmth. The food and staff were ok. As we were told at the time of booking the Cemre is on the beach, which in fact it was, but in front of the wooden pallet sunbeds were piles of dried seaweed which the sea had washed ashore and whilst we were there it wasn't cleared away. All other hotels made efforts to keep their part of the beach clean. Lovely sight whilst you are sunbathing, with the added attraction of dogs rolling in it! Talking about dogs, there was constant barking all night long. Apart from that, the resort of Turgutreis was very nice. We are not newcomers to Turkey, this is our fourth time and we have always stayed in basic accommodation which we have never complained about. When you are told the hotel is basic, that's fine but you expect to have nice clean crisp white sheets (2). I would not recommend this hotel and my star rating would be one*. Maybe if they cleaned up the beds and bedding it would get a higher rating, Oh and the beach!. Finally, we had to leave our room at 12 noon although we were not flying home until 2am the following morning. We asked to keep our room on for an extra day and was told we would have to go back to the basement at no extra charge. (we wouldn't have paid anyway).
