Cemre Holiday

We just came back from 2 week holiday in Cemre Hotel Turgutreis, Turkey. We are two girls in their 20s. During the entire holiday we made notes about whats good and whats bad about the hotel, and the city:
GOOD:
- Cleaners were amazing!
- Buses to Bodrum (only 4TL each + they have a/c!)
- The Codfather Restaurant (great food and you must meet Inan)
- Uncle's Restaurant (meet Ozzy - he's beautiful!!)
- La Villa (The best food in Turgutreis but a bit expensive...)
- Hasan's (good desserts)
- Cool Breeze (meet Emreh - he's lovely and hot!)
- Our Garden (family atmosphere and great food)
- Friend's (meet Emmy - he's fantastic)
- Anatolian ( great design!!!)
- Monalisa (meet the guy with curly hair)
- Migros supermarket (cheap and have lots of good fruits!)
- Sinbad boat trip (meet Thomson and Jack Sparrow!)
- Azo Bar (Best bar in town, great people, staff dances topless!!)
BAD:
- Cemre Hotel Restaurant ( food was awful, pizza was uncooked, and the waiter dropped it on the floor..!!!)
- Bed and Breakfast board is poor as they have the same food every day, and there's only like 5 things to choose from! They serve eggs and eggs and more eggs..!!!
- Staff is awful!!! (They have been hitting on us every single day!)
- Dont bother to take your laptop because only one person knows the internet password AND they change it every day!!!
- Air Conitioning is cheap (20TL a week) but rubbish... although you would probably die without it!
- Sunset House Restaurant (whatever offer they make you eg. free drinks, desserts etc.. dont go there.. its really not worth it!)

Just came back from Cemre. We had a lovely time. It was very cheap so we weren't expecting a lot but when we got there we were really pleased. The room was small but clean and the fact that it was small made the air con work better! It was our honey moon and they had sprinkled petals and put our towels in heart shapes which was a really nice touch. They did it a couple more times in the fortnight. We also had a free bottle of wine.
The pool isn't huge but it was never very busy as it is such a small hotel. There is a sandy beach right next to the hotel and there were loungers to use for free.
The food was good. The breakfast was typical Turkish stuff- bread, jam, fruit and there was a huge range of food on the evening menu. It was all well cooked and was reasonably priced.
The staff were fantastic. They were so friendly and worked really hard to make the stay as pleasurable as possible.
All in all it is great value for money and I would definitely go back.

I'll try to keep it short. The pillows are hard and lumpy as are the mattresses. Two of six beds provided our group had broken bases so sagged in the middle. We did tell management - they tried to get a bed out of the room (didn't try turning it around) - failed so just left them. My air conditioning unit leaked water into the wardrobe and soaked my clothes - TWICE! Our bathroom was the worst of the three rooms we had - broken shower stall and just generally scruffy and run down. The rooms are VERY small and the cleaners would spend around 3 minutes per room!!! Our floor was filthy the whole stay.
So, some good points. We had a wonderful bunch of fellow brits to share our holiday with. We arrived Friday and my case arrived Monday afternoon! One lovely lady gave me clothes (thanks Marie), two more gave me travel wash (thanks Nikki and Wendy) and another couple (so sorry I didn't get your names) took my details home with them on the Saturday so they could phone from UK and locate my case for me. They all restored my faith in the human race!
The resort is beautiful but SOOOOO expensive. Take lots of money. The walk is lovely into town but when you're hot and tired it seems awfully long. Had food and drinks at the Cemre been more reasonably priced we would have eaten there more often.
In short - I wouldn't go there again but we did enjoy our holiday .... eventually! If you want cheap accommodation and can put up with the shoddy state of the place then it's ok.

just came back from this holiday at hotel cemre, hotel was not very clean, food was not good very basic no toast on offer fresh orange juice you had to pay for extra. left over bread on your plate was put back in with the fresh even though this was reported to managerment, and to thomas cook rep.showers were unfit for personal use, the boys who worked there were friendly, oh nearly forgot they washed up cups used in the bar sink, plates for breakfast was put out overnight on the makeshift outdoors breakfast bar, with no covering on.this place is up for sale an its no wonder no one wonts to buy they should pay us for going also this lets down as far as I am concerned thomas cook, whom I will not book with again.

Just came back from a week at the Cemre.
Hotel rooms are basic and fairly small, but expected for a 2 star. Shower was leaking when we arrived but it was fixed the same day. Only complaint was hard beds and lumpy pillows.
However, staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good - excellent choice of English, Turkish, etc.
Accommodation was very clean. Sheets and towels changed regularly.
Hot but not crowded so an ideal time to go. Pool was lovely - not huge but more than adequate when not crowded.
Small private beach right by the hotel/ No charge for sunbeds.
Nice and quiet so ideal for families with small children. Not far to walk into town for other restaurant choices or if people want bars, shops, supermarket, etc.
Small mini markets very close to the hotel.
Hotel has lots of books that can be borrowed, plus some games like chess.
Everything you could want really. We had a lovely time.

  • Advice: Room basic, but facilities good and staff friendly.

i really do not know where to start!!! After booking our holiday with Thomas Cook i went straight onto the internet to read some reviews. several reviews later i was wondering whether we had made the right decision....we arrived and woke up the next morning and relised we defiantely did :).
overnight flights are never ideal, so we arrived after what did feel like quite a while on the bus feeling really tired and so was not surpised about my hasty untrue comments about the hotel. but a nights sleep made all the differnce, we woke up and looked out of our sea view room and just smiled it was spectacular! and on further investigation of the hotel everyhting seemed really nice.
i think on the first morning we missed breakfast but only because we had a long day, but on other mornings it was a typical turkish breakfast with bread, jam, tomoatoes, cheese ( we generally just stuck with bread and jam) but what can be better than getting ur breakfast outside and going to sit pretty much on the beach with the fanatastic view.
food - we ate at the hotel quite regularly becuase we knew it was all fresh, loved the idea of an outdoor kitchen and more importantly it was lovely! i would also recommend cool breeze and new garden restaurant the staff are so friendly and make you feel like you are on holdiday which is most important.
activites - we booked through the rep turkish baths which was cheap and fantastic it was an experience i will never forget and the massage afterwards was the perfect way to end the excursion. we also booked mud baths in Dalyan, this was a very long journey from the hotel but in my opinion well worth it. we never used the pool in the hotel but that wasnt becuase we didnt want to just because we liked the sea even better, and i warn you on certain nights Eddie will have you up at the bar doing karaoke which was a huge laugh and really enjoyable.
rooms - our room was basic but like everything else you get what you pay for and for the 8 hours we spent in it every night our eyes were closed so no problem there. there were few minor issues with the room: the shower leaked and bath mat would retain so much water but in all fairness we didnt care you only need to open the curtains to forget everyhting wrong.
staff - i can not say a bad word for the hard working staff at the Cemre. for a start i dont think i ever saw the chef leave his kitchen he was extremely hard working and it paid off. we did get invited into his kitchen and nearly died with heat so fair play to him and we appreciate his hard work especially when we wouldnt sometimes eat till 10 at night. the bar staff were lovely and friendly Alex had us in stitches when he attmepted karaoke!! both the 'waiters' Ronaldo and Cia made us feel at home straight away and would often sit down and have a talk with us of a night when the work died down. reception staff could never do enough for you we even had to ask Eddy to get a big bug out of our room and he was more than willing to rescue us. they are all in one word...fantastic
location - i was extrememly impressed with the location it was far enough out of the way to feel peaceful and relaxed but a short 15 minute walk would get you right into the middle of the bustling town so i feel we had the best of both worlds. becuase you are right on the coast there is a lovely cooling breeze which makes the heat bearable.
we loved it out there so much we are looking to book for next year and im already excited.
make sure you say hello to all the staff from me and enjoy!!!

  • Advice: i highly recommend this hotel
  • Activities: turkish baths, mud baths, cool breeze and the new garden restaurant

We stayed at the Cemre for a couple of weeks, the hotel was basic but was what we expected for the price we paid. We had a "room with a view" at the back of the hotel, it was fantastic... over looking the sea and some islands (including Kos). There was a lovely breeze in Turgetreis which was great as it was so hot. The walk into Turgetries took about 15 minutes along the prom which was so pretty... lined with palm trees and flowering shrubs and flowers (very well looked after). There isn't any transport into Turgetreis unless you get a taxi, so may prove difficult for the elderly and young as it did get very hot. If you like sight-seeing the only place to catch a bus is from Turgetreis, we went to Bodrum (45mins on the bus) fantastic place, especially in the evening. So many places to eat in Turgetreis, we enjoyed eating at the Can - lovely food and the staff are lovely (say hello to Nellie and Andy!), also La Villa was a great place to eat and watch the sunset. We would definitely go back to Turgetreis - it was beautiful!

well well well where do i start...i cant believe half of the reviews ive seen...for 2 weeks prior to stayin at the Cemre Hotel i was panicking thinking it was going to be hell by readin all the reviews on different websites but let me tell you...it was amazing...i couldnt believe it...the hotel was stunningly clean...the family who owns/runs the hotel are so nice and welcoming as for the bar staff an chefs. Im Lauryn and i went there for a week with my partner Nathan. First time in Turkey. for the whole week our bedding and towels were cleaned every day and on the wednesday we had big love hearts on the bed made out of towels with real flower petals laid out on the bed...stunning. the cleaners (young boy and girl - approx 20 yrs old) were lovely, always smiling. pool was clean and refreshing. area around the pool was regularly cleaned. breakfast was turkish a la carte...which i didnt like...but im so fussy anyway. the hotel rooms showers were always hot but it is salty water...which to be honest didnt bother me or my partner as you stil felt clean anyway. just dont open your mouth hehe. hotel had a lovely private beach and the sea water was lovely an cool especially in the hot weather we had. to sum up the accommodation i thought it was fantastic...especially for what i paid. im a flight attendant for Thomas Cook and i have stayed in some stunning hotels in the past few years but this got to be one of the top ive stayed in for warmth and friendlyness and cleanliness :)
Cemre hotel is only a lovely picturesque walk away from bars, shops n resturants. approx 20 mins. i enjoyed walking along the beach front especially at around 8pm at night because the sunset is like nothing else ive seen in my life...incredible :) its quite emotional because its so beautiful.
Food - my partner and i visited some lovely resturants such as Cool Breeze, La Pikant, and Sandals, and many more. Enjoyed all their foods, they all had menus full of choice, the prices are a little cheaper than back home which was great...but on the last day of our holiday; walking around the back shops we noticed little resturants, not as posh looking as the ones we went into but they were exactly the same foods (and just as nice as holiday friends told us) and were way way cheaper than what we paid on the seafront...so next year (because we have booked already for same hotel but 2 weeks next yr :) we will try the back resturants lol and because the small back resturants werent posh and were owned by genuinely nice people who didnt look like they were well off so next yr it will be nice to spend our money in these small resturants :)
Bars - there were no clubs but the strip of about 5/6 bars we lively enough...every night of our holiday we went to Tash's Bar...i cant tell you how much of a laugh and a great time we had...Tash is the owner he is so nice but what made it was the bunch of 16-26 year olds that served you at your seats...they wre hilarious and so down to eath...we made some great friends and we are stil in contact via facebook..theres Ronaldo whos the manager..then theres Justin, Emre, Shady, Weysom and TJ...lovely boys, cant believe how many photos i have of them. Me and Nathan went to a few other bars but nothing compared to Tash's Bar. I found Tash's was very friendly and welcoming and relaxing...and the boys always got me and nath up dancing :)
Boat trips - there are alot of men who own boats that are out at night that try to sell u boat trips and we got roped into buying one for £15 each....well it was the best boat trip ive ever been on...stunning sites...plenty of drop offs at different points approx 15 miles from Turgutreis, crystal clear waters, we had a meal of chicken, noodles and salad and a cup of tea and cake all included in the price, drinks were extra but thats how they make their money..we had music and dancing...even the captain came out and had a dance it was brilliant...we couldnt believe what we got for the price ...fabulous...we went with Destiny Boat...and from talking to other people who went on other boats for their boat trips i think me and nath had the best because there were too many people on their boats where as Destiny Boast will only take a maximum of 25 people. And Sam...was the guy who came and sat down with us while me and nathan was in Tashs Bar...as if he had known us for years and started chatting nd then asked us if we were interested in the boat trip...and he kept visiting us in the nights leadin up to the boat trip, i thought he wouldnt want to know once we had been on the boat trip but he still came an had a chat with us...so what im tryin to say is that if u want to go on a boat trip book with Destiny.
Turkish Bath - is a must. £10 per person...booked through Thomas Cook rep at the welcome meeting on the frist day (where also we had a complementary drink off the hotel staff) This again i cant believe what we had for the price...just unreal. transfer included I wont go into details but its one of the most relaxing day ever...check out http://www.rayolahamam.com/index.asp and watch the videos on the first page to see what goes on :) you wont disappointed.
Aquapark - in bodrum is fab...and great day out..fab rides.
Theres not much left for me to say...i wanted to give u detailed descriptions because so many people have wrote some horrible things...which personally i think is just being petty...theres nothing wrong at all with the hotel..the staff..the area...nothing. If you dont get a sea view room at the Cemre dont complain..your never in ur rooms anyway. I just hope who ever does visit the Cemre from now on writes a review because everyone we met out there wo stayed at the hotel loved it.
so in all honestly u will have an amazing holiday...please stay at the Cemre Hotel its stunning :) have a great one!
From Lauryn xxx

Me and my husband booked for the mandalinci in turgutreis, but 2 weeks before we went they said it was being refurbished, so we were then given the cemre, the mandalinci was a 3* plus and the cemre is a 2 star, god knows who give it 2 * the hotel was filthy, our bedding was never changed the food was never cooked properly, the omelettes were served runny, and as for the breakfast i wud of rather starved which we did, i would never in a million years recommend this holiday to any one not even my worst enemy, the hotel needs shut down for cleaning and repairs, i am currently going thru thomas cook for a refund, here is the worst thing i took my pillowcase off and the pillows was covered in mould,

the hotel was ok.... you pay for what you get. breakfast was not worth ever getting up for!
rooms were small, not REALLY clean but clean. the bath mat was the joke around all our friends it was sopping and a health risk!!
we met some fab people, it was these that made our holiday. the staff were friendly, the management were not. We spent quite a lot of money in their hotel and we were lucky if we got a nod never mind a smile.
the receptionist FATIH... ah well he was the one that brought everyone together, he was funny, made an effort with everyone, and always made people laugh. he is the one the people would go back to see ...no one else. He should be paid lots of money just to keep him!!! i know everyone we met felt the same. his english was really good....better than mine when i have had a drink haha

Jul 2008, Mr M Drakeford

Just returned from Turkey staying at the Cemre Hotel for 1 week on half board in July 2008.
The Hotel was fantastic, the staff could not not do enough for the residents, the pool was clean and well maintained. The resturant had an addtional menu for food other than the half board menu and we just paid the diffrence in cost which suited us.
The room we stayed in was not excactly what we wanted as it was at the front of the hotel over looking the road, we tried to have a pool veiw, however it worked it out better as in the evenings the music from other bars and hotels adjacent to the Cemre was loud and could have kept us up till the very early hours of the morning.
The down side of the front rooms was the early morning delivery lorries, a small price to pay.
The rooms have air conditioning which you have to pay £20.00 per week for which is a little high when most hotels have this as standard. The rooms are compact, but have what you need, shower, twin beds, could do with a couple of extra power points to charge phones, cameras, etc.
We booked via the internet, but I would suggest contacting the hotel direct as you can book the rooms for just £7.00 per person per night, that way you only need to book the flight which would be a lot cheaper. The Hotel also offer a pick up service from the airport for £30.00 each way which I would advise you to do as the shuttle service via the package holiday operator can take up to an hour and half from the airport which after a long flight adds to the journey time.
We enjoyed our stay that much at the Hotel we are going again in September. The Turkish people are wonderful, they are very friendly and totally accomadating.
If you decide to go to the Cemre Hotel you will not be dissapointed. The sea is just oppersite the Hotel with its own beach, the water is so clear and clean and great for snorkling if youre into that.
The main town has numerious bars and resturants all catering for the English, you must also do the boat trips, it costs £10.00 for the whole day inc lunch, you visit several lagoons where you can jump of the boat and swim where no one else can, it is memorable.
The sunsets in this area are beyound belieave. If you have young children be sure to protect them from the sun as it is blisstingly hot when we went in July.
Have a great holiday.

Apr 2008, Mrs M DAWSON

I have stayed at this hotel four or five times - it is excellent and very clean. We were only once given a room we were not happy with and we were moved.
The food has always been of an excellent high quality. The owner (Mrs) is very friendly and speaks to me via one of the waiters as her English is not too good. The family are also very friendly. I love the dog Raki (if he is still there as he was getting old) he is a very independent dog although he has sometimes come for a stroll with us in the evenings.
I love the location straight off breakfast on to the beach. It is a 15 minute stroll into town in the evenings or sometimes for a quiet night we eat at the hotel and sometimes we go to the restaurant over the road where we have become good friends with the family there.
I would love to go back to the Cemre again thisyear but my husband has been in poor health and I don't think it will be possible.
