We have just returned from a two week stay at The Prince of Lillies where we had our best holiday ever! The hotel was beautiful and the staff all worked very hard to make sure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible especially Yanis, Eleftheria and Manos who not only... more

Good for short stay
We stayed 2 nights having previously stayed at Rethymnon, but wanted to be near Heraklion airport due to an early morning flight (10 minutes drive away). Rooms simple, clean & cozy, nice balcony (but slight problem with very slow shower drainage). Large clean pool - plenty loungers. Management & staff very pleasant. Excellent restaurant - especially pizza, salad, house white wine. Nice beach 10 minutes walk away - but lots of litter except on part of beach with resort sunbeds. Close surrounding area pretty... more
For us, it's a home from home
We have just returned from our second visit to the Prince of Lillies and were not disappointed. Ok, so the accommodation isn't up to Ritz standards, but then you're not paying Ritz prices. During our visit we had maid service every day and the pool was clean and a delight to swim in. We like this hotel because it is close to the airport - so expect to hear aircraft noise! As regular visitors to Greece, and Crete in particular, we know what to expect from different types of accommodation but to us the room is for sleeping and showering - not... more
Should be called the "Pauper of Lillies"
We just returned from our stay at Prince of Lillies and are still itching from our experience. The place is a borderline dump. There were three of us and when we showered we had ankle deep water in the bathroom as a result of the bathroom (not shower) drain not working. The staff was blase about the shower issue and didn't seem to think it was an issue that we had to mop up the floor with all their towels. (Check your towels if you stay there - they may have been used to mop our floor.) The night we stayed there was cool enough to keep... more

It is with regret that you did not enjoy your stay with us. It's worth noting, though, that our hotel is essentially a budget hotel and not everything can be perfect. As for your comments about breakfast; I fail to see how freshly baked bread (delivered direct from the bakery still warm at 7am), cheese, ham, condiments, cakes and so on can be described as "ineddible". Put another way; you get what you pay for. We provide exceptional value for money all things considered and almost all reviews will concure with this. We are in Greece, and may not match American standards.

We're "Prince of silly" to have choosen this hotel...
Hi everyone, I'm french but as I've started my title in english, i'll just keep on writing in this mood. To start with, I've never seen a swimmingpool as dirty as the one of "Prince of Lillies". The water was so cloudy that not only I couldn't see my feet, but my breast has disappeared in the water (not that I like watching my breast, don't worry!). There were a lot of tourists near the pool and when we saw two rough guys throwing the reclining chairs in it, we understood the state of the water. Then, because it wasn't disgusting... more

Are you sure you are talking about the same hotel? Prince of Lillies is a dominant hotel in the village of Karteros, and the suggestion that "nobody knew where it was" is quite amusing - most of the locals dine here each evening (and that should tell you something about the quality of the restaurant!). Also, Prince of Lillies has a massive illuminated sign outside. As for "wandering around in 45c" I would hazard a guess that you'd have died in such temperatures! ...sorry that you didn't enjoy your stay here.

Great Hotel
This hotel was great! Very close to Iraklio when taking the bus. The bus stop is right outside the hotel. The hotel was very cheap to stay at and it was clean, had a great pool, was close to the beach, had great bars, great service and friendly staff, the owners were very nice to us, GREAT food at the hotel restaurant, singing entertainment while you eat dinner, a good breakfast, a bakery and supermarket across the street, what more could you ask for for such a cheap price? Two out of the 4 owners were from England too so they spoke... more
great hospitality
even though I did not stay at this hotel, i still wish to write warm words on their hospitality! we stayed at an hotel nearby and late at night we came back to Amnisos from an evening in the center of town (celebrating my 51 birthday). We came to their restaurant just for coffee and were immediately greeted cheerfully by the hotel owner. later on we were served with fresh fruit, and then a few minutes later he showed up with a special dessert with a drink for all of us - toasting together my birthday! needless to say we were... more
Great stop over
we used the hotel for two 1 night stop overs, rooms were very good and the pool was excellent, excellent tavern on site with very friendly staff, We will be using in again next year Would recommend this hotel for 1 or 2 night stay over when travelling around crete! Steve Ward and family (Bradford)
Near to Heraklion
The Hotel is on the old road from Heraklion to Agios Nikolaos just 4 Klms from Heraklion airport. The room was ok but nothing special. If you have to stay for 1 or 2 days its o.k. The swimming pool was smal but clean and the breakfast very spartanish. In all if you are looking for a place to stay and not to pay a lot its the right place.
