We are a 40 something couple without children and have just returned from a week staying at the Talayot. The hotel sits in a superb location right on the seafront between Cala Millor and Cala Bona with both resorts literally only being a few minutes walk away. We paid a little extra to have a room with a sea view and this was well spent as the hotels sits just back off a lovely promenade with fantastic views right across the bay from our balcony. Externally the hotel does look a little dated however this is deceptive as internally it is decorated, cleaned and maintained to a fairly high standard. The staff in the hotel are efficient, very friendly, spoke excellent English and can't do enough to make your stay a good one. Equally the food was of a high standard and very much geared towards its almost solely UK clientele. The guests were very much of a mixed age group though the ratio did tend to be more towards the older end and there were no immediately apparent facilities for young children. At the rear of the hotel is a good-sized outdoor pool, bar and large paved area which offers plenty of scope for both sun lovers and the sun shy as the mature trees offer excellent natural shade to some parts.

The only negative I could find with the hotel was the fact that they charge you 14 Euros if you want to have the use of the fridge in your room by way of a key to unlock it. Rather amusingly one of the couples in the hotel had decided that rather than paying for both a safe and fridge in their room they would keep their money and passports locked in the fridge!

The resorts of Cala Bona and Cala Millor are very different. Cala Bona tends to be a little tacky, untidy and uncared for whereas Cala Millor has had what appears to be a complete make over. It is has a very sizeable shopping area which is very clean, completely pedestrianised and is lined with a good selection of good quality shops, bars and restaurants. The beach in Cala Millor, though of a reasonable size, can become very busy at peak times during the day.

All in all this was one of the best holidays I have been on and I have returned completely relaxed and refreshed. Over the years I have never really felt the urge to return to the same hotel twice however this is a trend that I am about to change thanks to the Hotel Talayot.

Just returned from Tayalot hotel and it was what I expected from various independent reviews and value for money .

The hotel has an excellent location and the room is fairley good for a 3 star hotel , although the bathrooom is small . Great balcony with sea view from room 319 .

The hotel has a lot of 60+ English repeat guests and consequently the services seem to be exclusive to their needs . The food was very British mainly a Sunday Luch everynight normally a choice between Roast , Chicken and Fish . In two weeks there cannot recollect one Spanish dish on the menu .

The entertainment was the usual bingo and Caberet aimed at the regular clientelle . Therfore if I wanted a British home from home in the sun would have give this hotel 10/10 but I'm 44 and saw this hotel as a good quiet location for doing my own thing .

I would syay that Cala Millor has a lovely but crowded breach , 80% of tourists are Germans families , 20% British 60+ . Therefore place seemed very quiet of night with little to do . Not a lively resort as described by tour operator. So if your not one of above best give a miss if you want more lively nightlife .

Nice quiet room on 5th floor, cleaned daily.

Food was very good and plenty of choice. Hotel had very good furniture, lifts and 2 swimming pools and A/C.

Situated just away from centre and 5 paces from the sea.

Would go again.

This holiday was one to remember for all good reasons. The weather was fantastic for February (sunshine 6/7 days), the rooms were clean, the facilities were good and I could go on.

I would say we had the best room in the hotel. Room 121 was sea facing and at a perfect height which meant we had the tops of the palm trees with the sea for a view. Better than Leeds!

This was a family room but it didn't matter that there were only two of us because the hotel had only opened a week earlier for the new season. The positioning of the hotel was good for transport, the sea, shops, bars, everything.

The rooms were very well furnished and were kept very clean by the maids.

The staff were brilliant, especially Andreas who made us laugh every night and I couldn't believe it when he said he'd been working there for 27 years. Entertainment was reasonably good.

It was good on a night when Andreas got the bingo rolling. On the Saturday night, there was a singer who had her own jazz band and used to work on the cruise ships with Jane McDonald.

Unfortunately for her, she was used to large audiences, probably up to 1000, so we did feel kind of bad when there were about 15 of us listening to her.

Breakfasts were very substantial with a wide variety to choose from. The evening meal was very good and a wide selection of meats, salads, veg, potatoes.... Every night there was something different.

There were more elderly people than young at the hotel. Some were staying for 4-5 weeks. I personally don't blame them. Andreas was brilliant, the hotel was brilliant, Thomson were brilliant, the holiday was excellent.

Both my Mum (age 60) and myself (age 35) have enjoyed staying at the Talayot for the past 3 years, however this year we were saddened to find the overall standards in the hotel have dropped.

The food selection, particularly at dinner has reduced and the salad bar options are now very basic where previously an excellent choice was available. A large quantity of the crockery is either chipped or cracked and although I raised this it was not removed from service. The dinning room staff continue to provide a good service and are the only constant in this area.

The cleanliness of the rooms has sadly reduced to a very poor standard and having stayed in the hotel for 14 nights I was disappointed to find the floor and the balcony area were not cleaned once! The only cleaning tasks carried out during our 14 night stay was the replacement of towels & toilet rolls and the making of beds (however the linen was only changed once). The rooms whilst comfortable now need some attention and the small fridges provided (at a cost) provide very little cooling.

The entertainment has always been of a fairly basic but enjoyable standard and aimed at the more senior guests, however the entertainment is now VERY basic and revolves around Andreas and his poor attempt at humour and English! More funding is needed for professional entertainment e.g. singers etc.

The staff in the hotel are excellent and continue to provide a high standard of service, in particular Juan who works in the bar.

The main attraction of the Talayot remains its location but that is not enough to bring us back for a 4th year which is very sad.

TALAYOT - YOU NEED TO RAISE YOUR STANDARDS AND REMEMBER YOU CAN'T TRADE ON LOCATION ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!

A very good standard of accommodation. Unfortunately, we were allocated rooms on the first floor immediately above the entertainment, which meant that our young daughter couldn't get to sleep until it finished at half eleven.

However, the entertainment was very good, and the resident entertainer/waiter/man of all trades - Andreas - was worth the money of the holiday alone. A very nice pool, providing plenty of shade in the afternoons. Not really suitable for young children, although there is a very small toddler pool.

Good food selection, although it would have been nice to have more Spanish food available - there were a lot of chips!

Very friendly staff, excellent cleanliness and a lovely atmosphere.

We always try to book a hotel that doesn’t have many children’s facilities ,as the parents of grown up children, we now want peace and quiet, and although this hotel does accept children I certainly wouldn’t recommend this hotel for families.

The first week we were there we were the youngest (40-41 !!!) there. But this by no means spoilt our enjoyment. Had great fun with all the oldies (some of which have been going to the Talayot for the past 20 years)and got lots of new nana’s !!!.

Andres is the ace in the pack. His bingo is a scream as is the rest of his entertainment. Look out for Nick Faldo behind the bar (Danielle) and Kevs dry sense of humour. The hotel is in a great position and was the first to be built in Cala Millor.

It is immaculately clean, no matter what time of day the maids are out cleaning. We had a side view room, which was fantastic as we got the sea and the mountains..

The food is superb with a great choice and a roast every night, the prawns are gorgeous.. Also recommend Andres paella demo on Wednesdays.

Also, forgot to mention that on our first week there, there was a tornado out at sea, and watching the funnel come down from the sky and suck up all the water was a real highlight and a sight to behold as we on land were bathed in glorious sunshine...we would definitely recommend to anyone over 40 !!!!
