Stewart Hotel

We were told that this new owner took over a couple of months ago--can't imagine he'll last long. He's kind of bi-polar--if you catch him when he's making nice, don't fall for it. He overbooks his hotel and is terrorizing local B & B owners by telling them he needs their rooms for this June and July. Alternatively, you can, he said "take it or leave it" and sleep 4 people to a room--2 people per single-size bed. Whilst this hotel is probably great for walkers, especially in large parties, it is not so great for individual families or couples. Not surprised that the website doesn't show the ugly extension where all of the guests rooms are ( the owners & family live in the main house ). Decoration and construction are poor and the Hotel is noisy, cold and draughty. The cheap laminate flooring is everywhere, and the kitchen worktop acting as a bar counter has a comedy quality to it. Having read the other reviews here, I'm wondering if I stayed at the same hotel. The welcome was excellent, and the (new) owner was friendly - we were walking the Caledonian Challenge and had tons of kit which didn't faze them. The old bit of the hotel (which iis pretty much all you see in photos) is lovely, but the bar has been completely wrecked with cheap laminate flooring, poor quality furniture and even kitchen worktop as a bar surface.
