Apex Waterloo Place Hotel

What a great find, 10 mins from waverley station, amazing rooms, really fantastic, welcoming staff, great food, nice bar, BRILLIANT value, WHEN'S THE POOL GOING TO OPEN? Best breakfast in edinburgh, no doubt, peter restaurant manger dude is really charming, well done great opening, keep it up.

Stayed first weekend it was open (20th and 21st) and it was just brilliant. Yes there are minor things that still need doing but nothing that affected our stay. The staff, particularly Jennifer on reception are a credit to the hotel and the management team; so friendly and efficient and always smiling. The decor of the hotel; mixing the old building with a modern contemporary twist is great. The rooms were great ( we were in a superior double) - bed was really big and the tv was huge! I stayed for one night 20 March when the hotel had only been open a matter of days. There were teething problems but any problems were sorted out swiftly and with a smile by the excellent staff. The pool was not open but I was taken to see it and also the excellent meeting facilities (for a planned future business conference) and was very impressed. This hotel was really nice. The reception staff were exceptionally helpful, They upgraded our room on arrival as it was an anniversary which was so sweet! The room was fab with a fab bath big enough for two!! We checked out the pool too which was really lovely! My only complaint was the food and drink in Eliot's bar. I had the worst sandwich Ive ever had there along with a pot of seriously cold tea!!!! The meat was completely raw and had turned the bread pink...uuughhh, felt quite sick after!!! My daughter and I stayed at the Apex Waterloo for three nights in March, arriving one or two days after the hotel opened. The staff was as friendly and helpful as anyplace I've ever stayed. There were no hangers in the room; they provided them right away. The window was locked; someone came immediately to unlock it. We were on the noisier side of the hotel; they were very accomodating about moving our bags to the other side while we were out. Stayed for 2 nights 20-22 March (one night was a lastminute.com WIGIG deal, the other was booked on booking.com which was the best rate I could find) with my friend for a girly city break. It was great service - we arrived at the hotel around 9am from our early morning flight in the hope that we could stow our suitcased there until check in time. Just returned from a bargain Saturday night stay at the Apex Waterloo (it was a Lastminute.com WIGIG deal). Warm, friendly welcome on arrival. Check-in busy but efficient. Received a free upgrade to a corner room and as the room wasn't ready for us by our arrival time (4pm) we received a free drink in the bar. Hotel was only opening this week officially so I believe this was first night to have guests staying in the hotel. Rooms were 'brand new' so no complains - Styling very nice with a good shower / comfortable beds and a 42' TV! Staff were very plesant and helpful.
