" &th Time At Los Delphines "
Submitted By: menorcatThat said, the appartments, although basic, are really quite clean and tidy and the maid service is pretty good. There's a fairly large supermarket about 200 yards from the back of the complex which has a good range but is a little pricey. (TIP: just before the supermarket is a pedestrian crossing, to the right of the crossing a dirt track heads off to the right. This is a shortcut to the nearest "beach" or cove.)
The evening entertainment this year was pretty dreadful; the worst I've ever seen it. I think it's because far more people have gone all inclusuve this year and the management, believing they've got a "captive audience", don't bother to put on any reaaly good shows.
The bar service is also pretty terrible and there's nearly always a long queue. The beer comes out of a San Migel tap, but it certainly isn't San Migel. At 2.75 euros it's the same price as last year, but I really would recommend buying bottled beer (or take your own, as I noticed they've taken down the "don't bring your own food or drink" sign this year).
Opposite the main entrance to the hotel is a bar/restraunt called "La Prada", which is pretty good. I strongly recommend that you walk a little further (about 300 yards) to a bar called "Castaways". (Walk to the main road and turn left). Here you can get a cracking breakfast, (or any other meal) and a damn good pint of San Migel. It's owned by a really friendly Menorcan named Diego who played football in the UK. His partner Laura and her brother Martin also work there (they're from Lincolnshire) with Diego's dad, Juan.
Would I go back to Los Delphines? You bet your life I would! I really hope to go again before the end of the year, if not then certainly next year. Just remember to go self-catering and stay in the apartments.
IMPORTANT: If you smoke (especially roll-ups) make sure you take plenty with you as you can only get cigarettes out of vending machines, and you won't be able to buy tobacco anywhere, unless you catch a bus into Cuitadella.
Advice: small, friendly resort
Activities: castaways

" 7 days in sunny June "
Submitted By: mcpezzaThe pool and the sunbathing areas were always clean and tidy with plenty of sunbeds and places for children to play.
The hotel bar run by particularly grumpy staff is next to one of the pools and another situated in the central area also serving snacks. The daytime entertainment team worked hard and were a great hit with the children. The evening entertainment we saw was a bit average.
The restaurant served buffet style meals that were very mediocre. Most days two out of three plates were dirty. but the "all you can eat" pleased many guests who appeared to favour quantity above quality. Hot food like English breakfast items were often cold, evening meals we gave up on after the second night, eating out at the many local restaurants where we always had fabulous freshly cooked dishes. La Parada opposite reception is highly recommended.
The hotel is located in a residential area close to Los Delfines main street and adjacent to a waterpark. Our tour rep introduced Menorca as the Balearic island with more beaches than Ibiza and Majorca combined. Unfortunately none are close to this hotel however there are many coves or "Cala's" within walking distance. You need to search out the footpaths to these but we found they were well worth the effort. Cala N'Bruc became our favourite with sunbathing areas cut into the rocks.

" Just back from super holiday, stayed... "
Submitted By: Mrs M ScullionHotel basic but clean. Well positioned for the beautiful coves or the shops and many
restaurants. So what was the problem? we went half board and that when things started to go wrong. Food COLD - RAW or Frozen in the Middle - or just plain under cooked!!!!!!
Also the pads of butter were mouldy.
We also had to endure the same menu for five days out of our seven day stay.
SO DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR GO SELF CATERING ONLY.

Submitted By: Mrs CA CrowleyThere is plenty to do in the town centre and it is only a 5 mins walk from los Delfines apartments. My children were 12 and 14 when we went and they loved every minute of it, although the town does cater for more younger children.
The waterpark is just over the road and in high season can get busy, my advice is to go in after 3.30pm when it is half price, the big coach parties have gone so there is no queuing for the slides, and that way you can go in another day. We went on some of the trips and the best one in my opinion was to see the Black Pearl Horses.
The food is cheap but not up to a very high standard in the various restaurants, although the Chinese buffet was excellent and cheap 'the best we have ever had' and the snack bar 'castaways' gave the best breakfast and snack food.
The apartments were basic but clean, and apart from Sunday we had a maid service every day, with linen change twice a week. The cooking facilities were not great, the hob did not work, and the fridge did not get cold, the freezer compartment did not freeze ice lollies or ice cream, and it seemed that way for everyone we spoke to. There is no air-conditioning but you can hire fans, and we found them sufficient.
My only gripe is the sunbed situation. You had to be up at 7.30am to place a towel on the spot where you want your sunbed, then at 8.30am they are unlocked and it is a free for all, began to get quite nasty.
Overall we had a lovely holiday but would not return.
" Overall a sound hotel - Hotel rooms... "
Submitted By: Mr G BurroughNot enough room for 4 of us ( 2 adults and 2 kids inc cot) apartments were basic but clean and just the job really - even had microwave , toaster , kettle. All you need. So don’t worry about what people say about this hotel , it’s ok .
Food was ok but not enough choice - unless you like chips every night , staff were friendly , loves kids.
As for the food situation , you have a nice restaurant just outside the main entrance, not cheap though. The best tip I can give you is eat at the aqua park just around the corner, about 3 mins away from hotel. really nice . I had pork steaks x 4 and chips with pepper sauce for 5.50 euro that’s 4 quid , can’t go wrong can you!!
If you’ve got kids they will love the aqua park which has bouncy castle type things & trampolines. they do a good deal on sangria and champagne jug for 9 euro . must try!!
Don’t forget to check out the square in the town for live ent.
Karaoke is the good at the Sinatra bar just through the arch on the right, just passed burger king
All that’s left to say is We would move to Menorca tomorrow
Gav.
" First impressions were ok a bit basic... "
Submitted By: Ms S GoodmanThe bath was rusty so white paint had been applied to disguise the fact. There isn't really any beaches near by so its fine if you like lying by the pool all day (but get up early for the mad dash for the sunbeds, a bit like the January sales really). We wont be going there again but you never know there might be someone out there who enjoys this type of holiday.
" We booked this holiday with friends... "
Submitted By: Mrs N ChapmanOur first impression of the hotel was not good! When we arrived , it was nearly midnight and we were horrified to see a group of people throwing themselves into the pool, screaming and shouting foul language at each other. This went on for about an hour.
When we got up in the morning we had a chance to check out our apartments. The other party that were with us seemed to have got a better deal with their cleaner - our apartment was not in the best of states and we had to call the rep in when we discovered used cotton buds amongst other items under the bed.
Thankfully, she got straight onto it and our room was much better after that. We also mentioned the pool incident from the night before and I have to hand it to her, it didn't happen again after she warned them they would be out of their rooms if there were any more complaints.
To sum up the apartments and hotel, we had a really good holiday. The entertainment was great mostly down to Hugo and Jesse who were hilarious. They put on all sorts of activities during the day and their night time shows were great fun (if not sometimes a bit on the cheesy side but who cares when you are on holiday).
The 3 pools were lovely (the only downside was towards the end of the holiday when someone decided to use the main pool as a toilet - not nice, but the life guard and caretaker dealt with the manner immediately closing the pool, and cleaning it thoroughly).
The apartments were ok - a bit on the basic side and no air con (it was boiling hot). There was a pool side bar which served drinks and basic food, it was fine for what we needed, but not if you want something more substantial but the supermarket is just over the road.
Cala'n Forcat itself was a bit of a letdown. It was a nice enough place but the lack of decent restaurants together with the tacky souvenir shops was disappointing. We were lucky enough to stumble upon a little taverna out of the main shopping/eating area up on the headland called El Patio.
This is where we ate for at least 50% of the holiday and it was brilliant. Juan the owner had a great sense of humour and fantastic food to go with it, as well as great prices. A much better deal than in town. We had been recommended the aqua park restaurant but it was dreadful. I had paella and it was more like Batchelors savoury rice.
I'm undecided as to whether I would recommend this place as a resort to visit. The beach wasn't brilliant - very small indeed and lots of jelly fish. We really enjoyed our holiday but mostly due to whom we were with and the hotel staff - not the resort and not the resort facilities.
