Overall this is a nice hotel and we enjoyed our stay here. The Hotel is nicely situated on the beach and at the start of the main strip. 20 minute walk to the main part of the strip though and the beach by the hotel is rocky. We did pay to upgrade to a Superior/ Deluxe... more

Arrived after a good flight from Newcastle to a long wait to get your suitcases. This took more than an hour. Waited another half hour for a taxi, but as Thursday is probably the busiest day for flights you have to expect that. Got to hotel which was very nice. Reception... more

The San Antonio Hotel is 4 stars and is a very good 4 star hotel. Staff were always very helpful and friendly. There is plenty of choice at mealtimes and even for vegetarians. The rooms were moderate in size, very nice bathroom. Every room appears to have a sea view. The... more

We’ve stayed in a Villa not far from this hotel, so we knew the area quite well before we arrived. Hotel is lovely - me and my partner were 20 and 19 when we stayed and we found it to be fine for what we needed: we went to relax, not to get drunk every night... if this... more

Fantastic place! Great hotel right on the edge of a large touristy part of the island, but only a short journey from the more traditional parts, and the unspoilt national parks. Fantastic outings and experiences were available from the operator including helicopter rides,... more

This for me was the perfect place to stay, I went with my boyfriend in June 2002 but when we left he was my fiancé! The hotel was so clean and pictures, it was a dream holiday and reasonably priced. I liked Lanzarote because it was very hot but had a light breeze, which... more

Going back, what else can I say
I'm going back in April 2006 and can't wait. Suits all ages. I went with my Mother who is 80 and my daughter age 14 along with my freind and her daughter. The staff are really lovely, food is great and the hotel is very peaceful.
Good location, disappointing food, not 4 star standard!
We spent a week at the Hotel San Antonio and were left very disappointed by it: ROOM: The room was cleaned daily and we had no complaints with the cleanliness of the room but we found the room to be extremely small and cramped for a room in a 4 star hotel. The walls seemed to be paper-thin as you could constantly hear people opening and closing their doors, fortunately we didn't spend much time in the room as there is plenty to do in Puerto Del Carmen and the surrounding areas. FOOD: The food at the Hotel San Antonio was very disappointing. The food was always cold or lukewarm at best. Breakfast was below average, dinner ranged from being awful to inedible. There was a lack of choice and variety of what was on offer and it is fair to expect more from a 4* highly priced hotel. We also found that they ran out of some food and did not replace it. We tried visiting the restaurant at different times to see if the food was warmer with more choice but it didn't seem to matter what time you went the food was always cold. We spoke to other guests who also commented on the poor standard of food. One couple had visited the hotel 3 times previously and stated that they had noticed a gradual decline in the quality of food. They said they would not return to the hotel again as the standards of food and service have dropped since their first visit but the price remains extremely high for 4* half board in Lanzarote. For the last couple of nights we ended up eating out for our dinner as Puerto Del Carmen has an endless choice of excellent restaurants at very reasonable prices. STAFF/SERVICE The staff in the reception, restaurant and bars were always pleasant. The service in the restaurant was extremely slow and you were left waiting a long time to be served your drinks. In fairness to the waiting staff, the restaurant did seem to be understaffed. ENTERTAINMENT: We never seen an evening show as there are so many bars to go to in Puerto Del Carmen that there is no need to stay in the hotel. The daily entertainment was good and the guy who ran the entertainment was very friendly and never forced you into taking part if you didn't want to. OVERALL: We enjoyed our holiday in Lanzarote and will return to Puerto Del Carmen. The hotel San Antonio is clean and in a good location but looks somewhat dated and is in need of a revamp and the food leaves a lot to be desired. Our advice to anyone considering staying at the Hotel San Antonio is to look at other options in Lanzarote as the hotel does not deserve its 4* rating.
Gorgeous place
I came here for a business meeting and was so delighted! It was just beautiful. The pools and the terraces were delightful, the trees and the view spectacular. Breakfast was busy but good. Staff were helpful. The hotel was very conveniently located on the edge of Puerto del Carmen. The room was pretty average in terms of furnishings and comfort, but the bathroom and the balcony were great. I'd recommend this hotel and wouldn't mind at all going there again.
Loved it!!!
I have just come back from the San Antonio Hotel and have to say that the hotel is absolutely wonderful. It is peaceful and idyllic. The food was excellent and the staff could not be more helpful. We did not venture out much in Puerto Del Carmen as we had no need to as the hotel provided everything we required. I would not hestitate in returning to the hotel in the future.
Hotel San Antonio Lanzarote
Have just returned from a week at the Hotel San Antonio and cannot get over the bad reviews for this place which has prompted me to post my own to reassure potential visitors. The hotel sits in a really good location within Puerto del Carmen, quiet by day but nr. enough to walk or get a taxi into town either day or night. Pls note that taxis are easily accessible and regulated by meters so you can't get ripped off either. Cheap anyway, about 4 euros max to take you into the Old Town, otherwise a 45 minutes walk and only 10 euros from the airport. Although the hotel is situated on a beach, it's not a particularly fantastic beach and quite rocky on entrance to the sea, with a better beach either side of the hotel - either towards the New Town (by turning left outside the hotel) or by turning right when you walk outside the hotel and heading toward Matagorda. Unless yr a beach person, it didn't matter anyway as the pool was so nice to sit around. No fight for sunbeds and pleasant and peaceful by day with a snack bar serving good quality food and drink and reasonably priced, no need to go anywhere. For the more adventurous types of you, there is a daily entertainments programme to suit most people. Only draw back of the pool was that the pool was quite chilly but that wld be my only quibble. Overall hotel standard I thought was very high, very very clean, well maintained rooms and very good quality and vast choice of food. There are no set times to eat at dinner and obviously at peak times, it was quite busy, but no fault of staff, just over-influx of guests. During this time, some food might have run a little low and restaurant became quite noisy but if this would bother you, then just pick a different eating time. Staff seem more than pleasant during my stay, don't understand at all the moans on here, perhaps I was lucky as certainly didn't experience any negative service. Although this hotel had a nice range of guests staying, i.e. younger couples, a couple of friends here and there, a handful of parents with children, it is predominantely an 'older' clientele. However, although the balance is tipped more towards this age range, it still felt a nice mixture to me and at least it kept it quiet and peaceful, certainly isn't a 'rocking' hotel, go up to the New Town if this is more your thing. By day there is plenty to do in the area and feels very safe and relaxed to walk around. Plenty or little supermarkets, gift shops, eateries. Note that the perfume shops are much cheaper out here. The Old Town had a little commercial centre with branded shops such as The Body Shop, Zara, Mango and again, much cheaper. The Old Town also has a Marina where you can book sea activities. Overall a fantastic holiday with something for everyone, covering most budgets too. Think anyone from singles, to couples, to familes or friends or groups would have a good holiday here. Weather FANTASTIC too.
Appalling - No Way Returning.
I stayed at the San Antonio Hotel at the beginning of July - what a shocking stay this was. I could have had a better stay at the all inclusive aparatments down the road. Don't worry too much though because the sound of smashing plates in the restaurant will become normal after a few weeks. Did I forget to mention the staff's strike? Well if I did, then I'll tell you about it. The staff went on strike for 6 hours. They refused to serve anybody or talk to anybody and decided that having a fire drill during the strike (LEAVING US OUTSIDE FOR 4 HOURS.) Then, if things weren't bad enough, my husband got stuck in the lift. They left him there for 2 hours whilst they said an engineer was called. He was extremely traumatised and humiliated by the end of this experience especially when he was embarrassed by the hotel staff during the evening entertainment; which incidentally; was a disgrace. Also, the fact that they decided to evacuate the pools for 3 days due to some scare or another with a disease was disappointing. We were told that our baths were big enough if we were really bothered about it and we could go and swim around in there! THIS IS A SHOCKING HOTEL. DISGUSTING. Building works currently in progress atrocious. Finally, we were accused of causing a disturbance in the hotel because my husband got his leg stuck in one of the fences when playing with my young child. The best thing the hotel could do was get their 'co-operative' poolside staff to spray him with a hosepipe to try and then threaten to charge us for it. We are considering writing for compensation/taking legal action. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL.
loved lanzarote but !!!
just got back from hotel san antonio in lanzarote had a lovely holiday with my girlfriend and in general thought the hotel was lovely but we found the staff to be very unfriendly, unhelpful and not very polite at all especielly the restaurant staff who were terrible in our oppinion. we probably would return to san antonio but only if the staff improved alot. however the cleaning staff were very friendly always saying hello and smiling they were left a big tip but sorry nothing for the restaurant staff. lanzarote is ace and would give the hotel about 75% overall would have been 100% if staff would have been nicer. check out submarine dive and a great friendly bar called Diamond cocktail bar. lovely bar.... Paul & Andrea, Barnsley, yorks..
ace place
my wife and i have just returned after 2 week stay at hotel san antonio, hotel was great, rooms very comfortable, meals were very good plenty to choose from, staff were quite efficient, rooms cleaned every day. we would return again. good location too
Excellent
My wife and I have just spent a week in this hotel, rooms were very clean, staff excellent, could not be more helpfull, infact everything about this hotel was " EXCELLENT", but one week was JUST not long enough.
Hotel OK, restaurant disappointing
Recently (Oct 2004) returned from a 2-week stay at the San Antonio -- and will not be returning. Pros: the hotel is very clean and well situated, with a tranquil atmosphere. Cons: the restaurant is very disappointing, with staff who are, at least, unwelcoming. The variety and presentation of the buffet-style food was poor. We compared with similar 4-star hotels in the area, and they were in a completely different league. We complained after our first week to the hotel's PR person: she explained that the individual responsible for the restaurant was sick, and agreed that there could be a lack of management focus. However, matters did not improve in the second week. We spoke with another couple who told us that they had been coming to the San Antonio for 7 years: thay had noted a gradual deterioration and shared our views on the food. They too will not be returning...
