Kenilworth... Wellworth..................................................... it!
from Del6278
My wife and I stayed two nights to attend the wedding of an old comrade. Another old comrade and his wife stayed too, and I can honestly say it was fantastic value for money. I have stayed in some lovely hotels in my time, especially on business in Germany, but even compared to them you'd have to go a long way to find a more personable and friendly service. It isn't the Ritz, but for what you pay you get more than expected and the staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly. Don't be put off by previous reviews; the...

wedding night
from big4ndy
my wife and i stayed at this hotel on our wedding night and had a party of 4 staying in 2 seperate rooms for the same weekend and if i may speak for everyone who stayed the whole weekend was fantastic, the manager could not be more helpfull the rooms were so clean and highly presented the staff were very helpfull and polite, our room had the four poster bed which was scattered with roses and there was fresh strawberries waiting in a clean bowl also a box of chocolates and candels lit all over what an excellent end to a perfect day. the...

Weekend Away
from tunaphysh
I booked a double room for two nights with my girlfriend for a party weekend for her birthday. When we arrived it was a little hard to find the recption as it seems to be the restaurant bar as well! When we were taken up to the room there was a four poster bed and the room was in a good condition. The breakfast was a little limited, basically variation on a fry up, but the service from the manager and staff was really friendly. It was nice to be greeted by a spanish girl working in a spanish restaurant for once. I would stay here again as my...

Fantastic Hotel
from shanga67
Having previously read the reviews for this hotel i was already weary and not expecting much when staying here for a weekend away with my sister and 2 friends. However this hotel could not have been better! the staff very excellent, extremely welcoming and helpful. our room was clean and big enough for 4 of us to share. Thread bare carpets were not in sight and we were provided with clean towels each day. i have to say i was very impressed with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone who fancies a weekend away in Newcastle. i would...

More a hostel than a hotel
from AlVeston
We stayed the weekend of the great North Run, three of us, myself, my wife and my daughter. When we arrived it was clear that they had swapped our booking for a Triple Room to a double and squeezed an extra roll away in. When I challenged them on this, they admitted that the booking had been changed but nothing could be done about it now as our original room had been taken. Because it was the weekend of the Great North run there was nowhere else to stay within 50 miles so we had to accept this very unsatisfactory state of affairs.. Where to...

A Truly Terrible Hotel
from Jomotrip
Very disappointed with the standard of this hotel. the company I booked it through classed this as a 3 star hotel but it would be lucky to even get one star based on my experience. Initially our room bookings were completley wrong and thy tried to have 8 guys stuck into three rooms instead of 4, two of which had double beds! We had to really keep on at them before they changed this and the problems just kept coming. On arrival our room doors were still being painted as did most of the hotel, despite being given assurances that it...

Booked this hotel for hen weekend, first impression of bar and resturant was very nice thought we had cracked it,once through door to hotel it's a very different story, stair carpet's threadbare, luxury rooms (I THINK NOT) widowsill's filthy, bed's you would not let the most flea bitten dog sleep in, the smell of what only can be described as raw sewage, shower did not work and when reported still was not fixed all weekend, room's filthy, paper peeling off wall's,need i go on. If you are thinking of staying here think again...

Air of luxury & elegance!!(don't make me laugh)
from Jolene52
Their web site states "Air of luxury & elegance and the luxurious bedrooms" they must be joking. The rooms we stayed in were filthy the "en-suite" was black and it looked as if it had not seen a tin of paint for years. After writing a letter and telephoning three times I got some satisfaction but only I think because of the Restaurant/Bar Manager who I have to say was very good. Never again will I stay there
Once is enough

How this hotel can describe the rooms as 'luxury' is beyond me. They were very, very, basic. Poor lighting and inferior bedding. Not very clean carpet. Miserable bits of soap and no shampoo etc. Breakfast was good in the newly refurbished bar area. The manager was very friendly and apologetic but to be honest, it just was not good enough.
Unprofessional
from A TripAdvisor Member
I booked 3 rooms in this hotel for a sporting event taking place in Sunderland, and two weeks prior to the event, they rang me to say there was a problem with the booking, they were worried because it was an all male party of six. We were then left with a real struggle to find accomodation so close to the date of the event. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

Did not have chance to stay at this hotel as telephone booking was not honured and had to find a hotel for 10 person weeding party at last minute in August, nice one! Would recommend a tent
