Great Hotel
We stayed at Las Palapas in January and loved it. Our room was clean and quiet. The beach was beautiful and peaceful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent! We are recommending it to friends and family and would stay here again!
very enjoyable
After staying at an AI the previous week and a hotel in town, while walking along the beach we stumbled apon this hotel. Very pleasant, nice people, great breakfast, not so great dinner, excellent lunch burgers (weird). No fighting for a beach chair, and quiet! They have small jungle walk and we saw beautiful butterflies and two spider monkeys which we became obsessed with finding again. We were the happiest on our trip here and would go again.
Paradise found!
Just returned from a far too short stay at this wonderful beachfront resort. As soon as we pulled up, we knew we had found something special. The grounds were absolutely beautiful. The staff greeted us warmly and immediately took our luggage and took the time to explain where everything was located on the grounds. We were shown to our room and again received an explanation of how everything in the room worked. The staff was international. OUr room was a garden view one and was located in one of the many thatched huts dispersed among... more
Las palapas
We have just got back from spending 7 nights at Las Palapas hotel. As we booked late we had to pay extra for a deluxe garden view room but were glad we did when we got there as these are more secluded and in the prettier garden part. The rooms are beginning to look a bit worn but I would say the price is fair in comparison with other resorts in Playa del Carmen. The breakfasts are very good with a varied selection of hot and cold items. The beach outside the hotel was the best in comparison with the rest in PDC. The only drawback to the... more
Perfect long weekend
We stayed at Las Palapas for three days at the start of April. The hotel was exactly what we wanted: quiet, but not boring, quaint, and hospitable. The landscaping was beautiful, the beach was gorgeous, the breakfast was great (fruit, little Mexican pastries, hot dishes like enchiladas and quesadillas, bacon, hash browns, made-to-order omelets, fresh juice - I could go on and on). We ate lunch at the clubhouse and it was very tasty, too. I don't know what dinner was like because we ate in town every night. And, I have to say, they made... more
Las Palapas-secluded paradise
Although this was our first trip to Las Palapas, my parents have visited there yearly for the past three years. The resort is an eco paradise, meaning the rooms are rustic. But if you are looking for a small, uncrowded, and peaceful resort of this kind, LP is the place to go! We requested our top story bungalow #33 via email with a fridge, and were pleased to receive this room upon check in. As with all of Mexico, the beds are hard, but we loved the tropical yet simple room decor. The staff members are very friendly. The grounds are... more
Just Back from Las Palapas
Just returned from 3 nights at Las Palapas. The grounds are fairly nice, though they probably could be kept up a little better. The room was spotless, yet it also needs some updating. The ceiling fan wobbled so much we were afraid to keep it on! Some of the sheets and towels were worn through, one of our lampshades had a hole in it, and our curtain rod was missing a finial, which meant that every time we wanted to open or shut the curtains, we needed to stand on a chair to make sure the whole thing didn't come crashing down. If we had... more
Las Palapas - great atmosphere, few small problems
We stayed at Las Palapas for one night at the end of January while scouting locations for our wedding. The GOOD - the grounds of the hotel have a very cool jungle feel. lots of mature landscaping with native trees and plants, some even labeled with educational signs. peaceful ambiance, nice beach. room was spacious with nice porch. room felt secluded and private. breakfast was tasty - a large buffet with nice selection of fruit, cereal, rolls, and hot food along with an omelett chef. front desk staff was friendly.... more
Mosquitoes!!
The Yucatan and Las Palapas Hotel was a week-long alternative to the trip we had planned to Egypt in October of 2001, which was canceled by the Trafalger tour company. Having no idea what the weather would be like, we flew into Cancun, rented a car, and headed for Playa del Carmen. Our hosts and their employees at Las Palapas couldn't have been nicer, and the tropical setting on the beach was absolutely lovely. The food (sumptuous buffets) was stupendous and there was plenty of it. The nightly entertainment was fun and highly... more
Wonderful Location
CHECK-IN Check-in at the hotel was simple. We were given our room key, the safe deposit box key, and 2 beach towels (which you can exchange daily for clean ones). We also had to sign a slip so they could verify our signature. When you eat at the restaurants or order from the bar, you sign a slip and it’s charged back to your room. After completing the paperwork, an attendant then took our bags and led us to our room. THE ROOM We stayed in #2 – a beachfront bungalow. The bungalow was nice and rustic. I did not make... more
