Sol Cala DOr Apartments
Situated in a superb location close to the beach, the Sol Cala d'Or complex has recently undergone a thorough refurbishment. With good food on-site, a friendly atmosphere and a variety of activities for children, this complex is a popular choice. Due to the number of steps in the hotel, it is not suitable for the less mobile.

We travelled as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children and had a fantastic holiday will definately go back to cala d'or and to the sol apartments. The staff at the Sol were great very friendly and great with the children to esp Roberto and Miguel. As we were self catering we would nearly always walk up to the square and eat at Cheers where Paul and his staff were fab the food was spot on and the kids always got a free ice lolly after there meal and we got a free drink after our meal. I would highly reccomend a trip to Cheers for food.
We would then walk up to the carabel where it is buy one get one free on all drinks even cocktails i would reccomend the coco loco, they have karaoke and all soaps and football on there big tvs the staff at the carabel are also very friendly and great with the kids doing macarena with them. I would also try the Duke of Devonshire there breakfasts are lovely and the have a small play area for the kids at the back keeping them entertained while waiting for there food. Another must see is madonna at Eden Paradise she was fantastic sounded just like her and her dancing was great.
The best beach we went to was the cala gran the cleanest by far we went to the cala ferera and it was dirty the water smelled disgusting. We didnt want to come home everyone was so friendly and helpful the best holiday we have had so far.

Me & my boyfriend stayed in these apartments for one week & to be honest I wasn't expecting much from some of these reviews. However this turned out to be one of the best holidays we had been on due to the apartments being located right in the centre of Cala D'or.
The rooms were spacious & clean & the staff were all friendly. The pool area was big enough & it was actually an advantage having to pay for the sun loungers as it meant if you got up late (around 11am) there were still plenty of beds left. We preferred to go up onto the roof where there were free sunbeds & a jacuzzi, it was lovely & quiet up there as not many people bothered to go up there.
The centre of Cala D'or is much bigger than we expected & great if you go self catering as there's plenty of choice & all reasonably priced. Our favourite bar to drink in was actually the Hollywood karaoke bar which was just over the road from our hotel. People have complained about the noise but what do you expect really when you choose a hotel right in the centre of Cala D'or!? The Hollywood bar also closed at midnight every night anyway, apart from when Spain won the Euro which was a great night with everyone celebrating & going mad!
All in all this holiday was really good & I would definitely go back or recommend these apartments. Don't listen to the reviews full of people moaning about nothing!

Just returned from these apartments/Studio and I must say we had a great time. Our studio was very big and clean we had towel changes every two days and bedding changed twice a week, if you required more towel changes all you had to do leave your towels on the floor and the maids would change them. We stayed at these studios last July as well and I was pleased that my comments seemed to be taken on board, last year I said that it would be nice for the pool bar to be available all afternoon and not close at three. This year the pool bar closed at 7pm so you were able to get a snack at 4pm if required (day off Tuesday). I must say that all the breakfasts and snacks that we had were very good and a good potion. The square is the place to go at night for your drinks and evening meal the restuarants are excellant we still have not been to many of them and this is our 3rd year running to Cala Dor. The beaches are great and the Marina is a great place to go for a day off from sunbathing. There are many different beaches you can go to that are a short walk from this hotel that is one reason why we picked it as it is very central to all parts of the resort.
Back to the hotel I actually think it is a really good idea to pay for your sunbeds as you can come and go as you please without the fear that someone will remove your towels. Looking at the other comments I think that some people were disappointed but Cala Dor does not really open up until end of May we found the staff very pleasant as always and they remembered us from last year (thanks Pedro for our bottle of champers and note nice touch) all staff made us very welcome and yes we know about the noise but you just have to be aware that if you are near any bars they can be noisy up until midnight and it is nice to stroll back at this time of evening.

booked this holiday 3 days before going for 2 adults and 2 kids(5 and 14).The apartments were very clean and tidy and food was ok but there are lots of resturants in the area to choose from. The pool was great and the kids loved it but you had to pay 2 euro per sunbed a day.As we were leaving on a an evening flight the reception supplys you with a key which has access to a large luggage room with ajoining male and female shower facilitys with powerpoints for hairdryer ect. this was a great help. The staff were friendly and helpful.I would recomend these appts for a reasonable fun family holiday.

These apartments and the resort were fantastic. The holiday was a late booking and although I have been to Majorca several times before, never to Cala D'Or.
The apartments were brill, I think the best we've stayed in. The accommodation was spotless, the staff very helpful and the location to the beach and the lovely restaurants couldn't have been better. The apartments were very spacious, we even had a bedroom upstairs with the biggest double bed I've ever seen! There was a lovely mixture of couples, young families and some teenagers with their parents but not groups of teenagers running riot, a very nice relaxing base.
The beach (Cala Gran) was just down the road and from there you can jump on the glass bottom boat for a tour of other resorts or if you prefer the pool it was lovely, always a lifeguard on duty and never too crowded or noisy. I can't comment on the price or availability of the sunbeds as my husband and I never used them.
When you stepped outside the apartments there was such a variety of bars, restaurants and the marina was only about 10 mins walk and worth seeing. The restaurants were reasonably priced and also very clean and the staff friendly. There were also ATM machines everywhere which was convenient.
Overall a brilliant holiday, hotel and weather perfect. We'll definitely go there again and my only regret is not going there when my sons were young as this is definitely a great place for families as well as couples.

Me and my boyfriend just came back from staying at the Sol Cala D'or apartments, we were looking for cheap deal and only booked a month before going, so wasn't expecting the apartments to be up to much.
We were plesently surprised on arrival, as the hotel looked clean. Our apartment was basic but had all that we needed (fridge, ketle, plates etc...) although we intended to eat out every night. We were happy with the overall cleaniness of the apartment as maid came with fresh towells and bedding every other day.
Pool was very nice and spacious, and had a lifegaurd there all day. Sun loungers were a bit of a pain as there was a charge of 2 euros a bed.
Overall apartments were nice although we felt that they added the extra cost on, we had to pay 48 euros for our room for an extra day due to our departure at early hours, which we were not happy about as this was the only option they did not provide anywhere to shower or to even keep our suitcases. We felt this was a major downside to the apartments.
Definately will be returning to Cala D'or again hopefully next year had a brill holiday!!! we were spoilt for choice with resturants and bars, beaches were also beautiful!!, would recommend Cala D'or to anybody saw loads of young couples, families, and older couples, there was something for everybody.
Thomas Cook was ok wouldn't jmup at the chance to go with them again. Rep at apartments was helpful, although wasn't there all the time, rep on our departure was awful really rude, moody and not helpful at all!!!

me and my family have just returned from a sleepless two weeks holiday at the sol cala'dor. had read before leaving that these apartments were near to a karaoke bar and could be quite noisy until midnight which i thought wouldnt be too bad, how wrong was i!!!! in two weeks we didnt have a single full nights sleep, doors and furniture banging alnight long, cars racing back and to at all hours and lots of inconsiderate guests partying into the early hours which is fine if the sol cala dor wasnt a family hotel!!! unfortunately my other big problem with the hotel was that closure of the kids club that thomas cook failed to notify us of, we booked this hotel because it sounded so family orientated, but my kids who are 4 and 8 were very bored by the second week, especially when the weather was poor!!!!
overall i found cala dor itself to be a pleasent town, bars and restaurants were good, except for the pirate, which charges 4 euros for a childrens orange!!!

Just returned from a 2 week break at the Sol Cala D'Or. We booked this hotel because it had a kids club for our 8 and 4 year olds and it said there was weekly bbq evenings etc.
First of all, very disappointed with Thomas Cook. From arriving in to the chaos that is check in at Manchester Airport to getting the coach transfer at the other side they were hopeless. Have not travelled with them before but wont be doing again.
The kids club had been closed down and the alternative being offered was in another hotel 20 mins away. Had we wanted to use that hotels facilities we would have booked in there. We were not informed that the kids club was no longer available. The kids were bored all day long in the cold pool, the only other entertainment was the sandpit/play area, but that was out of site of the pool and the sand was dirty and stained the kids clothes.
Also, I would compare trying to sleep at the Sol Cala D'Or to trying to sleep in Euston Station. It was so noisy all night long. If it wasnt noise from the surrounding karaoke bars, it was doors slamming, chairs scraping, people in the pool at 3am screaming and just other inconsiderate holiday makers (mostly brits) in general.
To be fair to the Sol Cala D'Or, the rooms were clean and serviced regularly and the beer was cold (if not a bit expensive).
Cala D'Or itself is quite nice and the beaches, especially Cala Esmerelda are beautiful.

After reading other reviews about these apartments we were really looking forward to our holiday. When we arrived the apartment looked nice and clean and was a good size, although it was raining we still thought yes this will be a nice relaxing break. How wrong we were I have never stayed anywhere that was so noisy at night. You expect a bit of noise, from bars etc but this is was far to excessive. In two whole weeks we only got one good night's sleep. The bottle bank was situated at the rear of the hotel and most night's at times between 0.00 - 1.30 AM was being used. There was a karoke bar across a park which was also very noisy.
I also noted other people had said how friendly the reception staff were - well they must of all left and been replaced by three very unhelpful and rude ladies.
Overall the resort was ok - the highlight a little bistro called the Dumpling run by an English from couple up north!!!!! Also the Italian ice cream parlour across the bridge was superb. Other than that I wouldn't bother going here again.
Oh and by the way Palma airport is a joke - total confussion when we arrived and departed. Thomas Cook did not look after us at all and I would recommend you travel with Thompson's.

We booked this holiday through Sunshine.co.uk about 10 weeks before we went. We were looking for a cheap getaway and this certainly was cheap. £150 each! Bargain.
We wanted to go to Majorca but knew that as we wanted a cheap deal, we couldn't be to choosy about the resort, however we were hoping we could find a good deal to Cala D'or as we were quite keen to go there.
Luckily we stumbled across this deal to the Sol Cala D'or apartments. As we were only paying £150 each a for a week we didn't have high expectations but were pleasantly surprised to find that the Sol Cala D'or apartments were great.
Situated only a 5 minute stroll from all the bars and restaurants of Cala D'or and a 10 minute stroll to beach these apartments were clean and well equipped with a large pool and sun terrace. All apartments have air conditioning (which you don't have to pay extra for!).
There is a TV that has 4 UK channels (that's a rarity!) which I think was about €12 for a week for hire of the TV remote, and there is an in room safe.
We were really impressed with the little 'extras' like the TV having UK channels, free air con and most importantly, complimentary full sized bottles of shampoo and shower gel! We went self catering and the apartment was very well equipped in that regard, with Kettle, Toaster, fridge, hob and oven/grill, and of course all your plates, bowls and cutlery etc.
There is a supermarket right next door and a few bars and cafes immediately opposite.
Basically everything you need is right on your doorstep. The staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The only slightly negative points would be that you have to pay for the sunbeds (€2 per day) and the pool is not heated. So unless you've got scorching hot sun all day the pool is a tad nippy!
But, if you're looking for a reasonably priced holiday in a good resort we really can't recommend these apartments and of course the resort of Cala D'or enough.

Me and my boyfriend spent 1 week in Cala D'Or at the Sol Cala D'Or apartments, and it was by far the best holiday which both of us have had, the weather were also very nice. We were with Thomas cook who were very friendly and helpful.
We decided to go self catering; all the restaurants were lovely and were at good prices. We have been a lot of places in Majorca/Mallorca but found Cala dor to be the best.
We were looking for a quiet and friendly atmosphere and definitely found this here. where we stayed was centred right in the middle of everything including the Cala gran beach.
In Cala D'Or there are a lot of relaxing bars, cocktail bars, and restaurants along with day and night entertainment.
I would say Cala D'Or is for couples and families there is plenty to do such as boat trips into other coves of Cala D'or and other little towns.
The beaches were lovely and clean and everyone is friendly, we will definitely be going back shortly and I recommend this holiday to family and couples who are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday at a suitable price.

Stayed there for two weeks with my wife and 2 year old, so we were not up till all hours getting drunk like we used to.
So when we would return to the apts about 9.30 10.00pm we were met by a wall of karaoke music coming from the bar over the road, I am not joking it was so loud that we got little or no sleep for two weeks.
When we asked to be moved to a quieter room she said that there isn’t any quiet rooms they are all noisy.
Apts are grubby, staff are ignorant, and I couldn’t wait to leave.
The plus side is Cala D'Or is quite simply beautiful.

Me and my husband have just returned from 2wks at these apartments and we had a great time the apartments were cleaned every 2nd day and the pool area and surroundings was cleaned every day.
The staff were really friendly especially the barmen Roberto and Harry, they were really friendly. There was plenty of good places around for eating and plenty of bars as well.
We went most nights to Tropical Gardens which was just down the road and had live entertainment on tribute bands. Would recommend these apartments to anyone and we hope to go back next year.

Just returned from Sol Cala D'Or Apartments after a week's holiday with family - kids are 11 & 16 - they loved the place!
It's definitely good, safe & friendly for families. Maybe take a lighter buggy if you've got young kids! There was noise from the karaoke bar but as posted it does close promptly. Didn't see gangs of drunken brit teenagers and those at the football bar nearby were well behaved & friendly.
We didn't expect too much from the apartment as we'd made a really late booking. We were very surprised to get exactly the room type we'd asked for - quiet, sunny with balcony & on the top floor. Spacious, clean apartment with small but well stocked kitchen. Good linen & beds & lots of towels.
We weren't into lying on the loungers cooking & spending all day at the hotel, but it was very funny to watch the morning competition for the loungers anyway.
Car hire was fantastic value - we got to see lots of the island. Also made a point of going to quieter beaches, especially those used by the Spanish as a change from the busier touristy beaches. Food & drink much better value too.
Not our usual type of holiday - pleasantly surprised!
