Sol Cala DOr Apartments, Cala D'Or
Situated in a superb location close to the beach, the Sol Cala d'Or complex has recently undergone a thorough refurbishment. With good food on-site, a friendly atmosphere and a variety of activities for children, this complex is a popular choice. Due to the number of steps in the hotel, it is not suitable for the less mobile.

We found the hotel to be adequate overall but the rooms were quite cramped for 2 adults and 2 children. The service at the bar was slow and bar staff appeared disinterested. The room, pool, and hotel generally were very clean. Having to queue for sunbeds every morning is a real pain.
The hotel was in an ideal location within easy walking distance to good restaurants and pubs. There were steps but there was almost always a ramp available to use for prams. The children's disco and entertainment at the Tropical Gardens is superb, although the drinks are pricey.
I would recommend the resort to families, but the Sol apartments are quite small.

We were put here for 2 days as our hotel was overbooked. I was pleased I was going to a Sol hotel because I stayed at the Sol de Alcudia a few years ago and it was beautiful. This hotel was not as impressive.
It was like stepping into Benidorm, everyone British everywhere. British kids running screaming around the pool. People sitting round reading British newspapers, ordering beers etc.
Didn't try the pool but it looked ok. Our room overlooked the pool but was a maze to get to it, around a 10 minute walk before you got out of the complex.
Best thing about this hotel was that it was in a good location for evening entertainment, with lots of (British) bars around. It was a bit of a walk to the beach, but not far.
Rooms were very small and dark studios but they had everything you needed- toaster kettle full oven and hob aircon etc. Beds were comfy.
We have just got back from Cala...

We have just got back from Cala Do'r and we felt it was over rated. The apartments are luck or no luck if you get a room facing the pool your ok but there are only a few that are facing the pool the other sites are the lively street or the back facing the bins.
You have to be up very early to get a sun bed and have to pay 2 euros for them. The beach is very packed and small and the drinks food and everything else is very expensive.
They say it is for families but I had to carry my baby's pram up and down everywhere and there are a few hills the apartments its self isn’t catered for prams either.
I would not recommend any one to go here and I would not go back.

Faultless. Good location, friendly staff, restaurant cheaper than and as good as any in resort and there’s loads to choose from.
Karaoke bars nearby, but they stop on the stroke of midnight as does all outside noise, maybe it’s a bylaw, anyway we slept soundly every night.
We prefer the beach, and there’s a choice of two nearby, but getting sun beds wouldn’t have been a problem and the hotel was full.
No one tried to force a scratch card on us or tried to drag us into a bar or restaurant the entire week and we didn’t miss the stag / hen parties and drunks that you see elsewhere on the island.
All in all a great resort for couples or those with toddlers looking to relax, but not so good for families with teenagers and far too grownup for single sex groups.

I have just returned today from a 1 week stay at these apartments. I took my daughter for a week’s relaxation before her graduation and we absolutely loved it.
The apartment itself was excellent, everything you need is there, and it is very clean and well maintained (as is the whole apartment area).
The staff are very friendly and helpful; our toilet stopped flushing and was fixed within half an hour.
The resort of Cala D'Or is wonderful, absolutely beautiful and we would both highly recommend it to families and couples. Also, as females alone, we always felt completely safe.
The representatives from My Travel who looked after the needs of various companies were also very friendly and helpful. The local restaurants were terrific and we don't have one complaint about the food or staff.
It really was an amazing week’s break.

I have stayed with my partner at this Hotel over the last 10 or so years off and on and can not say how courteous the staff and management have been to us, we have had a bottle of wine and a lovely card left in our room on several occasions as they must have looked at my partners passport and found out it was his birthday.
It is the little things that have made our stay always special. The location is ideal for our needs and have always stayed on a self catering basis .if we have ate in we found the food very good . Once again thank you to all the staff and Management and not forgetting the night porter who has been there for many years for always making our holiday special without being intrusive.

We have just returned from a 1 week holiday in Cala D’Or. This is our 5th holiday in Cala D’Or!
We stayed at the Sol Cala D’Or apartments for the 2nd time. Our 2 children aged 15 and 13 want to go back again next year! They love it and so do we! The apartments are clean, spacious and all the staff are very friendly. It's the perfect resort for families and couples.
I would highly recommend the Sol Cala D’Or apartments to anyone!

Just had a fab holiday at these apartments. As with other comments, I wouldn't hesitate in booking them again. They were very clean and well equipped. The pool was great for the children and the bar / snack bar area provided all we needed during the day i.e. drinks & ice cream.
We didn't actually have any meals there, but many people did & they looked good. Paying for the sun beds is a bit of a pain, but we found that there are free sun beds on the roof terrace which also has a Jacuzzi.
This area is quite quiet & great to come back to for the last couple of hours of sun if you've perhaps been out during the day. The resort itself is great and this was our second visit. Our highlight of the day was deciding where to eat on a night time. (We still have plenty of places to try!) I'm sure we will return in the future.

We have just returned from our holiday and we would definitely go back again. The apartments were spotless and the staff were friendly.
My youngest son was ill and the cleaners came and changed all the bedding and towels, nothing was too much trouble. The staff at the bar were really efficient and friendly. Cala D’Or itself is very good as we went self catering there were many restaurants and bars. In the 14 nights we were there we did not have a bad meal. We went to the pirate show in Magaluf it was expensive, but it was fantastic and well worth the visit.
The beach which was only a couple of minutes away was quite crowded but clean and lovely the sea was clear and warm. The downside were the beds by the pool which were 2E each. But altogether we all had a great holiday, definitely recommended!
This is our second time at the...

This is our second time at the Sol this year and we are due to go back for a few days in October. Rarely do I ever go anywhere more than once so this speaks for itself.
Efficient friendly staff, super-clean complex. Just the right size for kids to go and splash in the pool on their own or have a game of table-tennis.
We were remembered it seems as a bottle of fizz turned up in our room on the third day welcoming us back. What a lovely touch!
Great location as really close to everything but I wasn't aware of any late-night noise to disturb my beauty sleep.
Downsides are having to pay for sun-beds(rip-off) and hire of TV remote. Ok for us but kids like the option.
Will return many more times I hope.

We have never returned to the same place more than once but this was our second visit to these apartments and we were so impressed we took our friends with us this year. We also recognized 5 other families from the previous year which I think speaks for its self.
The apartments are clean and big enough for a family of four, the only down side is no hair dryer but you can hire them.
We had breakfast included this year which was excellent as they let you pick what ever you fancy from the menu.
Its a small complex mostly English guests, the staff are very friendly and are happy to help if they can. Cala D’Or is the most child friendly resort I have ever visited and the bars and restaurants welcome you with open arms.
The children’s club is well run but the daytime games didn't seem quite so good this year.
Worst thing about these apartments is the fact that you have to pay for sun beds - this is supposed to stop people reserving them but it doesn't work - its just a money making racket.
Overall you can not beat this place we love it! Thinking of trying mainland Spain next year but a little worried it won't be able to compete with calla D’Or.

We have stayed at these apartments for the last four years and are due to go again this weekend (June 06) for a fortnight, making it five years on the run. I think this speaks for itself, the apartments are clean and spacious, staff incredibly friendly and helpful (putting us British to shame) and the location is ideal. The apartments are surrounded by restaurants, shops etc but is never too noisy.
Although we always go self catering, we have eaten in the restaurant and the food is good. Our daughter is always kept entertained and the pool area is the perfect size to be able to keep a eye on her at all times. Cleaners come in regularly and are both trustful and friendly (its worth noting just how hard they work).
At Christmas we get a Christmas Card from the hotel and my partner got a birthday card this year also. The staff always seem happy to go that bit extra to help you. I would not hesitate in recommending these apartments to anyone.

We have just returned from a good weeks holiday in this complex, they are clean and have aircon in the bedroom as well as the lounge. The apartments can be a little dark as they all have shutters on the outside of the windows but this keeps the rooms cool in the height of the day.
The only downside were that you have to pay to use the TV Remote Control at 6 Euros which is refundable at the end of your holiday and 2 euros for each sun bed per day. Also the pool is heated by the sun as it may be very chilly at times, however the apartments are very Environmental aware and have information for guests to be aware of.
The staff are friendly and the apartments are located in a great part of the town. The Kids club also runs each day except Sunday and a mini disco is on each night for them which is run by two super girls. Entertainment for the adults is put on each night although this can range from a Quiz to magic shows.
We were there when they had poor weather and I found it very difficult to get a pullover so remember to pack one as the weather is very unpredictable this year.

We took our 20 month old Grandson to this Aparthotel & we all had a great Holiday. The Apartment was cosy & clean. We didn't eat in the Restaurant so I can't comment. The pool was clean & there was just enough sun beds for everyone.
At night, entertainment was provided & it was possible to sit on your own balcony, "or in our case Garden" watch the entertainment & drink our own alcohol without going to the bar & paying the Hotels prices.
Cala D'Or is a great family holiday location.
PS. Staff very friendly!
Excellent holiday apartments...

Excellent holiday apartments fantastic for families with young children. Right in the centre to reach all attractions. Two minutes one way to shops, bars etc and two minutes the other way to the small coves. The only problem with the beach is that because they are coves the get really packed in high season.
Next door to the apartment is a spar which sells everything and the rooms themselves are very clean with everything that you need in them. Whilst we were there we noticed that before new guests arrived all paint work was re painted in white so the place looks clean all the time.
Very helpful staff to accommodate a four month old baby and late room availability was great.
