Beautiful Bardolino
from emmanicolaliam
We have just returned from this wonderful hotel and only wish we had stayed longer. There was nothing to fault at the hotel or Bardolino itself. Bardolino is a short stroll down the lake promenade which is reached from a gate at the hotel, there being plenty of ducks and swans along the lake. It is a very pretty town with a good variety of shops and eating places -that is if you have any room for food after the fantastic hotel food. The accomodation was first class as was the food at all mealtimes, we dined in the gourmet restaurant one evening which was very enjoyable. Our bedroom balcony overlooked the central courtyard which was lovely to sit out on. All staff were very friendly and helpful. The excursions we went on were very good-one to Venice for the day and another to the opera in Verona. Mealtimes are flexible as you can change your evening meal to lunch time if going on evening excursion and take an early breakfast if an early morning start is needed. We would definately recommend this hotel so do not hesitate in choosing the Parc Hotel Gritti ! We will definately be returning.
Wonderful
from JanEcre
We have just returned from the Parc Hotel Gritti and it was absolutely wonderful. The Hotel is only a short stroll along the lakeside to the beautiful resort of Bardolino with its cobbled streets and numerous bars and restaurants. You can also walk in either direction along the lakeside to the towns of Garda and Lazise both 5 kilometers or you can take the ferry for only 1.50 euros. Bardolino has a ferry stop where you can get boats all over the lake. If you decide to go to Limone don't just take the ferry as it takes about 2 hours. Get the bus to Malcesine and then take the ferry over the lake. It is much shorter and cheaper. The Parc Hotel Gritti is spotlessly clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has 4 restaurants and the food is excellent. Do try the Gormet restaurant - if you don't you are missing out on a real treat. We had a wonderful week and hopefully will return very soon. We would definately recommend this hotel.
Loved Bardolino and the Hotel Parc Gritti
from Raymondo36
Just returned from Bardolino which to us was the prettiest area on the Lake. The hotel was excellent, staff friendly and efficient. No complaints whatsoever. We did wonder about the Dining Room being all Buffet Service but the food was very good, plenty of choice and as much or as little as you wanted. Would certainly return.
Loved Bardolino!

We returned from Hotel Gritti on Saturday, 14th May. Had a really lovely relaxing week. The Hotel was excellent, although some parts were starting to look a little shabby. The food was very good and the staff were very friendly. Ladies - please take a hairdryer with you - the ones in the hotel room are pretty useless - my only complaint. We are very likely to return to this hotel as it's location is superb. Bardolino, we thought, was by far the prettiest part of the Lake. The weather was on the whole very good whilst we were away, although it can get quite chilly in the mornings and evenings, so definitely take a cardi! We did also have one day of rain, and as the area is very lush and green, I'm sure the area is inclined to have showers. If we do visit the Hotel again, I probably wouldn't bother to pay for the balcony as even the view of the central courtyard wasn't particularly spectacular and we were more inclined to sit in the lovely piazza and pool areas before getting ready in the evening.
Our First Trip to the Italian Lakes

This hotel was recommended to us by friends. The position, by the lakeside is wonderful and only a short walk to the centre of the pretty village of Bardolino with its many restaraunts, cafes + wine bars. Ideal for sitting + watching the day go by whilst sampling the local wines, most relaxing. The hotel itself was very clean, would recommend a room with balcony overlooking the central gardens. We booked half board, the meals were good quality, varied + there was plenty of choice but with all buffet style presentations the meals were not always as hot as we would have liked. The wine in the restaraunt was excellant + was good value at £8.50/bottle, draught beer was good but was £3.00/500cl. The average age of the guests was probably around 60+ NOT a young persons hotel. We took a bus tour around the lake + decided that Bardolino was by far the prettiest of the villages. Riva to the north was very disappointing although the scenary is very dramatic + worth a visit, we would not recommend staying in that area. Sirmione to the south was very nice + steeped in history but is a very busy tourist attraction + gets very crowded. The holiday was most enjoyable + the days seemed to fly by (could have had something to do with the very palatable local vinyard produce). Would definately recommend this hotel.
Large, spacious hotel with excellent facilities

Beautiful hotel rooms with good facilities. Nightly entertainment and dancing at the cafe/bar by the outdoor pool area- ends by 11.00 pm so as not to disturb guests. Excellent gymnasium and indoor pool. Fantastic outdoor pool, sun-heated, with plenty of sunloungers and sunshades for everyone. Beautiful mosaic of waterlillies on bottom of pool (not algae as reported by earlier writer) and pool cleaned, filtered and freshly topped up every night. Huge restaurant buffet at every meal - a shame that main courses are in unheated tureens and vegetables left in large china serving dishes on counter - so always cold unless just delivered. Same at breakfast with scrambled eggs etc. One downside for us was that there is a steep flight of steps to get up to Reception from the driveway and this was very difficult with our heavy cases - no porters appeared to be available. Hotel has a lovely setting near to the little beaches on the Lake and has possible long walks along the Lake in both directions. Bardolino is a beautiful town and is a haven for anyone who likes ducks.
Excellent hotel but should be classed for 40+ age range

We are just back from our trip to Parc Hotel Gritti, Bardolino and felt I needed to leave a review as all previous ones that I had read seemed to differ quite a bit. We thought that this was an excellent hotel. Check in was very quick, the receptionist spoke perfect English. They were also very informative. On arrival at the room there was a bottle of mineral water, bottle of sparkling wine and a bowl of fruit. There was also a mini bar, tea+ coffee facilities, bathrobes, slippers and a tv (which does have a few english channels and also an english film is shown everynight approx 9pm). Our room had a balcony (237) directly in the centre overlooking the gardens and the aviarys. Beautiful view. The food and the choice of food at this hotel was simply EXCELLENT. There are also quite a few choices of where to eat, when to eat and you have the option of getting breakfast delivered to your room for 3 euro supplement. Very friendly and helpful staff and choice of wines was commendable. There was nightly entertainment on singers etc. I feel at this point i have to state this hotel should be published as 40+ hotel. Myself + my husband are 24 and the entertainment was definately not our cup of tea. The hotel is directly on the Lake and there are 2 gates behind the swimming pool which give you direct access to the promenade. It is only a 5min stroll to the centre of Bardolino where you will find lovely cafes, bars and restaurants. There is also a ferry point (which sadly we didnt have time to try). I would also recommend the trip to Venice the trip cost 49 euro each and there was additional options of gondola ride (highly recommended although a bit hairy at times also very smelly) which was 15 euro per person and also a panoramic boat ride which lasts 1hr and costs 11 euro per person; also highly recommended. In the hotel there is 2 swimming pools one indoor and outdoor. There are lots of sunbeds around the pool. There is also a small stall at the side of the pool to save you walking to the shops it sells newspapers/ books etc. Good idea as we couldnt find the nearest newsagents. There is a gym and an internet point (3 euro for 20min). Another bonus of the hotel is the afternoon tea that is free and available everyday at 4pm. The hotel is exceptionally clean. I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone over 40. We would definately return, maybe once we have retired!
Excellent Hotel

All staff were extremely polite & courteous. Food was excellent, with lots of choice. Eating arrangements on half board were also flexible, you could miss dinner & substitue it with lunch instead. Everywhere was clean and beautifully decorated. Ideally located for both Bardolino (about a 3 minute walk away) and the lake is just across a narrow, quiet road. Garda is also within a 40-50 minute stroll away. Boats & buses a plenty, boat boarding point & bus depot within a 5 minute walk away. Well worth paying extra for a balcony, ideally with a view of the beautiful inner courtyard, which also boasts 2 bird aviaries & a water feature! Room was large & clean, with well-equipped bathroom, doors onto the balcony, kettle, tv & air con. Complimentary mineral water, sparkling wine & bowl of fruit on arrival, with the fruit being replenished on a daily basis. Visited Verona & Venice, out of the many trips available. Would definitely recommend Venice. There is also a large market on Thursday's until 1pm, just at the rear of the hotel. Nightly entertainment in the hotel & in Bardolino, such as choirs/orchestras etc. in peak season. Will most probably go back to this hotel in the future, and use it as a base to visit some of the other towns on the lake.
Excellent holiday & Hotel

I have not been on holiday to Italy before, very relaxing and clean. The Hotel is excellent, the food was good and plentiful. The staff were helpful. The location is also good as it is easy to get around either by boat or bus. Will more than likely go back next year to explore further as there is so much to see.
Almost a nice stay

The Parc Gritti just about made the 4 stars. For some reason the coaches drop off and pick up in the basement of the hotel. You then have to hunt about to find a lift to the reception. This dosen't give a good first impression of the hotel. The room was adequate and had a bottle of sparkling wine and a bottle of water to welcome you. The swimmimg pool area did not resemble any of the brochure pictures. The vegetation had obviously grown, preventing any circulation of air from the lake. The sun beds where so tightly packed together it was hard to avoid touching the person next to you when you moved. We found the Lido opposite the hotel much more comfortable. The bar and entertainment area was not very impressive. On the up side, the food, service and most of the staff were very satisfactory. The hotel location was excellent, just across the road from the lake and a short walk to the centre of Bardolino.
