Vale Del Rei Suite

Bit of a late review, but better late than never... We spent 6 nights in Vale del Rei in June 2008 and had absolutely fabulous time. The place is new, comfortable, very clean and well designed. It is surrounded by olive groves (I think, some kind of groves anyway) and vineyards as well as some villas. One very important thing to mention: CAR IS A MUST. What a fantastic time we had. My husband and i thoroughly enjoyed a 5 night break in this lovely hotel. The room was perfect ,comfortable and clean. the maids came everyday to replace the towels, change the sheets and generally tidy the room. The pool area was always kept clean. with towels provided. We were on a b&b stay ,the breakfasts were continental with a good selection but the hot food could have been hotter. In this case, looks are certainly not deceiving. This was a fab choice of hotel at short notice - and we think it's a little gem of a place. Woke up Friday, booked by lunchtime (based on trip advisor and other website reviews), arrived in the Algarve the next day. The deal offered on expedia was so good, we both thought the hotel might not live up to expectations. But it did. We returned back from Vale d'El Rei Hotel last night and we didn't want to come home! It is a beautiful, peaceful and lovely place to stay away from all the hustle and bustle. The staff are very nice and friendly and the food was very nice although I did expect more authentic Portuguese cuisine. Having lived in the Algarve I know how good Portuguese food is! Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings in the middle of no where. You definatly need a car as the nearest main road is about 3 miles away.. Staff extremely friendly, mattresses a bit on the hard side but we coped! Their is no night life so if u want a good night out you need to get a taxi to a different resort, about 10-15 mins away. Would definatley stay there again :-)

Booked this holiday via Teletext Holidays (Hotel and Globespan flights from Glasgow), however did a bit of research on trip advisor and other review sites first. Not a bad review which is a good sign and I am glad to report no problems and had a really nice stay at the beginning of April 2008. Lovely little hotel, we were made to feel extremely welcome from the first minute, very nice setting but really only suitable if you have a car due to the location, nearest real beach/shops/restaurants are some 3km away. The only minor caveat is to be careful which room you need/book as we were in one of their smallest which had no seating area other than a small balcony, and no fridge. My husband and I stayed here for a week in July and were very pleased to find that it was exactly what we expected! The rooms are great, large and spacious, newly decorated, very nice furniture and great air conditioning. The only thing I would point out is that although there is a kitchenette in each room, they did not supply any utensils for cooking and actually told us that they didn't want people cooking in the rooms, as it was a fire hazard. From the moment we approached the reception until we walked out to our rental car for the last time, we felt truly welcome in the Vale d'el Rei (Lagoa, Portugal). In fact, the very sweet Carmina bade us farewell with the comment that, if we should have any questions or need any help before leaving Portugal a week later, we shouldn't hesitate to give her a call. It was my first time at the hotel, but for sure will not be the last one! The hotel is very nice and it has a clean design with some exotic touch. The swimming pool is nice (it could be bigger) and the gardens around the resort are very relaxying. The staff is attentious are ready to help guests. The breakfast is what you might expect in a four-star hotel (I don't know other meals quality because I didn't tried it). It's mainly a hotel for families.
