Hotel Summery

We stayed at the Summery Hotel for seven days. This family run hotel in Lixouri Greece is wonderful. Titika and her family were of great assistance to us; from before our arrival until return to California, USA. Not having been to Greece we had many questions, but all questions were immediately answered in a very friendly manner. After we departed the hotel, the staff found that we had left expensive noise canceling headphones in our room. We were immediately notified by email and Titika arranged to send them to our home; which arrived in good order. The hotel is well maintained. Although the rooms are a little small (US standards) they were comfortable, and the bathroom is good sized. We had the added bonus of a high floor with balcony and ocean view. Breakfast is served in the dinning room or very nice covered patio. The hotel has a lobby and also provides two computers for free email. There is a large swimming pool and a children’s pool. Beyond the pool is the bay beach; the beach does not have sand it is more like a lakeside. The Summery is well situated in the town. It is a 10-minute walk to the Argostoli ferry, Main Square, and conference center. The town is on the quiet side. There are some shops and supermarkets. This is a great place to relax and use as a hub to visit other areas in Kefalonia. Tip: to rent a car from Greek rental agencies one must have an international driver’s license; or rent from Hertz at the airport.

We had a great time at the Summery hotel. Although the building on the outside looks a bit old, the interior must have been recently and completely rennovated, because everything inside is brand new. I understand it is run by a family and the staff there was very helpful and discreet. It's situated right in the heart of the town of Lixouri and when we preferred eating outside, restaurants, cafes and bars are all at a walking distance. The pool was clean and of a good size and the hotel is situated on a beach. We went to practically all the beaches of Lixouri and also took the 15 minute ferry to the otherside, to Argostoli. Having toured round the rest of Cephalonia, I think Lixouri has the nicest, cleanest and quietest beaches than the other side of Cephalonia. Apart from Antisamos and Myrto, personally I didn't find a beach that matched those of Lixouri. Our stay was very pleasant and it definately prompted us to decided to revisit Lixouri next year. The staff made us feel very comfortable.
