We checked in to our cottage in the stunning Derbyshire countyside for just one evening's stay but immediately checked back out and found alternative accommodation. This cottage which costs £125 for one night's stay is a total disgrace. There is absolutely no light... more

Another excellent stay
Another excellent stay at Harthill Hall Cottages, had to return again after a great summer break there last year. Staff as usual, friendly and helpful, accommodation superb ,clean and well equipped (loved the themed rooms). Fantastic location, the only problem was getting the kids into the car to come home.
When were these proerties last inspected. Disgusting¨!
The literature and advertising materials are a total misrepresentation of reality. They may have been relevant 10 or more years ago. We had looked forward to Christmas with parents and family only to find the most awful property and management. Everything was too much trouble.Faulty towers would have been a paradise. I would warn anyone DO NOT GO. Had our arrival not been Xmas and we had not travelled from abroad we would have walked out there and then but we brits try to make the best of a bad situation. However these people... more

All our cottages are inspected weekly for any faults and spring cleaned between each let to the highest standard . Our staff are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week should guests have any queries. All our advertising is updated on a regular basis. We have many many guests who return time after time because their stay has been so enjoyable and relaxing. Had we been aware at the time this guest was unhappy we would have done our utmost to address the situation.

charming cottages
I came to visit the Peak dristrict area and found myself enchanted by my accommadation and friendly staff. who made the trip for me,they went out of there way to help when ever they could
A Bit Quirky!
The yearly family get together we stayed in deferrers cottage the kids loved the cocke room with fridge cupboard, the adults enjoyed a dip the private outdor jacuzzi rain and all ! private use of pool a good ideal as it's quite small but clean and warm welcome hamper a nice supprise
fawlty towers but without the laughs
Well what can I say. if ever a hotel needed a visit from TV's The Hotel Inspector, this is it. They are frankly clueless. As we were guests of someone else who paid it pains me to say that we had a lovely time IN SPITE of the staff. For them, EVERYTHING was too much trouble. There was a rule, regulation or cost attached to everything (£250 fine if the straps on the jacuzzi get broken anyone?). The rooms are hilariously themed in Savannah Style, 1950s Coke, Nautical etc - RANDOM. We'd pre ordered the 'Picture Gallery' -... more

We are very proud of our cottages and their unique interiors and are extremely disappointed this guest did not realise that the "scout hut" is a Victorian Summer House renovated to its former glory. Any rules and regulations are there for the guests safety which we are obligated to have visable. Our staff are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week and are always kind, courteuos and helpful whatever the time of day. Due to a minority of guests misuse of the jacuzzis we have had to make a notice of the cost of replacement lids as a deterrant to over enthusiatic and careless users.

Beautiful area but beware!!!
Harthill Hall Derbyshire. When we arrived there was a notice on the gate to telephone for assistance.- this we did and we were shown to the barn rooms and told the key was in the door and breakfast would be hung on the door at 8am the next morning. The room was dark, depressing and cramped and can only be described as a type of dungeon. The bed just about fit into the room and was extremely uncomfortable. The shower room was tiny and in desperate need of refurbishment as was the bedroom. Sleeping in the room was a miserable... more
The worst accommodation I have ever stayed in
The area around Harthill Hall was beautiful but that is the only positive thing I can say. We were shown where our rooms were but not taken in. The rooms were dark and depressing. There were two large holes in the bedroom door which I had to stuff with paper so that no-one could look in. The room was on the ground floor and had a tall narrow window which had shutters which had a hole in so that you could open and close with your finger but again could be looked through, also there was a gap when closed which could also be seen through.... more
Appalling treatment from staff
People booking to stay at the Barn through 'Laterooms' should be aware that they are not allowed to set foot in the lounge or kitchen area. Therefore the images and descriptions on their website do not apply. When we arrived we were shown to our room down the corridor from the barn's communal lounge area. The room itself, although clean, was very small- barely big enough for the double bed. The shower was broken but there was nobody available in the evening to report it to, so we had to wait until the next day. Having researched the... more

We advertise on Late rooms quite clearly that it is for a room only. The cost of the property on our website is £1000+ therefore we are at a loss to understand how this customer thought he would have access to the whole property for the price he paid. He did remove the screens clearly marked private to access the other parts of the building and was politely asked not to. He was not charged for the two nights he did not stay with us even though we would normally take an administration fee for cancelled bookings. We have staff available 24 hours a day 7 days a week should guests have any problems. We pride ourselves on our good customer relations and the service we provide and have many many guests who return time and time again.
