Just had a 7 day stay at the Levante Hotel, Cala Bona. Excellent hotel, excellent location. Cala Bona a favourite holiday resort of mine. Staff, food, rooms, cleanliness all top notch. However my husband and I were looking forward to relaxing in the jacuzzi and steam room especially during this time of year but the jacuzzi was cold and the steam room not working, only the sauna was of use-disappointing. The best part was the entertainment- the resident duo(Reaction) were great. Would definately return to this hotel but hopefully the health facilities will improve.

Just had an 11 day stay at the Hotel Levante and have to say wouldn't go back again. If your holiday is all about food, then this is the ideal place, but if you are after a nice relax by the pool or resting in your 4* hotel room forget it. This place has the worst rooms I have ever stayed in, just about big enough for 2 twin beds and a set of drawers and that is it. We had booked a sea view room and we did get a sea view room, but our view of the sea was obscured by trees in front and 2 buildings either side which meant quite a slim view of the sea. Later on we did get a room change which did afford a better view (slightly) but room allocation is a complete lottery. We understand that people who did not pay the supplement got a better view than us because they were on a higher floor and thus looked over all the buildings surrounding the room blocks. (We have contacted Thomson about this). As many people have said, if you want a sunbed by the pool, then set your alarm early. We couldn't be bothered with the hassle and to be honest we were grateful. Most of the clientelle are retired folk, and British women in their 60's really need to be told not to sunbathe topless. A short wander over to the pool is enough to put any man (or woman for that matter) right off their dinner. You can get sunbeds on the beach, but you have to pay (3.5 euros each) + there is a sundeck where there were always a few sunbeds free when we looked at most times of the day. The easiest thing for us was just to lie on the beach. We took some mats with us,(because we had read the reviews) but you can buy blow-up beds etc and parasols from the Spar opposite the hotel very reasonably about 5 euros for a parasol and the same for the blow up beds, so if you buy them at the start of the holiday it is worth it, even if you don't have room to bring them home like us.

We did find the hotel staff a varied mix, the maids were usually very cheerful, but some of the restaurant staff were quite surly and some of the reception staff just rude. The Thomson reps do their best and we found Toby to be very helpful, but it must be hard for them because most of the guests could be their grandmas or grandads.

As said the food was good, always fresh and well cooked, but it was a bit samey, samey, but we did eat well for the time we were there. However like the sunbeds there is always a bit of a fight for a decent table. Most of the tables are in 4's whereas most of the guests are couples, so the tables with just 2 seats were always sought after + the ones overlooking the sea are what many people want. Our first night we got a nice table overlooking the beach, but the next night, 1 woman barged my wife out of the way to get it before us. Also whilst some guests are happy to queue up waiting for the restaurant doors to open, some folk just charge to the front in order to get a good table, we just let them get on with it and decided to sit anywhere that was free. (It is strange how the Brits always blame the Germans for pushing in or knicking sunbeds, but many of the guests at the Levante, when we were there, were far worse. It does help you understand why this country is in such a state).

The best part of the holiday for us was the location of the hotel in Cala Bona, which we thought was one of the best resorts we have been in, very clean and friendly, not too big, but with the marina, enough to satisfy an after dinner stroll. There are also boats/ferries that go from the Marina up and down the coast, which we found very good + the bus stop is just round the corner from the hotel and buses go all over the island from there. We went up to Soller and to Palma and the bus fares were half the price Thomson was charging for their trips to those places.

I give the Levante 5/10 mainly for its location and for the food but as it is a Thomson Gold hotel we were very disappointed with it.

Hotel Levante Cala Bona - Nice Hotel if you are over 55 and are a member of the sandal shuffle group! Most sunbeds by the pool are taken as we spied people putting towels on sunbeds about 7.30ish and then not returning to them until 11.00am which is totally unfair to the guests that want to use them. Gala night in the resturant was great

the food at hotel is good. Good hotel for the disabled.Beach not bad but not one of the better beachs in majorca.Cala Bona dosent have much to do when its raining! The hotel

swimming pool was cold and was the jacuzzi. But it was a pleasent stay but a week was long enough.

We chose this Hotel for our 25th Wedding anniversary & treated ourselves to a superior room upgrade, you get dressing gowns, kettle, coffee, tea, fruit etc -very nice! There are no children allowed under 16, which is great. The view from our room was amazing! We overlooked the beach and the sound of the sea when you were sat on the balcony having a late night drink was a delight.

There are a couple of downsides. The towel situation in a morning is laughable, people nonchalantly wander down pretending that they are not going to put towels out at 7.00am, they drop their towels on a lounger & dash off, hoping no-one notices. Very silly & very annoying, it something Thomson's should try & come up with a solution for.

The entertainment needs dragging into the 21st century, although the teams did a great job, some of the acts made you cringe (Boney M tribute act!) and most of the songs sung by the resident duo were too dated. We found a bar nearby that had really good live music nearby, so would recommend that.

There is a huge variety of meals to cater for everyone's tastes. The staff were always very pleasant, the cleanliness of the hotel fantastic. There is also a sundeck on the 3rd floor, with steam rooms & a small gym.

Calla Millor is a comfortable walk away, with lots to see & do. We have booked again for next May, and have requested a high floor, as we noticed that the lower floors over look the stage area, so much so, that you could enjoy the shows from your room.

Overall a great holiday came back refreshed and looking forward to going again.

The Levante is a well run hotel and the staff are superb nothing is too much trouble. I agree with a previous report that the sun bed scenario lets the holiday down. I was up most mornings at 06-45 putting out towels and to be honest, we as a nation blame the Germans but there was none at this Hotel.

The beach is right in front of the small snack bar that serves quality meals. The variety of snacks is very good and you can ask for items not on the menu, you can buy coffee to beer all day.

The views from the rooms are ok, depending on what side of the Lavante you are and how high up. The best side for a sea view is the poolside, on the stage side where we where on the 6th you need to be at least level 4. The bar, restaurant & sun terrace block is in front level 1-3.

There is an adjoining block that is the other side of the bar block, this faces directly out to sea, some people were a little confused, as we were, as to what is a sea view.

We paid extra and as I say we were confused, the only way of knowing if you are getting the value would be to ask someone staying in room 101 on the stage side.

The area is quiet including the harbour area there are not a lot of bars, the harbour had some small building work being carried out but it is not a problem it was not noisy.

The acts at the Hotel where aimed at pleasing everyone, there are apart from the reps based in the hotel a group of Thomson reps who put on shows but these are ok if you are into that sort of entertainment. I found them ok but I would not pay to see and I mean that respectfully just not me.

Some good comedy and some famous faces Aiden J Harvey was there our weeks and like the others he has to control his act, although there are no children they don’t swear and sometimes a joke needs a swear word if you understand that.

Would return without a problem, we can only afford to holiday every other year so we would go back yes, it was quieter than we expected but that’s better than a noisy place.

Cala Millor is along to the left of the prom there is a high German input and the area is clean and trouble free. Best Hotel waiter was them all.

A last minute allocation on arrival long weekend, we were delighted to arrive at the Levante hotel. Right on the beach, in the heart of the resort and a stroll to the gorgeous yacht marina. The beach was nice if a little rocky in the sea, but a ten minute walk along the seafront and the wonderful huge white beach and turquoise waters of Cala Millor are waiting for you (although also for everyone else - it was packed!).

Cala Bona hit just the right note for us, a great atmosphere and quieter after midnight - one bar with live music open until 2, but very strict and turn music down. Plenty of life though of the eating, drinking, live music variety. Lots of thirty something’s like us and some children - but not hectic. We always struggle with half board buffets, the food was fine, breakfasts wonderful, but we like to eat out for dinner. Be sure to eat at cafe milano on the sea front between the hotel and the marina, and at a wonderful fish resonant on the corner. It's a bit more down market in Cala Millor but still ok - we found the Spanish run restaurants and bars to be the best.

On the way back we asked a rep which was her favourite part of the island and she said she had worked all over and liked Cala Bona best. A big thank you to the manager of the immaculate hotel who did his utmost to find and found my husband's missing case, left at the airport by the bus driver! We will be back.

Levante and Levante Park and Cala Bona all have a very special place in my heart as I started, going there since June 1977, when I was 14, with my parents and younger brother.

I went back again in June 2001, for my honeymoon, and found it just perfect. There were even some staff in both hotels that I remember from the 70s, which was lovely to see.

It was and still is very clean, comfortable, ideally situated, both on the beach and in the heart of Cala Bona. Also, because it is flat, it is ideal for elderly or for those with walking difficulties.
