What a view. Better than any postcard. Argiris and his staff treat you like family. Rooms are a nice size. Round bed is a nice affect. Hot tub on the balcony overlooking the sea is heavenly. We walked to Fira on the convenient footpath most nights for dinner. The city is... more

Shine Hotel was a great experience
Shine Hotel really added to our vacation experience. The rooms were very basic, but clean and well equipped. The breakfast on the deck each day was a nice touch. The hotel manager was extremely helpful with sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. The rates were unbelieveable for the value. I highly recommend this hotel.
Fabulous hospitality, immaculate & great value
Shine is more than just a great value for your money, it is an immaculate hotel with breakthtaking views of the caldera and no steps down the cliffs. The manager Argiles is the most hospitable hotelier I have ever come to know, and I'm in the hospitality business. This place is great for everyone at every level including single travelers. The acomodations are basic however at the level you will find at many of the pricey hotels. You don't have to pay a lot to have the breathtaking view. Have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Aegean then hop in the car and off on the adventure for the day, and of the lifetime. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly, appreciated the restaurant recommendations and the site seeing information and would definitely stay again. Thank you!
The best!!!!
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Shine Hotel for 6 nights. Ananiadis, the hotel owner, was unbelievably helpful. Our first day at the hotel, he sat down with us, and circled all the best attractions on the island to see. He was always willing to give us more suggestions about anything, restaurants, shopping, or just scenery. More than one occasion, we sat in the lobby just to speak with him. One night for over two hours. The hotel was amazing. Our room was one of the deluxe models, it was on the top floor and had the most amazing view. Each morning Ananiadis would deliver breakfast and greet us at the time we requested. The room was cleaned spotless each day with new towels and bed linens. There is one thing that I disliked. The bathroom was a little small, but you are on vacation and can make do without a large one. I stayed during the off season but absolutely loved the trip. I STRONGLY recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have a local of the island tell you the best places to go, and to just enjoy your stay.
Just perfect
I had the luck to stay in shine hotel in the middle of may for five days. From the time I arrived to santorini's airport I knew that i was going to have great time.Outside the airport someone from shine hotel was waiting for me to trsansfer me to the hotel.Ten minutes later we arrived to the hotel and Argyrhs was waiting for me to welcome me.He was so kind to offer me a cup of coffee and tell me all the informations I wanted to know about santorini.I had booked the room with the jacuzzi and i didn't regret it at all.Everything was perfect the place was very quite the beds comfortable and the room always clean. The view is beautiful from everywhere and it's in front of the volvano.Thank you very much for everything.
BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!
Hi - I returned back to the states from the Shine hotel just 3 days ago. The only reason I looked forward to getting home was to get on TripAdvisor and tell anyone and everyone that this hotel, and it's management, was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, Argiris was attentive, relaxed, calm, and helpful. I can't say enough about the location, the staff and the experience. The room was impeccable, the attention to detail second to none, the view is outstanding, the value is perfect, and the staff will go the extra mile for you. The only reason I would tell anyone to NOT go, is because I don't want the hotel to be overbooked for the next time I want to go! Please, go to the Shine. Fall in love with Santorini, it's people and it's way of life. You'll be forever changed. Thank you, Argiris. Cindy
Avoid Shine Hotel at all costs - it is a farce.
Sept-2008: We just endured the worst hotel experience of our lifetime!! - and we have travelled the world. Sewer backup smell in our room, ongoing power failures and pathetic internet access was just the start. Every time we asked about the sewer smell we were told "it is the Greek way" - and the speaker (manager and/or owner) was Greek himself!. Every morning we had to tape up the drains in the bathroom to try and stop the smells. The manager (Argiris) blamed everything on "Greece" and "the Greek way" yet the real problem was the shocking plumbing. We posted photos of the taped drains. Even though the power failures were limited to a section of the hotel (ours) he kept telling us it was not his fault but that of the city. He kept to his story even while replacing fuses in front of me! All buildings around us had electricity. He kept reminding us of the reviews of Shine Hotel on Yahoo. Well, with all respect, it is VERY VERY tough for us to believe the authenticity of any positive review. Last week there were only 2 reviews on Yahoo - this week (after our calamity - now 11!! - seems odd) For example - there is no "expensive greek furniture" in the rooms. Argiris makes out he is an employee one moment, then the boss, then the owner, then someone in Athens is the boss, then someone else - the whole thing is a farce. We notice on Trip Advisor that there is another negative (disaster) review and we can endorse that the hot water has to be switched on before showering. The showers are about as small as they can get - I am not fat and I had to squeeze in sideways. The beds are small, cheap, very hard and uncomfortable. TO TOP IT ALL, on the last night we were literally attacked by some associate/relative/friend of the manager/owner (Argiris) after enquiring about the power failures for the n-th time. She started calling us "[--] Americans" etc etc etc and yes, physically assaulted me (lashed out at me several times and her ring on her finger cut me) in our room while I was "guarding" the door!!! We did not lay charges but I can assure you my wife and I were in a total state of shock. [I am not sure where this report fits in with the "violent criminal activity" rules of Trip Advisor but we believe people need to know about this outrage. It happened. If this has to be edited out, then let me know] We were being charged 180 Euro per night. We moved out the next morning (after 4 days of lies) to a beautiful place nearby for 100 Euro with amazing view with pool and jacuzzi, clean non-smelly room, amazing service, true high-speed internet and no power failures. So all the lies about the whole of Imerovigli being at fault was just a coverup. We strongly recommend Santorini as a vacation destination! And Imerovigli in particular if you are looking for a quiet restful venue. There are also great hotels but avoid this pathetic masquerade. This hotel is truthfully a joke and Santorini should do something about it as it does not help Greece, Santorini or Imerovigli. We are going to take this matter further. In our opinion it is an internet farce. You can contact us for more information - we can provide more photos and details.
Management response from shine67 21 Nov 2008

It is sad that our guests did not feel at home with us. This is an unfortunate exception! Thank you for your good words about our hotel!!! Now it is my time to write my opinion and let the people to know why you wrote all these bad things about us. From all the customers the last 2 years we have the hotel you were the only person who had problems 1) about the internet connection 2) your room was dirty and it was smell bad 3) you did not have electricity special you in your room 4) we attacked to you trying to kill you!!! etc and with all these problems from the first day you stayed 4 days here?!!! The answer is: About the connection we do not have connections 100MB or more in Greece like I told you special in Santorini. (The highest is 24MB). The hotel is all new as you show, so to have bad smell special in your room it is a little strange. When we don’t have electricity in the hotel or in all the area that means all the hotel do not have power and not only special in your room. To attack you I don’t understand why to do that?!! I am different kind of person with high education and you can read a lot of reviews about me from many internet sites. But I think you have already read all these reviews from the web sites as you told me .About the furniture all of them are made by hand from Mr Vatelis which is famous in Greece about his job. Argiris makes out he is an employee one moment, then the boss, then the owner, then someone in Athens is the boss, then someone else - the whole thing is a farce. Everybody knows i am the owner of the hotel and i am 24 hours in a day in the reception as you show because I am sleeping in the hotel. And yes here in Caldera the hot water works with electricity because we can not put any mirrors to take power from the sun because imagine the Caldera with hundreds of mirrors how it will looks like.I do not think so is so big thing to wait 5-10 minutes to have hot water?!! << We were being charged 180 Euro per night. We moved out the next morning (after 4 days of lies) to a beautiful place nearby for 100 Euro with amazing view with pool and Jacuzzi !!!!, clean non-smelly room, amazing service, true high-speed internet and no power failures.>> And now the reason for all these is the MONEY. We did you a better price 20 euros less every day but you wanted to pay the half price and you trying to find excuses to reduce the price but like I told you we can not do nothing better because we are family run hotel and we trying to live our family. But we gave you free 2 bottles of local wine, fruits, coffees we paid your taxi to come in the hotel (20 euros), and I think there are too much for a hotel like us with 10 rooms. About the plastic on the drains??!!!! Kind Regards Anargiros Ananiadis

Great stay!
Excellent hotel in a good location. We really enjoyed our stay there. The room was nicely decorated and clean. The hotel owners extremely nice and gave us loads of good tips on where to go on the island.
Very nice and inviting
This was a last minute stay, they were very nice to both myself and mom, who had become ill on the boat from Athens, and ended up spending the majority of time in the hotel, which was nice and cool and very comfortable...They also booked me on a tour and gave great dirctions and great places to eat. Would definately stay with them again. Lisa
Hospitality,View,and Perfect Breakfast
was not sure about this hotel when I booked it, but everything exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely stay there again in the future. The hotel is clean and the rooms are so nice with very special decoration.... could write 100 pages of positive comments about our stay at this wonderful environment. Today, I will focus on the most salient: The location is perfect. Imerovigli is a small town at walking distance from Fira and with a perfect view of the volcano. The view from our private Spa outside on the balcony is fantastic. We left Shine Hotel with great memories and friends, hoping to see them again very soon and as many times as possible. Many thanks to Argiris and Margatita for the family hospitality we had, and for the perfect service.
Good value, caring family service
Overall, very solid value given the price. We stayed in the Semi-basement, which was just 54 Euros a night in summer. The staff care, and are very willing to help make your stay more comfortable. The room was clean, and the beds were very good. We liked the ambiance. Breakfast was very simple, but appreciated. We were happy we stayed in Imerovigli. It's a bit of a hike though. Tourist establishments will claim 15 minutes to the main city of Thira....maybe for an extremely fit person trotting/jogging up the hill. More likely closer to 25, though it is along a trail with an incredible view of the caldera. Imerovigli is pretty quiet, but that's what we wanted, and it had sufficient stores/bars/restaurants to find the essentials at anytime. This is no doubt a place for honeymooners or for couples who want to chill. The place is family-run, and they do try to make sure that everyone has a nice stay. On more than one occasion, we were sitting around, and the innkeeper kindly cut us some fruit and on one occasion served me some wine. Nice people, and spending time with them made the stay there more of a pleasure.
