Having spent a week at the Hotel Seewinkel, Fuschl-am-see this July (2009) through Inghams 'Lakes & Mountains' my wife and I encountered many of the problems highlighted on other websites (see Tripadvisor.com). The owner Frau Hofmann continues to be rude, unwelcoming, and unhelpful. We have never been told how to dress or when to eat in a “4 star” hotel. Frau Hofmann told us off like naughty school children in front of a dining room full of people because we arrived for our meal at 7.30pm despite the Inghams information sheet stating that the dining room was open from 6.30 to 8.00pm. She is obsessed with the hotel dress code (no shorts or sandals at breakfast despite many clients being walkers), and the “free” packed lunches were appalling - the same poor quality rolls every day and one apple and one cereal bar that my wife and I had to share. Frau Hofmann made us feel that Inghams’ clients on the half-board package were unwanted second-class guests.
We have complained to Inghams but their mealy-mouthed response put the blame on “Frau Hofmann’s poor English” and stated that her rude manner “is unintentional”, but admitted that the 6.30pm dinner start “is unusual for a four star hotel”. We have requested that Inghams remove the Hotel Seewinkel from their brochure - it will be salutary to see how seriously Inghams take their guests’ ongoing dissatisfaction .
